DON'T GET THIS FAN CONTROLLER, I HAVE HAD IT FOR ABOUT 10 MNTHS AND NOW ITS FAULTY, IT BEEPS BY ITS SELF NOW UNCONTROLLABLY AND THE TOUCH SCREEN DOES NOT RESPOND, WHAT A FAILURE OF A PRODUCT.
Just bought this. I cant make the fan speed work.. the blue bar is not lighting up. when i press + or - nothing happen. i checked all the cable and fans are working fine. it just i cant control the speed..
With the fan controller, can the rpm be changed on LED fans with only 3 pins? I havea few coolermaster R4-L2R-20CK-GP lying around, are these suitable?
@Ozai01 you mean the bip? there's a on/off symbol at the right , press it once and there will be 2 bips, that means mute... press it again and there will be bips again
Question begs if its cold enough will the fans stop completely. I need a fan controller that can do that as my PC sits in a extreme environment as when its cold, there is no need to have fans on at all. The temp can raise to 40+ so i need full speed in that case!?? Is this the best for that?
I've had this controller before. Beware. There isn't much control... 40% is as low as it goes. The beeping noise you can prevent, but the temperature probes are inaccurate.
It looks cool cause it's a touchscreen but there are way better controllers out there.
@Aslapacrosstheface i know this was a long time ago, but are there any other controllers out there you can recommend? i just built my first pc and am in the market for one. thanks!
@nowthendanny I saw on another review that.. If you notice the little power button in the lower right of the panel mutes the beeping and if you hold it down for 3 seconds it blacks out the hole panel
I have had mine for a week and it's pretty sweet especially compared to the dumb knob versions that cost more. (got mine for 25 at directron) You can turn the beeping sound off by touching the power button in the lower right corner one time, holding will turn the display off. Touching again turns the display back on. The thermal diodes work pretty damn good but my only complaint is I have tons of wires running around my case. I guess you don't even have to use the diodes if you don't want.
For people not reading further through the comments there is a widespread issue with this unit where many people have experienced noisy "buzzing" fans (possibly some kind of voltage problem that is probably caused by cheap components), it has also been confirmed by NZXT that there is a problem with it and they have still not fixed this problem and put out a better version of it. People have also had other problems due to the poor quality components
@thenine83 ya the problem is with lcd fans or enlobal bearing(maglev). My lcd enlobal does not like it however my other 80mm enlobal without lcd has no problems. It might also be beacause it's a cheap fan. However, this is a 25 dollar touch screen fan controller with thermal diodes....obviously it's not top of the line (that would cost you like 85 bucks at least and still probably have knobs)
I read of problems that it creates a clicking of buzzing sounds coming from the fans. Could anyone confirm or deny this? It's supposed to be a problem with all the units.
This could be a serious dealbreaker.
Read more about this problem: nzxt (dot) com/forum/showthread.php?7146-NZXT-Sentry-2-fans-strange-noice
I read about this as well on multiple sites and people mentioning it in amazon customer reviews (amongst other issues - it basically uses crappy cheap components and I did think the price seemed quite low for a touchscreen device like this), and they still haven't fixed this problem and put out a revised model yet.
i just bought the NZXT M59 Black mid case, i really want to buy this too, it fits in PERFECTLY, i need help though, is there any shops in the UK were i can buy this??
I so want this. I have 4 or 5 fans in my rig, and I want to be able to control them individually. But, I don't want a standerd knob, I want some style too. This will be perfect.
would i be able to connect fans from a case that already has a controller to this? I wast to use a coolmaster storm sniper and use the Sentry as the fan controller. is this possible and how? thanks in advance
you can have as many fans put on one line as you like. I have this controller and i have 3 120 fans using molex on one line. the reason being is i use them on a single rad. in a push configuration. works wonders when i want quiet over performance
can fan controls full more power so it makes the fan spin faster than the speed it goes when u first bought it, like if the ran spins 2000rmp and that's the fastest it goes but u buy a fan controller can u make it spin around 2500rmp or more?
I've got the same controller it's got molex and 3-pin connectors too ;) You can turn off the fans completely, sound and display hope it helps someone ;)
how did you get the apevia 120mm to work with the fan controller i have the nzxt senrty lx fan controller what do i need to since its only molex connection
how do i know if all of my fan coolers are already working @ 100% RPM?? all of them are already connected to the PSU and i cant really see it's speeds.
Mine stopped making the beep sound after first shut down and then next day when i rebooted the pc, and im okay with not hearing the beep sound so im happy.
@paintboy89 I found the way to shut off the sound when ever you wish to, just tap the power button and that should make a two quick beep sounds, now your sound is off, tap it again and the sound is back on.
It does have only 10V per channel. However, what you want to look at is the Current, or amps of your fans. Usually a pretty small number depending on the fan. Then all you do is take that small number, and multiply by 12. For example I have a Scythe 120mm fan rated at 0.26a. 0.26 * 12 = 3.12. So as long as that number its under 10V you are fine. I have 2 of those fans hooked up to each controller, 2 * 3.12 is less than 10V, so Im fine.
What i noticed is at 0:36 when you push it from 0% up by one it jumps automatically to 40%, i hope40% is what they were making you stay at for a minimum fan speed since i want a well conditioned case for gaming but yet silent.
thats because ~40% of 12v is 5 volts, the fan controller cant do any less than that because thats what the lowest voltage rail on the psu is supplying to it
i laid (unsure if correct xD) then behind the mainboardtray, coming out over cpu, and them pushed them (carefully!!) between two blades of my cpu cooler...

Found out that this is a must for most self built gaming PC that uses FAN as a cooling method
But the CON is that each channel uses 10w to control if you have more than 5 then this is not for you .
5 channels = 50w thats hell lot for a temperature control
