  • Well, Frank's work changed me. His work along with Eddie Harris' work and a handful of other musicians pushing the envelope of music evolution made me realize that this life is worth living.

  • Maybe Frank was in a bad mood in this interview. I used to be really cynical and it made me depressed too much, Since changing my outlook I find people to be nicer than I expected!

  • @happyness1957 he was being sarcastic, in the interview you can hear the people laughing and him smiling like it's obviously a joke

  • I wish I could understand what he says.. (i'm italian)

  • @wildone93 yet you just wrote a perfect sentende in English. Busted!!

  • wow! He can really be a downer

  • 1:08 ....that's wrong!!

  • Great man. I already knew/thought most of these things...like all great men Zappa really isnt anything spectacular...it's often what makes them so great!

  • "all people are assholes until proven different"- best quote ive ever heard

  • Hope for the best -- prepare /expect for the worst; Reality is usually somewhere in between. I don't see that as despair -- its just real life mental conditioning.

  • this is from "Ein Leben als extravaganza" by those two austrians (forgot yer name guys, sorry).

  • Frank was unattached, he created his music because he felt it was the most natural thing he could do. In a perfect world, Frank would never have had to endure any kind of music industry, or mindless consumer... he would simply compose his music, and record it, sole for the sheer pleasure it would bring him. ARF

  • @zerokool5string It doesn't take a 'perfect' world, it just takes a sane society.

    check out The Venus Project

  • He is expressing the philosophy of nihilism and its logical conclusion, utter despair and pessism. I'm not saying he's wrong, but that's his philosophy.

  • @ytuseruber I reckon he was being half-ironic in this statement, might have been after being asked a stupid question by a stupid interviewer. His philosophy is much more than that. People have the right to be pissed... even FZ :D

  • @ytuseruber That is entirely untrue. He was a truth sayer that exposed the realities that lie beneath the surface of things. I'm sure his intention in doing so, was nothing but positive.

  • @ytuseruber I can't see how despair would be a result of looking at all positive things in your life as a privilege.

  • 0:40 to 1:06 was brilliant

  • Only Frank Zappa could sum up life with so much accuracy in 1 minute and 25 seconds lol

  • how wrong could've frank been! or maybe just very modest, but i think he's changed many people's view on music, at least.

  • damn right

  • yeah st-etienne
