Some final thoughts: You basically own YOURSELF in this video. At the end you say that Cole didn't do his "research" yet when you highlight that section about the mosque, you didn't highlight the next sentence which states neither the SIZE of it nor the location within the building is final - which kind of defeats the purpose of this video - and in a comment below you say Cole AGREED with you. Yeah, that it CONTAINS a mosque, but NOT that it's a mosque ITSELF!
@Pitchguest Sry you had to wait, but I had all but forgotten about your comment.
First a little context. At the time people arguing positively for the "community center", stated either that there was no mosque in the center or that there was no mosque at all. Mostly the latter, which was ridiculous nonsense and Cole knew this.
Secondly, though I do not mention this in the video, mosque´s are viewed as "community center´" by muslims. So the CC is a play on words in a political game.
@JRBendixen Thirdly, I will call it a mosque and not a community center(see above), as the primary function is religion(islam) not community. Just visit the park51 website and you will see.
Fourth, I do not get your "size & location" argument. Anyway please specify?
(cont...) Having said that, yes, it's CALLED a Muslim Community Center. However a Muslim Community Center is not a MOSQUE or vice versa. Meant FOR Muslims probably since it's designed as such but that doesn't mean they'll throw other people OUT. Also, to wit, again to reference the section you highlighted about the mosque, they even say THEMSELVES, "the final size and location of the mosque has yet to be determined, but it will only represent a small portion of the final structure."
It's 10 months old, but still. Cole is right by saying it's not a mosque, because it's NOT a mosque. It's a community center. It contains a mosque. You wouldn't call a community center with a chapel a church, nor would you a hospital should it contain one, or a mosque or synagogue-like setting. It's not even an excuse, it's a fact. And the section you highlighted about the mosque is it's going to CONTAIN a mosque but not strictly BEING a mosque. (cont...)
The "it's not a mosque" argument is, by far, the stupidest one used by the mosque supporters. Martin J Willett has destroyed this nonsense in his video "It's not a Mosque..." and so did you in this one. Thank you, sir!
The website you showed clearly stated that park 51 is a community centre containing a mosque. You deny that what Landon Cole says (that it isn't a mosque) is true and also state that it is a religious centre. Where are your sources for this? The website for Park 51 refutes what you have said and confirms what you have denied.
@warmacre Aha. Finally someone asked. Mr. Cole has specifically stated that it is only a community center and not a mosques. You only have to watch his videos to confirm this. This is far from true, it was going to be a community center with a mosque on top, as stated on their earlier version of their website.
This is a fact, shown by Coles own comments to this video.
What reasons the park51 people have to change their plans, I really do not know.
@warmacre What reasons the park51 people have for changing their plans, I really do not know. But my guess is that they got caught with their pants down.
About your "not a religious center" crap, you really only have to go to the website and read the front page. Every single one of the articles are about religion or religious matters. The same goes for the cordobainitiative website.
So to argue the opposite flies in the face of reality.
I know a lot of people either have or shortly will mention this, but I don't really see how you get to call anyone a moron given your inability to coordinate letters into words or words into sentences. And to pre-empt any claims that this is not a relevant issue,
@Th1sWasATriumph While it may be relevant to the exaggerated claim of being a moron, I still think the point was valid. By claiming that it's a community center w/o mentioning that there is in fact a mosque inside, DLC was being deceptive. This, of course, says nothing about the validity of the rest of DLC's points.
@Rhysz1 No of course not. But if people were opposed to the plan to build the chappel in the hospital, simply saying "Hey, it's not a church, it's just a hospital", rather than "Hey, it's not a church, it's a hospital with a chappel in it" is somewhat dishonest.
While it might not BE a mosque, neglecting to admit that it contains a mosque when the mosque is the focus of the argument is dishonest, and so should be called out.
Damn I posted a full reply but YT decided to ignore it! Dishonesty is a big word here, if you really feel it is apt please elaborate. By your logic the same would apply for thunderf00t for calling it a mosque and not a cultural center containg a prayer room (2 floors). If I read your comment correctly I assume your problem is mainly semantic, which does not really interest me on this topic. I care more about the concepts of personal property and the first amendment on this issue.
@Rhysz1 Cont... I think we're not that far apart in our opinions. My main issue is that I feel that DLandon raised some other resonable and legitemate points in the video especially concerning reciprocity. He did so in a civil manner and I hope the main thrust of the discussion stays that way.
@Rhysz1 Of course. I just think that not admitting that the mosque (or prayer room) was included in the building when that is the center of the criticism of the building is pointless and not entirely honest. And the fact that it only contains a mosque, rather than being a mosque, is irrelevant, because, again, the argument was criticizing the inclusion of the mosque.
@DLandonCole Iether that or you actually had not read what it actually stated on the webpage. But if you say it was a mistake it is good enough for me.
@Rhysz1 Yearh you are right the same applies to thunderf00t. But DLandonCole makes quite a few of such. He also say that the center is a community, whern in fact it is religious center. He also say the name Cordoba was chosen because it represented a time of religious tolerance. This is also false the name was chonsen as it represented the hight of muslim history. And so on. When you stak all these points it seems to me that he far from honest.
@JRBendixen Whether it is considered the "h(e)ight of muslim history" or not, it does indeed refer to a time where a muslim caliphate in europe was the center of cultural and scientific progress as well as a tolerant multicultural society. Note that it wasn't the only caliphate around but even fatimids and abbasids around the same time expressed tolerance towards other faiths and cultures and supported science and arts.
@JRBendixen Not the "muslim world", a vague and somewhat meaningless generalization. Westerners (and your a good example of this) equate the vocal minority of extremist and terrorist to muslims as a whole. That's what moderate like Rauf and many others try to change and so they should.
@JRBendixen None of the above, islam just like christianity is a compound of countless diverse practices ranging from extremism to not religious at all.
@JRBendixen Well, you view Islam and civilization as contradictory terms. I'm trying to point out that in different times and places muslim cultures were more tolerant, progressive and artistic than what they are thought to be today (and than other contemporary cultures). It would be dumb to think that this heritage is lost on all muslims today or that a religion that allowed it at a time is now intrinsically backwards.
@dalthroz My views are a lot more nuanced than you describe. You are reading between the lines.
Try reading this sentence once more "I generally view the term "Islamic civilization as an oxymoron though". "Generally" being an important word in that sentence, I hope you agree. I´m not much for people speculating about what I think. They and you can just ask.
@Rhysz1 The issue of property right is somewhat a non subject for me. If people feel the laws are wrong, they should then vote for politicians that represent their stance. Or take personal action to get a change of laws through. The people protesting the building of the center seems to have no real real world solutions for their stance wich makes me facepalm.
@JRBendixen No offense, But in my opinion that is somewhat short-sighted. The entire idea of constitutional rights is to prevent a dictatorship of the majority. I think we're talking passed eachother a bit. Personally I think the Community center, including a prayer room/mosque, is a victory for Secularism and the biggest 'Fuck You' we could give al-Qaida.
@Rhysz1 No offence taken. This may sound strage, regarding what I have stated earlier, but you could be right. They can build away, for all I care. The thing is though that they are shooting themselfes in the foot. And I really have a problem, that they are saying they are all for tolerance, while building a mosque where people are sensitive to the idea. So I tend to think they are not thinking things through.
@JRBendixen I think I understand where you're comming from. Let me take the Danish cartoons as an example, if I may, The risk of our freedom is that we sometimes get offended. I'll agree that Park51, mainly due to media sensationalism, Might not be the best PR move ATM. I think that now that we all have a clear head we can agree on the main points of the discussion the rest is maily Semantics as I stated earlier.
@MasauFuku Perhaps I should have been clearer that it would contain a mosque. I have said as much below. I thought that everyone would realise that it would contain a mosque, given that the debate has been about it being the GZM. That was probably a mistake.
@Th1sWasATriumph Fair enough. I just do not bother in these times of my life, as I´m mentally busy with other things. Thats all. Actually, now I come to think of it, I seldom bother to proof read anything I post on youtube, that be video or comment.
Why not address the real issue. Thunderfoot should use his scientific background and subscriber base to debunk the miracle claims of Islam, instead of picking on the mosque issue. From my few comments to Dawahfilms, I'd say he's near the event horizon of lunacy and madness...
Work stoppage on ALL Mosques in America until Ground Zero Mosque is cancelled. No construction, no financing, no repairs, no maintenance, no supplies. Protest at every Mosque. Boycott any business that does business with a Mosque.
Stop the "Islamic Caliphate VICTORY Mosque at Ground Zero".
The Islamic Caliphate Cordoba Initiative that built Mosques on top of conquered churches in Spain can not be allowed to succeed in America by building the Cordoba House at Ground Zero!
@BrainDeadRepublican you cannot be serious, they pose no threat. that is why this whole deal is a bit funny. What are they going to do. Try to kill us by throwing oil at a distance of thousands of miles. I would even argue we would thank then, if it was not for the ecological disaster it would cause.
JR, I'm not sure why you made this video, it's unusually agrressive for you. Did you watch this video in the context of Thunderf00t's which it was a response to? AFAIK in the US Religious center and Community center are basically interchangeable terms. (a bad thing absolutely) But that isn't the main point of DLandon's video, Which mainly was to point out inconsistencies in the video he was responding to.
@Rhysz1 Aha, inconsistencies you say, that was what I have pointed out in DLandonCole´ video. I admit the video is quite harsh. The think is I got a little tired of people polerizing the subject. While tediously repeating tiny snitbits they thought would make an argument, without actually telling the whole story. So I went for the biggest gun out there I could find. continued....
@JR Well, I think Dlandon would take it as a compliment that you consider him the 'biggest gun'. :) Personally I feel his response was quite fair and balanced. If you want to bring up the polarisation of Park51 (Cordoba House), I think you should start with Thunderfoot and Pat Condell as they were the first the speak out on the subject in this case. I do think that you can't adress Dlandon without also adressing Thunderfoots points. I'm very interested in knowing your opinions on Park51 BTW.
@Rhysz1 Quote: "I'm very interested in knowing your opinions on Park51 BTW". Ha, I tried to play it cool until now, but failed badly. I think every religious based initiative goes counter to the survival of our species, regardless of the intent. So I´m against it, but they have the under civil rules, so I wont fight it. The only way forward is education and time. The safest bet with no garanties.
@Rhysz1 Emotionally, I can frankly lean back as a Dane and say. I care mostly about the honesty in the discussion. But if I was a newyorker I would probably think differet. Who knows :)
@JRBendixen In all honesty, I'd be hesistant to bring up my views to a NY'er as well... I Wouldn't want to ruffle any feathers, but in the end it's private property, they can do with it what they want regardless of their religious denomination, and isn't that what secularism stands for?
@Rhysz1 I agree. The subject is so emotional that the people who dislike the project seems totally disconnected from reality. If they really wanted to change thing, then they should partition their politicians and vote another way. Not that I´m against public protests, quite the opposite. Though I think shoot wide of the target and have no regard for the consequences of their ideas.
@Rhysz1 On the other hand I´m proud to stand on the opposite side of Dawahfils. To disagree with a juvenile antihuman smartass with delusions of grandiour, always make me giggle. In fact I think I could argue a case suggesting that, building a society on the opposites of Dawahfils insanity would guarantee a mostly healthy society.
@JRBendixen I don't see how Dawh got into this conversation. I disagree with both him and Thunderf00t on many issues. I can only say that both have only treated me with civility and politenes.
@Rhysz1 Ha, he got into the conversation because he made a lame comment to this video. And he has done a lot of commenting on the subject. He may be polite, but as far as I´m concerned he is the thesis of a young islamic moron without a clue. His style is actually not far from DLandonCole. They make a lot of suggestion, talks forever about this and that without ever connecting their points into a clear conclusion. Pure whining, but powerful as people buy emotional tainted crap.
@Rhysz1 Hey thanks and trust you me I positively count as an adult. My own problem is that bores me extremely. I do have moments when the shit hits the fan, or you in this case :)
Well I´m off to bed, have to get up pretty early tomorrow.
@DLandonCole Depends on the context. And you come across as a guy with all the facts, so it would be obvious for me at least, that you mentioned this small but important fact. Important why you may ask, well what some people are protesting is the mosques. But you say it is a center, that is neither correct. It is a center with a mosque.
So do you think a center without a mosque would pissoff people just as much?
@DLandonCole I may have been exaggerating a little, but I remember you saying something about not being lectured by people whom have no facts. So I went for the effect.
@JRBendixen Then you should listen again to what I said.
"I will not be lectured by someone who, so far as I can tell, has not even tried to research the subject at hand beyond the trivial and the superficial". That was a response to Tf00t's refusal to be lectured; given what I maintain are the fairly serious problems with his position, I stand by that comment.
@DLandonCole Ha, all right and dandy, but even if he had not done the research, I have made a point that you havent either. Nor have I for that matter. I think the issue is somewhat more muddled by both of your argumentations and yours which represent the common take one on youtube had to be adressed.
@Rhysz1 continued. When I watched DLandonCole´ video it seemed obvious that he came out as one presenting all the facts. He did not. I have in fact quite a few issues regarding his videos and I really think his second video is loaded to the top with suggestions rather than any somber arguments or actual facts. I will make a few more videos showing his disregard for facts like, a mosque is a mosque, regardless what backage it comes in. To be continued, but there is not much more.
@Rhysz1 I really have no problem with the mosque. Though I´m quite sure they are shooting themselfes in the foot on a short term. Also I got irritated at the fact that a whole buch a atheists bought into the community deal, even though they are excluded from the start. I could be wrong but but nobody here has even thought about it. Talk about irony. In short, what is argued for is the eqution discrimination=culteral cohesion. What a joke. last comment to come..
@JRBendixen Ofcourse Park51 is a PR disaster for American muslims, but that's more of an angle played by the religious right. Atheists can't be excluded from a community center or they will lose their tax status IIRC.
@Rhysz1 Least but not last, the devil is in the details, and everybody(not you) are writing i capital letters, even Andromedaswake. It´s just a bunch of emotional bollocks disguised in misplaced concern for crybabies. Dont get me wrong, I mean that about both sides. What has the cabela even got to do with anything other than being a symbol for the muslims. Sigh :)
@Rhysz1 I'd also say that religious centres are by definition a subset of community centres and that as this is being aimed at the broader community in NY, the description community centre is perfectly valid.
(cont) Isn't a mosque. You have done nothing to prove that it has any ill intentions or is only a mosque. Nor have you raised any objections at all to the center being built at all.
@Nightmare060 What are you on about. I fail to see how you can miss my point, that DLandonCole was far from truthfull. That should raise some eyebrows at least.
@Nightmare060 I have no objections to the building of a mosques. But my point should raise the question of how sensitive muslims really are to other peoples opinions.
Not really if you ask me and that was the whole argument for calling "park51" the "Cordoba-house"in the first place. Try lookup cordobainitiative(dot)org on the waybackmachine.
This whole thing is like dealing with crybabies. They have their right to build, but they offend people, while saying they are not. Sigh.
@Nightmare060 Quote:"You have done nothing to prove that it has any ill intentions". That was not the point of my video, but I´m mostly against any the building of any religious building. Especially if it is promoted or funded by any government.
@JRBendixen The problem with that argument is that this is not a religious building. It's a community center for everyone with religious praying rooms. The community center should be promoted by the government, rather than just the mosque part.
@Nightmare060 ? That made little sense. The community will get communal funds, for being a community center. Not a mosque. No matter let me get a few things straight.
why should govornment support a religious building?
Why do you think the mosque has been changed to a prayer room?
@JRBendixen Where is the government funding religious buildings? The mosque was never "changed" into a prayer room. It never was a mosque to begin with.
@Nightmare060 Quote:"The mosque was never "changed" into a prayer room.
You are free to call me a lier, but you would also be calling Cole a lier. And just to make that clear, here is a quote of his in this comment section.
"Perhaps I should have been clearer that it would contain a mosque" -DLandonCole
He did not know in his initial statements, but has so verified what I have stated to be true. I guess he checked.
@Nightmare060 Con.. The park51/cordobainitiative people have suddenly changed their minds about their project, thus transforming a mosques into a prayer room.
And as I stated in the video, it is not a community center but at the time of coles video a religious community with a mosque.
Try lookup cordobainitiative (dot) org on the wayback machine.
You are repeating falsehoods as they were true. Why do you think I shoved the park51 webpage in my video.
@Nightmare060 I will go so far as to state that all my points are baked up by hard facts and you have never even looked into this matter yourself.
I mean, even Cole agrees with my facts. Just to quote him again:
"Perhaps I should have been clearer that it would contain a mosque. I have said as much below. I thought that everyone would realise that it would contain a mosque, given that the debate has been about it being the GZM. That was probably a mistake."
@Nightmare060 Give it a rest, you have shown nothing to backup your points. You are just playing word games. And before you say the same about my points, well do yourself a favor an lookup Coles actual comments to this video. It really is basic stuff.
@JRBendixen I did. Further he agrees with my points. Just read his comments to this video, which you have not done so far. How hard can it be, I mean a 6 year old can do it ffs.
@0:33; Yes, it's not a mosque. It's a community center with a floor that is being used as a mosque. The whole building is not a mosque it's self.
@1:22; How is it a religious center only? Can it not be both a community center and a mosque at the same time? And so what if it is? What difference does it make?
@1:32; No he isn't made a fool of himself. His point still stands that the threat is grossly exaggerated.
@2:23; Quote mining. There will be a mosque there, but the whole building still
@Nightmare060 Thanks for your comment. I think I understand your position.
1. I did not say either he nor the morons on the street protesting the center were right. I was trying to point out that If I was to take him seriously, then he should have said that, there is going to be a mosque. But it would most likely be a but a small part of the projekt. It is a point of being honest. Exactly the same goes for the street crowd.
@JRBendixen I'm sorry, but that is still a huge nitpick. How is he being dishonest by saying it's not just a mosque, but a community center. And yes, just because it's being organized by people of a particular faith, doesn't mean that it's a center for the religious only. Your making completely irrelevant points and calling DLC a moron because of it.
@Nightmare060 The moron part is mostly I admit for effect. About the rest, well if I make an association for capitalists with explicitly capitalist leaders as a rule. Would you then argue that such a place would further the civil discourse with kommunists and make them part of their civil community? What I´m trying to say is that most association like park51 that from the start discriminates, while promoting integration, often accomplices quite the opposite. Try thinking about it.
@Nightmare060 2. It is a religious center, because they state so up front and the leaders are purely selected by religious affiliation, not counting secular humanists, atheists and as far as I understand it buddists, hindues ect. ect. So why call it a community center if it all comes down to what religion you aspire to, just to get a chance to seriously make a difference. I guess my point is not waterproof, but I suggest you go readup on the links in the description box.
@Nightmare060 3. Did I say or argue that the threat was taken too lightly. I stand by my point that he was dishonest. And I`m begging to suspect that it was intentional.
@Nightmare060 There was no quote mining. DLandonCole, has even stated had there was too much irrelevant stuff in my video. And I have admitted that might be so, but I left it in because of the video flow. By the by, DLandonCole makes far too many statement that I could deal with them all in a single video. There are more to come :)
@DLandonCole Maybe later today. I´m a little busy the next copple of hours and I did spend last night discussing with Rhysz1 and playing with my child :)
@Nightmare060 Just to illustrate your mindnumbing ignorance By your logic deathcamps had nothing to do with nazism, because the deathcamps were only a small portion of nazi rule. Hey they build great cars, so lets focus on that right.
It does matter, the people on the streets saying so are alone evidence for that(no matter whether we agree or not). This is why the man, whom presumably got all the facts right, is just plain wrong.
Thanks for your reply. So far as I can tell, your only objection to my video is that I say that Park51 is not a mosque.
It is not a mosque. It contains a mosque. My lunchbox today contains, amongst other things, a pastrami sandwich. That does not mean my lunchbox is a pastrami sandwich. You say yourself that it is 'a religious centre containing a mosque'. I would say, btw, that it can be both a religious centre and a community centre at the same time.
@DLandonCole It is interesting that you say it is not a community centre and then cite, as evidence for it being a mosque, the website for Park51 that says, at the top of the page from which you quote, 'the community centre at Park51'. It also says, on the same page, that the mosque will be a separate non-profit within the same building. There is a publishing company in the same building as where as I work. That does not make my workplace a publishing company.
@DLandonCole I have broadly made two arguments on Park51. One is a rejection of the opposition to it, for the reasons I have given in the video to which you are replying, and the other is a positive case that Park51 may actually do some good that I have only mentioned in passing.
@DLandonCole Even if Park51 were just a mosque, that would only counter my positive argument and not the rejections: to wit; that the Cordoba Initiative is not comparable to the Westboro Baptist Church; that people are judged by perceived rather than actual actions; that Thunderf00t's reciprocation argument is a straw man; that reciprocation also weakens Thunderf00t's position if applied; that Thunderf00t's argument that Saudi Arabia is a typical, mainstream Islamic country is wrong.
@DLandonCole I did not spend one word mentioning the WBC, you did and I only left it in because I felt it made a better flow in the video. Ie I would not make insane 5 second clips. But if I was you, I really would not go down that reasoning lane, as I have an idea for a video arguing that you made a fool of yourself on that exact point.
@JRBendixen My point was that, even if you were right on the point you try to make in this video, that does not affect a very substantial part of my argument.
Please, go ahead and make the video.
Do you accept that 'contains a thing' is not the same as 'is a thing'?
@Rhysz1 Sure he did, as to make a jerk index. WBC is in my opinion rated quite high, but muslims killing apostates take the price, especially counting their triumphant videos showing newborn islamists. But that is not my real point. As I have clearly stated before, I did not comment on WBC in my video. It was a matter of the flow of the video. Anyway, thanks for your comment and I´m just ranting a little right now.
@JRBendixen JEBUS! We should get a room! :) I've heard that a lot of those Islam conversion videos are staged or fake. A friend of mine (ex-muslim) recommended a couple of not-so-well-known channels to me that deal with islam like Superfly deals with christianity. I won't get into the WBC untill they make a site "god hates the Netherlands"!
@DLandonCole So you are arguing that the mosque is not part of the park51 project. You seem to crasping for straws, or playing word games. I admit that the mosque most likely will be but a small part of the projekt, even so no one knows how large or small a deal it will be.
@JRBendixen No, that is not what I am arguing. For the sake of clarity: the building at Park 51 will contain a mosque. That does not mean it is a mosque. The mosque will be a separate legal entity, as I understand it, from the cultural centre that will occupy the rest of the building.
Do you accept that 'contains a thing' is not the same as 'is a thing'?
@DawahFilms But you flatter me DawahFilms. By making such lame criticism to my video, you confirm you have nothing interesting to say. I guess my points still stand.
So feel free to waste your time making a video about me and my arguments. As I see it, I reson it would be free advertisement.
@DawahFilms Wow, it suddenly occurs to me that you are not a true muslim, as such would never ridicule. Remember what your daft and silly prophet had said about such things.
Just to quote your pedophile god: "Patience and forgiveness are indications of strenght", "Dont publicize negative things unless one has been wronged", "do not be arrogant" and "Say kind things to people".
So whom is the fail. Let me spell it out, you are a fraud DawahFilms and only preaching for fame and money.
@DawahFilms This is like talking to a 2 year old child, sigh.
1) Do you really not want to be a muslim "youtube scholar". I mean, you are preaching are you not?
2) You seem to promote a world view, in a way that "Is speak for every muslim child woman or man".
I think you are a young man with no skills and a pathetic record of accomplishments combined with some insane delusions of grandior. In short, you are a boy becoming a man. Dawah, to live by the words of a phedohile is really uncool.
@JRBendixen But hey, instead of disrespecting the words of your god by playing games(you are going to a nonexistent hell), you should message me with all your knowledge. I´m not certain but at some times I thing I´m more friendly in PM´s. No guarantee though.
By the by, I care nothing for your god(muhammed) rules.
@DawahFilms I care nothing for your nonexisting god, but I feel obliged to remind you the words of the phedohile : "Say kind things to people". You have not said kind words to me, so by your own reasoning you are going to hell.
@DawahFilms About being an ass, I am contemplating making some very funny videos about you. The combined clips of you making death threats and talking about getting islam back to the roots in a future, way may have some entertainment value.
And the oxford clip you link to. Well both of the idiots seems to disagree with you on a lot of counts. how can that be :)
@0PsycoDad0 Hmm, hard to say in so few words. Still I would say they have some power, but far from anything like control. The US seems to me to be a house devided, but still in good working condition :)
@JRBendixen

@JRBendixen

@JRBendixen

The31YearOldVirgin 1 year ago
The website you showed clearly stated that park 51 is a community centre containing a mosque. You deny that what Landon Cole says (that it isn't a mosque) is true and also state that it is a religious centre. Where are your sources for this? The website for Park 51 refutes what you have said and confirms what you have denied.
Where is your argument?????
warmacre 1 year ago
@warmacre Aha. Finally someone asked. Mr. Cole has specifically stated that it is only a community center and not a mosques. You only have to watch his videos to confirm this. This is far from true, it was going to be a community center with a mosque on top, as stated on their earlier version of their website.
This is a fact, shown by Coles own comments to this video.
What reasons the park51 people have to change their plans, I really do not know.
JRBendixen 1 year ago
@warmacre What reasons the park51 people have for changing their plans, I really do not know. But my guess is that they got caught with their pants down.
About your "not a religious center" crap, you really only have to go to the website and read the front page. Every single one of the articles are about religion or religious matters. The same goes for the cordobainitiative website.
So to argue the opposite flies in the face of reality.

I know a lot of people either have or shortly will mention this, but I don't really see how you get to call anyone a moron given your inability to coordinate letters into words or words into sentences. And to pre-empt any claims that this is not a relevant issue,
YES, IT IS.
That is all.
Th1sWasATriumph 1 year ago
@Th1sWasATriumph While it may be relevant to the exaggerated claim of being a moron, I still think the point was valid. By claiming that it's a community center w/o mentioning that there is in fact a mosque inside, DLC was being deceptive. This, of course, says nothing about the validity of the rest of DLC's points.
MasauFuku 1 year ago
@MasauFuku Would you call a Hospital with a chappel in it a Church? But that's just semantics really.
Rhysz1 1 year ago
@Rhysz1 No of course not. But if people were opposed to the plan to build the chappel in the hospital, simply saying "Hey, it's not a church, it's just a hospital", rather than "Hey, it's not a church, it's a hospital with a chappel in it" is somewhat dishonest.
While it might not BE a mosque, neglecting to admit that it contains a mosque when the mosque is the focus of the argument is dishonest, and so should be called out.
MasauFuku 1 year ago
Damn I posted a full reply but YT decided to ignore it! Dishonesty is a big word here, if you really feel it is apt please elaborate. By your logic the same would apply for thunderf00t for calling it a mosque and not a cultural center containg a prayer room (2 floors). If I read your comment correctly I assume your problem is mainly semantic, which does not really interest me on this topic. I care more about the concepts of personal property and the first amendment on this issue.
Rhysz1 1 year ago
@Rhysz1 Cont... I think we're not that far apart in our opinions. My main issue is that I feel that DLandon raised some other resonable and legitemate points in the video especially concerning reciprocity. He did so in a civil manner and I hope the main thrust of the discussion stays that way.
Kind Regards,
Rhysz
Rhysz1 1 year ago
@Rhysz1 Of course. I just think that not admitting that the mosque (or prayer room) was included in the building when that is the center of the criticism of the building is pointless and not entirely honest. And the fact that it only contains a mosque, rather than being a mosque, is irrelevant, because, again, the argument was criticizing the inclusion of the mosque.
MasauFuku 1 year ago
@MasauFuku It was a mistake, not dishonesty.
DLandonCole 1 year ago
@DLandonCole Iether that or you actually had not read what it actually stated on the webpage. But if you say it was a mistake it is good enough for me.
JRBendixen 1 year ago
@Rhysz1 Yearh you are right the same applies to thunderf00t. But DLandonCole makes quite a few of such. He also say that the center is a community, whern in fact it is religious center. He also say the name Cordoba was chosen because it represented a time of religious tolerance. This is also false the name was chonsen as it represented the hight of muslim history. And so on. When you stak all these points it seems to me that he far from honest.
JRBendixen 1 year ago
@JRBendixen Whether it is considered the "h(e)ight of muslim history" or not, it does indeed refer to a time where a muslim caliphate in europe was the center of cultural and scientific progress as well as a tolerant multicultural society. Note that it wasn't the only caliphate around but even fatimids and abbasids around the same time expressed tolerance towards other faiths and cultures and supported science and arts.
dalthroz 1 year ago
@dalthroz I sort of agree and giggle a little of the fact that it is almost an admission that the muslim world is in a state of bigotry.
JRBendixen 1 year ago
@JRBendixen Not the "muslim world", a vague and somewhat meaningless generalization. Westerners (and your a good example of this) equate the vocal minority of extremist and terrorist to muslims as a whole. That's what moderate like Rauf and many others try to change and so they should.
dalthroz 1 year ago
@dalthroz Should I called it "Islamic civilization", "Islamic nation" or "Muslim nations".
I generally view the term "Islamic civilization" as an oxymoron though.
JRBendixen 1 year ago
@JRBendixen None of the above, islam just like christianity is a compound of countless diverse practices ranging from extremism to not religious at all.
dalthroz 1 year ago
@dalthroz Have I said anything to the contrary?
JRBendixen 1 year ago
@JRBendixen Well, you view Islam and civilization as contradictory terms. I'm trying to point out that in different times and places muslim cultures were more tolerant, progressive and artistic than what they are thought to be today (and than other contemporary cultures). It would be dumb to think that this heritage is lost on all muslims today or that a religion that allowed it at a time is now intrinsically backwards.
dalthroz 1 year ago
@dalthroz My views are a lot more nuanced than you describe. You are reading between the lines.
Try reading this sentence once more "I generally view the term "Islamic civilization as an oxymoron though". "Generally" being an important word in that sentence, I hope you agree. I´m not much for people speculating about what I think. They and you can just ask.
JRBendixen 1 year ago
@dalthroz Further I find it quite funny how a lot of western nonmuslims think islam is ok, because it seemed to work a little in a time long gone.
But hey, people are free to think that muslims show tolerance while capturing slaves and working them to death.

JRBendixen 1 year ago

Did that make any sense?

JR, I'm not sure why you made this video, it's unusually agrressive for you. Did you watch this video in the context of Thunderf00t's which it was a response to? AFAIK in the US Religious center and Community center are basically interchangeable terms. (a bad thing absolutely) But that isn't the main point of DLandon's video, Which mainly was to point out inconsistencies in the video he was responding to.
Kind Regards,
Rhysz
Rhysz1 1 year ago
@Rhysz1 Aha, inconsistencies you say, that was what I have pointed out in DLandonCole´ video. I admit the video is quite harsh. The think is I got a little tired of people polerizing the subject. While tediously repeating tiny snitbits they thought would make an argument, without actually telling the whole story. So I went for the biggest gun out there I could find. continued....
JRBendixen 1 year ago

@JRBendixen Do you mean "Do you accept that 'contains a thing' is not the same as 'is a thing'?" I would have thought it's pretty obvious.
DLandonCole 1 year ago
@DLandonCole Depends on the context. And you come across as a guy with all the facts, so it would be obvious for me at least, that you mentioned this small but important fact. Important why you may ask, well what some people are protesting is the mosques. But you say it is a center, that is neither correct. It is a center with a mosque.
So do you think a center without a mosque would pissoff people just as much?
JRBendixen 1 year ago
@JRBendixen I come across as a guy with all the facts? I'm a bloke in his pants on YouTube!
DLandonCole 1 year ago
@DLandonCole I may have been exaggerating a little, but I remember you saying something about not being lectured by people whom have no facts. So I went for the effect.
Like the hat though.
JRBendixen 1 year ago
@JRBendixen Then you should listen again to what I said.
"I will not be lectured by someone who, so far as I can tell, has not even tried to research the subject at hand beyond the trivial and the superficial". That was a response to Tf00t's refusal to be lectured; given what I maintain are the fairly serious problems with his position, I stand by that comment.
DLandonCole 1 year ago
@DLandonCole Ha, all right and dandy, but even if he had not done the research, I have made a point that you havent either. Nor have I for that matter. I think the issue is somewhat more muddled by both of your argumentations and yours which represent the common take one on youtube had to be adressed.
JRBendixen 1 year ago
@Rhysz1 civility and politeness is extremely overrated, depending on the social and cultural context.
JRBendixen 1 year ago
@Rhysz1 continued. When I watched DLandonCole´ video it seemed obvious that he came out as one presenting all the facts. He did not. I have in fact quite a few issues regarding his videos and I really think his second video is loaded to the top with suggestions rather than any somber arguments or actual facts. I will make a few more videos showing his disregard for facts like, a mosque is a mosque, regardless what backage it comes in. To be continued, but there is not much more.
JRBendixen 1 year ago
@Rhysz1 I really have no problem with the mosque. Though I´m quite sure they are shooting themselfes in the foot on a short term. Also I got irritated at the fact that a whole buch a atheists bought into the community deal, even though they are excluded from the start. I could be wrong but but nobody here has even thought about it. Talk about irony. In short, what is argued for is the eqution discrimination=culteral cohesion. What a joke. last comment to come..
JRBendixen 1 year ago
@JRBendixen Ofcourse Park51 is a PR disaster for American muslims, but that's more of an angle played by the religious right. Atheists can't be excluded from a community center or they will lose their tax status IIRC.

@Nightmare060 What are you on about. I fail to see how you can miss my point, that DLandonCole was far from truthfull. That should raise some eyebrows at least.
JRBendixen 1 year ago

JRBendixen 1 year ago
@JRBendixen The problem with that argument is that this is not a religious building. It's a community center for everyone with religious praying rooms. The community center should be promoted by the government, rather than just the mosque part.
Nightmare060 1 year ago
@Nightmare060 ? That made little sense. The community will get communal funds, for being a community center. Not a mosque. No matter let me get a few things straight.
why should govornment support a religious building?

@Nightmare060 I will go so far as to state that all my points are baked up by hard facts and you have never even looked into this matter yourself.
I mean, even Cole agrees with my facts. Just to quote him again:

@2:23; Quote mining. There will be a mosque there, but the whole building still
Nightmare060 1 year ago 8
@Nightmare060 Thanks for your comment. I think I understand your position.
1. I did not say either he nor the morons on the street protesting the center were right. I was trying to point out that If I was to take him seriously, then he should have said that, there is going to be a mosque. But it would most likely be a but a small part of the projekt. It is a point of being honest. Exactly the same goes for the street crowd.
JRBendixen 1 year ago
@JRBendixen I'm sorry, but that is still a huge nitpick. How is he being dishonest by saying it's not just a mosque, but a community center. And yes, just because it's being organized by people of a particular faith, doesn't mean that it's a center for the religious only. Your making completely irrelevant points and calling DLC a moron because of it.
Nightmare060 1 year ago
@Nightmare060 The moron part is mostly I admit for effect. About the rest, well if I make an association for capitalists with explicitly capitalist leaders as a rule. Would you then argue that such a place would further the civil discourse with kommunists and make them part of their civil community? What I´m trying to say is that most association like park51 that from the start discriminates, while promoting integration, often accomplices quite the opposite. Try thinking about it.
JRBendixen 1 year ago
@Nightmare060 2. It is a religious center, because they state so up front and the leaders are purely selected by religious affiliation, not counting secular humanists, atheists and as far as I understand it buddists, hindues ect. ect. So why call it a community center if it all comes down to what religion you aspire to, just to get a chance to seriously make a difference. I guess my point is not waterproof, but I suggest you go readup on the links in the description box.
JRBendixen 1 year ago
@Nightmare060 3. Did I say or argue that the threat was taken too lightly. I stand by my point that he was dishonest. And I`m begging to suspect that it was intentional.

@Nightmare060 There was no quote mining. DLandonCole, has even stated had there was too much irrelevant stuff in my video. It does matter, the people on the streets saying so are alone evidence for that(no matter whether we agree or not). This is why the man, whom presumably got all the facts right, is just plain wrong.
How daft can you be.
JRBendixen 1 year ago
Thanks for your reply. So far as I can tell, your only objection to my video is that I say that Park51 is not a mosque.
It is not a mosque. It contains a mosque. My lunchbox today contains, amongst other things, a pastrami sandwich. That does not mean my lunchbox is a pastrami sandwich. You say yourself that it is 'a religious centre containing a mosque'. I would say, btw, that it can be both a religious centre and a community centre at the same time.
DLandonCole 1 year ago
@DLandonCole It is interesting that you say it is not a community centre and then cite, as evidence for it being a mosque, the website for Park51 that says, at the top of the page from which you quote, 'the community centre at Park51'. It also says, on the same page, that the mosque will be a separate non-profit within the same building. There is a publishing company in the same building as where as I work. That does not make my workplace a publishing company.
DLandonCole 1 year ago
@DLandonCole I have broadly made two arguments on Park51. One is a rejection of the opposition to it, for the reasons I have given in the video to which you are replying, and the other is a positive case that Park51 may actually do some good that I have only mentioned in passing.
DLandonCole 1 year ago
@DLandonCole Even if Park51 were just a mosque, that would only counter my positive argument and not the rejections: to wit; that the Cordoba Initiative is not comparable to the Westboro Baptist Church; that people are judged by perceived rather than actual actions; that Thunderf00t's reciprocation argument is a straw man; that reciprocation also weakens Thunderf00t's position if applied; that Thunderf00t's argument that Saudi Arabia is a typical, mainstream Islamic country is wrong.
DLandonCole 1 year ago
@DLandonCole I did not spend one word mentioning the WBC, you did and I only left it in because I felt it made a better flow in the video. Ie I would not make insane 5 second clips. But if I was you, I really would not go down that reasoning lane, as I have an idea for a video arguing that you made a fool of yourself on that exact point.
JRBendixen 1 year ago
@JRBendixen My point was that, even if you were right on the point you try to make in this video, that does not affect a very substantial part of my argument.

@DLandonCole So you are arguing that the mosque is not part of the park51 project. You seem to crasping for straws, or playing word games. I admit that the mosque most likely will be but a small part of the projekt, even so no one knows how large or small a deal it will be.
JRBendixen 1 year ago
@JRBendixen No, that is not what I am arguing. For the sake of clarity: the building at Park 51 will contain a mosque. That does not mean it is a mosque. The mosque will be a separate legal entity, as I understand it, from the cultural centre that will occupy the rest of the building.
Do you accept that 'contains a thing' is not the same as 'is a thing'?

You spelled humble wrong.
Fail.

@DawahFilms Sure I was drunk.

@JRBendixen
Oh please. Thinking that I'm doing things for "fame and money" just because I pointed out a spelling error?
Who's the ass here?
DawahFilms 1 year ago
@DawahFilms This is like talking to a 2 year old child, sigh.
1) Do you really not want to be a muslim "youtube scholar". I mean, you are preaching are you not?
2) You seem to promote a world view, in a way that "Is speak for every muslim child woman or man".
I think you are a young man with no skills and a pathetic record of accomplishments combined with some insane delusions of grandior. In short, you are a boy becoming a man. Dawah, to live by the words of a phedohile is really uncool.
JRBendixen 1 year ago
@JRBendixen But hey, instead of disrespecting the words of your god by playing games(you are going to a nonexistent hell), you should message me with all your knowledge. I´m not certain but at some times I thing I´m more friendly in PM´s. No guarantee though.
By the by, I care nothing for your god(muhammed) rules.
JRBendixen 1 year ago
@DawahFilms I care nothing for your nonexisting god, but I feel obliged to remind you the words of the phedohile : "Say kind things to people". You have not said kind words to me, so by your own reasoning you are going to hell.

@DawahFilms About being an ass, I am contemplating making some very funny videos about you. The combined clips of you making death threats and talking about getting islam back to the roots in a future, way may have some entertainment value.
And the oxford clip you link to. Well both of the idiots seems to disagree with you on a lot of counts. how can that be :)

I´ve difficulties in understandig the fireceness of this "discussion". Are the christian fundies in the US THIS powerfull?
0PsycoDad0 1 year ago
@0PsycoDad0 Hmm, hard to say in so few words. Still I would say they have some power, but far from anything like control. The US seems to me to be a house devided, but still in good working condition :)
