Their bench is always farmed, their pitchers are always farmed. In 2008 they had the second most farmed team in baseball, the Angels had them beat. EVERYBODY ELSE was less farmed. Since then, everybody farmed that they lost was replaced with somebody else that was farmed, and their free agents and trades replaced with other free agents and trades. They picked up 2 starters in 2009 that replaced 2 non-farmed starters.
They lost Melky for a free agent. I'll give you that one.

Trading for guys to develop and filling holes with serviceable free agents aren't quite the same as outbidding everyone else for the best free agents available almost every year.
I'd say a better indicator of how "farmed" a team is would be percentage of total payroll spent on those players.
Yankees buy up all the best talent, but they generate revenue and are good for baseball.
