btw saw this show (didnt see a full episode though) and loved it made me feel like i was really there and even though i already had a good understanding of ww2 it gave me a better one. My favorite moments of courag was when a squad was pinned down by an mg-42 and one of the men ran straight up to it an through a grenade inside and when one of the soldiers needed to get to a flanking position so he ran in the open where two mg-42's and a tiger tank was shooting at him. situations like that would scare most men shitless

BRAVERY!!!!! COMERADSHIP!!!!!! was put to the TEST!!!!!!! that was so...SAD

The Geneva Convention (the rules of war) is actually four conventions - the 1st-3rd Geneva Conventions (the ones that dealt with medical personnel in the field) had all taken place before WWII. So it was against the rules. But rules only go so far when you're actually in combat.
it is in the Geneva Convention, but it is overlooked by everyone. the idea being if that soldier is saved, he could come back and face your army another day. Plus the Japanese sought out and shot our medics specifically.

I thought it was too,but then I read the book "Flag of Our Father's" and it said it was very brave to be a corpsman because the Japanese would try to shoot them and the medics.They say said that they would see the bags that the corpsman wore.I'm not to sure though.:)

While I was in the Army and stationed in Germany from 98-01 I spent a couple of four days weekends touring the Battle of the Bulge battlefields, there are places around St Vith were you can still see the foxholes that were occupied by the U.S. troops defending the town, there are still rusty ammo cartridges on the ground, and Bastogne was a very nice little town to spend a day in, I would recommend a trip there to anyone who loves this mini series.
i think you al are missing the concept behind thefunnyman217's comment. fighting side by side, fighting and living for a cause and even dying for a cause is a noble thing... aint no rascism, hate or anything between men who shed blood together... i agree id like to have fought with men like these, maybe i and others today would be better people for it and just maybe we wouldnt be looking over our shoulder or going to war again, but then again mankind will never learn. Trust me, you dont wish you were there, be thankful you wern't. You either died of bloodwound or worse,away from your family and loved ones, or came out with horric/ scarring memories and mentally disabled from the horror or remembering your best friends dying beside you.

While I was in the Army and stationed in Germany from 98-01 I spent a couple of four days weekends touring the Battle of the Bulge battlefields, there are places around St Vith were you can still see the foxholes that were occupied by the U.S. troops defending the town, there are still rusty ammo cartridges on the ground, and Bastogne was a very nice little town to spend a day in, I would recommend a trip there to anyone who loves this mini series.

i think you al are missing the concept behind thefunnyman217's comment. fighting side by side, fighting and living for a cause and even dying for a cause is a noble thing... aint no rascism, hate or anything between men who shed blood together... i agree id like to have fought with men like these, maybe i and others today would be better people for it and just maybe we wouldnt be looking over our shoulder or going to war again, but then again mankind will never learn. That is the saddest part. right now the american people are just like the germans in 1933-34. "the savior is upon us to bring change and all that other shit" unfortunately in a couple years we are gonna wake up and find history repeated itself again. I think you need to get your facts straight pal....
The japanese shot our medics.
The Germans didnt.
The japanese sent 60,000 americans on a march killing half of them. And then when they got to the prison camps.. They herded them all into air raid shelters and burned them alive.
The SS was just a few units.
The whole japanese army was brutal.
So next time you try to argue, remember there are people who were there or are descendants of them.

well you know they were allied together the nazis were deff. evil and certanly brutal however the fighting style was deff. from jappan. in japan they were taught to fight until the last man, untire islands were still held by one person at times the found a jap. spy from ww2 on honolulu still thinking the war was going on and he did not surrender its a matter of opinion who was more brutal but historicle records show jappanesse fighting was harder

@emerychandler but a lot of people part of SS (which was hitlers private elite fighting force) being in the SS was honorable much like being in the Marine today and if you didnt believe in what hitler was doing you werent part of the SS anymore. and some of hitlers top generals didnt believe in it. just i hate when people think all NAZIs and Waffen SS are bad. thats why i posted that comment to get peoples ideas on it.
