  • when i got this, i hated it because of the noise -.-

  • It sounds like my microwave

  • DON'T GET THIS FAN CONTROLLER, I HAVE HAD IT FOR ABOUT 10 MNTHS AND NOW ITS FAULTY, IT BEEPS BY ITS SELF NOW UNCONTROLLABLY AND THE TOUCH SCREEN DOES NOT RESPOND, WHAT A FAILURE OF A PRODUCT.

  • hey it it does it(this sentry 2) takes power from only 1 4pin connector...?????

  • @saurabh93051

    yes

  • Comment removed

  • Just bought this. I cant make the fan speed work.. the blue bar is not lighting up. when i press + or - nothing happen. i checked all the cable and fans are working fine. it just i cant control the speed..

  • Found out that this is a must for most self built gaming PC that uses FAN as a cooling method

But the CON is that each channel uses 10w to control if you have more than 5 then this is not for you .

5 channels = 50w thats hell lot for a temperature control

  • Can you turn off the annoying beep? Or is it not as loud as it sounds?

  • @phytra you can turn it off :P

  • Comment removed

  • can we switch off the leds with this controller ?? is thr any controller which can do tht ??

  • @ashin4u not as far as I know, unless the fan itself comes with one.

  • mine does not save settings after reboot? can anyone help me?

  • Comment removed

  • Quick question here, is it possible to turn the beeping noise on the fan controller *off* ?

Thanks ahead of time to anyone who answers.

  • @i1b4i8 Yes, it is

  • just a question if i connect this one in my pc is this automaticly turn on?! cause im not sure if mine is fault.... it didnt turn on... please help

  • will this work with 4 pin fans?

  • With the fan controller, can the rpm be changed on LED fans with only 3 pins? I havea few coolermaster R4-L2R-20CK-GP lying around, are these suitable?

    cheers

  • does it support 6 fans ?? Reply plz

  • @Fissz01 max 5

  • @Fissz01 No only 5

  • they need to cut that beep out. sounds horrible.

  • hi i have nzxt sentry 2 fan controller make my fans noise ,when i connect the fans into the motherboard fans are silent ????? pls help

  • @SuperPeppinu you need pwm fans

  • It sounds like my microwave

  • cool thing

  • is it good and worked for a while, because i want to buy it.

  • Can u turn off that sound its annoying

  • @ThePurpleFish12 yay that makes it about 9000 times better xD

  • Sweet :)

  • does anyone know which fans work well? some fans have a ticking sound problem... something related to pwm ...

  • Is there anyway to mute that annoying sound when configuring? xD (beside destryoing the speaker) xD

  • @Ozai01 you mean the bip? there's a on/off symbol at the right , press it once and there will be 2 bips, that means mute... press it again and there will be bips again

  • is the screen capactive?

  • Question begs if its cold enough will the fans stop completely. I need a fan controller that can do that as my PC sits in a extreme environment as when its cold, there is no need to have fans on at all. The temp can raise to 40+ so i need full speed in that case!?? Is this the best for that?

  • nice demo

  • I've had this controller before. Beware. There isn't much control... 40% is as low as it goes. The beeping noise you can prevent, but the temperature probes are inaccurate.

It looks cool cause it's a touchscreen but there are way better controllers out there.

  • @Aslapacrosstheface i know this was a long time ago, but are there any other controllers out there you can recommend? i just built my first pc and am in the market for one. thanks!

  • Can you change to Fahrenheit?

  • @xquailx801 yes

  • very nice

im orderin hopefully today on newegg

  • show!!

  • That is a HORRIBLE beeping noise! Any way to prevent that?

  • @nowthendanny yes it has, just cliking in a bottun

  • @nowthendanny I saw on another review that.. If you notice the little power button in the lower right of the panel mutes the beeping and if you hold it down for 3 seconds it blacks out the hole panel

  • @nowthendanny

you can turn off the sound by pressing the power buttom for i think 1sec

  • can you PLEASE make an installation video..??

i have no idea where to install the probes..

  • I have had mine for a week and it's pretty sweet especially compared to the dumb knob versions that cost more. (got mine for 25 at directron) You can turn the beeping sound off by touching the power button in the lower right corner one time, holding will turn the display off. Touching again turns the display back on. The thermal diodes work pretty damn good but my only complaint is I have tons of wires running around my case. I guess you don't even have to use the diodes if you don't want.

  • Dont buy it worst fan controller i have used looks good but doesnt do a very good job at handling the fans.

  • mine doesnt beep, THANK GOD. lol. i would return it but nah.

  • For people not reading further through the comments there is a widespread issue with this unit where many people have experienced noisy "buzzing" fans (possibly some kind of voltage problem that is probably caused by cheap components), it has also been confirmed by NZXT that there is a problem with it and they have still not fixed this problem and put out a better version of it. People have also had other problems due to the poor quality components

    don't buy it (imo)

  • @thenine83 ya the problem is with lcd fans or enlobal bearing(maglev). My lcd enlobal does not like it however my other 80mm enlobal without lcd has no problems. It might also be beacause it's a cheap fan. However, this is a 25 dollar touch screen fan controller with thermal diodes....obviously it's not top of the line (that would cost you like 85 bucks at least and still probably have knobs)

  • Is the temp measure at the fan controller or is the thermometer extendable?

And Can the sound be turned down/off?

    Cheers

  • @MrGreekdog

Yep sounds like a Microwave, FFS that turned me off

  • @Desinii you can turn it off

  • looks like a techno dance party XD

  • You can buy this from Puterz Ltd (UK)

  • are the power output connectors 3 pin or 4 pin molex??

  • Is there a way to change the temperature gauge from Celsius to Farenheit?

  • @IareDirectional Yes, there is actually.

  • @IareDirectional i have the same ?

  • I read of problems that it creates a clicking of buzzing sounds coming from the fans. Could anyone confirm or deny this? It's supposed to be a problem with all the units.

This could be a serious dealbreaker.

Read more about this problem: nzxt (dot) com/forum/showthread.php?7146-NZXT-Sentry-2-fans-strange-noice

  • @Cam4cha it hasn't personally affected me. I read that it's with certain fans, but it doesn't make that noise for me.

  • @Cam4cha

I read about this as well on multiple sites and people mentioning it in amazon customer reviews (amongst other issues - it basically uses crappy cheap components and I did think the price seemed quite low for a touchscreen device like this), and they still haven't fixed this problem and put out a revised model yet.

I would recommend not buying this product.

  • Just installed mine!

  • i just bought the NZXT M59 Black mid case, i really want to buy this too, it fits in PERFECTLY, i need help though, is there any shops in the UK were i can buy this??

    thanks :D

  • Just bought this Controller cant wait to install it.

  • I so want this. I have 4 or 5 fans in my rig, and I want to be able to control them individually. But, I don't want a standerd knob, I want some style too. This will be perfect.

  • can you turn off the beeping noise or make it quieter?

  • I dunno, I don't want my computer sounding like a microwave. beep beep beep.

  • @Yerizzo there is a sound off mode

  • i liked it.. but i hate the sound is it possible to turn that off?

  • @MattiDaimen Yes. Tap the 'off' button once.

  • Hi im gonna buy 1 of these. But can u disable the sound? Sounds like my microwave XD

  • @Ponten09 Yes you can. Just tap the 'off' symbol in bottom right corner. I've just ordered one and a review elsewhere gave me this info.

  • @Will762 ok. =) Thanks

  • @Ponten09 /watch?v=D6k4jKP76qE

  • Shit that sound it makes when changing a setting sounds like an air conditioner.

  • would i be able to connect fans from a case that already has a controller to this? I wast to use a coolmaster storm sniper and use the Sentry as the fan controller. is this possible and how? thanks in advance

  • Does this work with ANY 3 pin fan? or must they be some kind of special fans? thanks

  • @Aristowi Yep, any 3pin and 4pin molex(need adapter though).

I think they all work based on resistance, more power, fan speeds increases, etc

  • @Awayze Thanks mate

  • I have a 80mm fan connected to a fan controller and when I lowers the fan speed it makes more noise than when it's running at max.

why? It should be the opposite

  • @Coltrain11268 xDDDD

  • Are you able to hook up any computer fan to this device? Please reply :).

  • @goguda55 The Sentry 2 has 5 3pin fan slots on the back. You can use molex fans through molex to 3pin adapters.

  • @goguda55 yes

  • sounds like my fucking microwave

  • @Coltrain11268 LOL - Agreed.

  • can you stop the beeping???

  • @Timizkool that was REALLY REALLY annoying!

  • @Timizkool yes, there is a button for that.

  • @Timizkool yes

  • can I have 6 fans connected to it. like 4 of them having their own control and 2 of them connected to one control. by using a 3pin Y adapter? thanks!

  • @JetJL buy a splitter,

it would be like 1 connection for two fans

  • you can have as many fans put on one line as you like. I have this controller and i have 3 120 fans using molex on one line. the reason being is i use them on a single rad. in a push configuration. works wonders when i want quiet over performance

  • can fan controls full more power so it makes the fan spin faster than the speed it goes when u first bought it, like if the ran spins 2000rmp and that's the fastest it goes but u buy a fan controller can u make it spin around 2500rmp or more?

  • I've got the same controller it's got molex and 3-pin connectors too ;) You can turn off the fans completely, sound and display hope it helps someone ;)

  • how did you get the apevia 120mm to work with the fan controller i have the nzxt senrty lx fan controller what do i need to since its only molex connection

  • Lol all those fans...just chillin out...

  • Can this Control Cathodes Also???

  • Can you turn off the beep?

  • I want one of these but i want it to be able to switch the fans completely off, can this?

  • @ecotts it can, he shows it in the vid.

  • @oOOjoeriOOo Of course his does...lol Excuse me while i just slap myself up side the head for being silly

  • @ecotts hehehe

    no problem mate :)

  • how do i know if all of my fan coolers are already working @ 100% RPM?? all of them are already connected to the PSU and i cant really see it's speeds.

  • did u see that, 40 % is lowest fan speed then zero

  • pretty neat, but that beep sound is just so annoying lol

  • @vanderdevil u can turn of that sound

  • Question: Does it fit into the CDRom Slot?

  • @BerlinerBretchenBude herp a derp durr hurr

  • Sound like my microwave :D

  • Mine stopped making the beep sound after first shut down and then next day when i rebooted the pc, and im okay with not hearing the beep sound so im happy.

  • Wish they would have made this beep a little louder I can't hear it

  • Does the controller save the settings when the computer is shut off?

  • Everybody shows how it works, but never showing the wires and how to connect

  • Is there any way to shut up the "beep"? (without killing the speaker xD)

  • @paintboy89 I found the way to shut off the sound when ever you wish to, just tap the power button and that should make a two quick beep sounds, now your sound is off, tap it again and the sound is back on.

  • @AznShigsta I don't have this product. But, when I buy it, I'll do that. Thanks a lot =)

  • annoying "beep!"

  • Esse Apito BIP BIP BIP é muito Chato (boring bips)

  • what does the auto mode do? does it really increase/descrease fan speed to aim for a certain temperature?

  • jeah i think so, but dunno the goal temp

  • That looks fun lol

  • It does have only 10V per channel. However, what you want to look at is the Current, or amps of your fans. Usually a pretty small number depending on the fan. Then all you do is take that small number, and multiply by 12. For example I have a Scythe 120mm fan rated at 0.26a. 0.26 * 12 = 3.12. So as long as that number its under 10V you are fine. I have 2 of those fans hooked up to each controller, 2 * 3.12 is less than 10V, so Im fine.

  • @Belanger3167

    3.12 Watt.....

    P=VI

where P is in watts, V is in volts and I is in amps

    not Volts...

  • oops. my bad.

    Also DeusEx...thanks for that...fucking prick.

  • That must be VERY expensive. WOW.

  • 30 bucks off newegg

  • @FRURMELLL

    in gemany 30€

  • excellent vid. thanks

  • OMG that beep! lol

  • What i noticed is at 0:36 when you push it from 0% up by one it jumps automatically to 40%, i hope40% is what they were making you stay at for a minimum fan speed since i want a well conditioned case for gaming but yet silent.

  • @LeafVillItachi

thats because ~40% of 12v is 5 volts, the fan controller cant do any less than that because thats what the lowest voltage rail on the psu is supplying to it

  • ohhhh thanks didn't know that!

  • Comment removed

  • I'm getting this!, it's really not that expensive, i found it on ebay for 33 bucks AUD (28-30 USD) !

  • i was just looking at this fan controller online and i was going to buy it. now im not going to because that beeping is stupid

  • turn it off and everything is wonderful.. :D

  • How do you place the heat leads?

  • i laid (unsure if correct xD) then behind the mainboardtray, coming out over cpu, and them pushed them (carefully!!) between two blades of my cpu cooler...

one betwenn my ram sticks and the others on each of my hdd's

if u don´t have 3 HDD's you should place the lead somewhere central in your case to be able to read out the overall temprature.

    ;)

  • Hey man, I got one of this fan controller, but i used a fan with 4.5 Watts and it didn't work, is it right ? What the potency of this fans in this video ?

  • holy fuck the beep sounds so fucking annoying..

  • There is a simple way, to turn of this annoying "Beep"-Sound:

In the lower rigth corner you can see a Symbol. Just tap this once, your Sentry 2 will "Beep" one last time and then it will bei quiet.

  • thats the display on/off not sound on/off

  • No, its the sound on/off

i have my own sentry 2

  • it's both...

if you hold the button it will shut off the display...

(touch anywere to reactivate it;) )

if u just tap on it it will switch between sound/quiet ;)

  • lol, it works :D

Thank you for teaching me the mastery of NZXT Sentry 2

    EXP +50

    LEVEL UP: 17

New Skill unlocked: Resetting the Sentry 2

  • i was suprised too ^^

  • Yeah but now you have to buy new hardware to match your skills. That's gonna bite.

  • @Kalywonkas

    how do u mean?

  • when i put 3 fans on a radiator shoul i use fan contrllorer?

  • BEEP BEEP...First thing i will do when i get this is destroying the speaker...

  • haha hell yea!

  • I like that you can turn the fans completely off. But yea that beep is ANNOYING, they should have a sound button.

  • will this controller work with 4 pin fans?

  • it would.. but if you will have to connect them with the 4 pin molex adapter.. because 4 pin connectors don't fit in the normal connection.. but this should be easy to handle =)

  • its a microwave

  • damn the fucking beep.. what an awful controller.. it makes my brain hurt

  • I'd tear the speaker out on this thing..

  • BEEP. BEEP... BEEP BEEP BEEP.. BEEP

  • this made my day thanks

  • Hmmm I was hoping it would tell RPMs as well.

  • i have a cooler master storm scout, will it be able to control the stock fans it comes with?

  • anyone know whether you can turn the sound off? i love it accept for the beeping

  • can you kill the sound off ?

  • yes tap the on buton to switch ;)

  • I have the original Sentry 1 controller in my machine...Its aweful. I should have gotten this.

  • Should i buy it? other thrn the beeping looks like a great speed controller.
