  • bless your soul old friend

  • this guy could really write a song .one of his best is this.

  • Beautiful and touching version of a top song ... thanks for posting ... Wayne

  • When i get sick, i stop being sad and be awesome instead ! True story !

  • I'm stupidly happy I'm the only person brought here by Goodreads Brian.

  • Very nice job, but one correction -- it's the Bluebird Theater in Denver.

  • how can i download this plsssssssssssssssssss?

  • enjoy every sandwich

  • I love this song so much, I want it permanently engraved on my brain.

  • Well, he got 2 out of 3. He never got old and he never got stupid.

  • God I love that picture of Hunter playing Doctor on Warren haha.

May you both be tearing shit the fuck up in heaven!

  • I hate it when some popular show uses a good song and the people are like "this show brought me here". Try expanding your musical horizons yourself!

  • @boiledhooker I think you should try to think the other way instead. It's good that popular shows, like Californication, uses GOOD music so more people get to hear it and expand their musical horizons. It's not that easy to find good music by yourself, depending on what you're looking for. Sometimes you need a little push, whether it's from a TV-show or movie. Don't hate it, be glad that people get to hear it and maybe they wanna listen to more of Zevon or something similar.

  • @harchert Exactly the case with me. Californication, besides being the best thing on TV by a mile, has turned me on to some great music...

  • I'm gonna admit it. Didn't like Zevon before Californication... but that was an opinion based solely on Werewolves Of London. I appreciate it when TV can turn me on to something awesome. It doesn't matter how you get to liking a band... if you feel it and like it, power to you.

  • Zevon rocks!!!

  • Californication braught me here (2)

  • Californication braught me here

  • You hear kids these days blasting rap and hip hop in their cars. If you pass me you'll hear Mr. Zevon, max volume.

  • Warren knocked ya like a brother and it was alright

  • This is a heartbreaker. In the form of a waltz, no less.

This song makes me appreciate Warren Zevon all the more, after 30 years of being a fan. It makes me feel mournful for all the people I've lost in my life. What an artist he was, and what a shame he died young. He fulfilled his talent, though. For that we can be grateful.

  • Good prayer. Wonderful song.

  • I love this song. Warren Zevon was a great song writer and and a great artist.

  • Like I read before, I'll give anytime Bieber or Gaga or whoever to have Warren back.

    WE MISS YOU!

  • Warren Zevon is dead, but at least we still have Ke$ha... what a cruel world.

  • @EatTheElves so true

  • @EatTheElves lol Ke$ha? ha ha....not even in the same ball park....yeah we have justin beiber tooo

  • One of my favorite songs.

  • Well Dearest Warren, you didn't have to get old, and you were definitely brave. RIP.

  • enjoy every sandwich

  • I don't play this song unless I plan on listening to it at least 5 times in a row.

  • @flamingo123455 There's many a time when I listen to Warren Zevon all day and many a week when I listened to little else.

  • The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long...Warren was a Klieg light on a constant power surge! Wish I could see you play live again.

  • Thank you Warren Zevon, I will keep you in my heart for a while.

  • when you are an artist of this caliber--you don't die--your songs live on and on--what a legacy

  • I heard about Warren on Californication, didn't think much about him or his music back then but once I heard this song I realized that I was wrong. He realy is one of the greatest song writers of all time.He looks like a cool guy, sucks that he is not with us anymore,it would be great to see one of his live shows.

  • @frankid5: Me too! So glad I caught that episode... this is one of my new favorite songs. :)

  • What a great song and what a great voice. I only wish I could tell him to his face.

    Thanks Warren.

  • I think Warren would appreciate the sad irony this song now holds

  • We miss you Warren....Rest in peace...

  • Enjoy every sandwich.....

  • I'd never heard this one before. Great! Saw Warren in the 80's at Rosie's, a small club in New Orleans. He was drinking tumblers of straight Stolichnaya. Didn't seem to affect his performance one iota, though it clearly damaged his life a good deal. Whatever -- he is one of the great gems we will ever hear as a songwriter. Wonderfully quirky, witty and intelligent. I miss that intelligence.

  • saw Nancy had favorited....one of my favorites of Warren's....what a nicely done video!

  • @MrRiblet Thanks - and to Nancy as well.

  • whefta....make us play nice.........after seeing tons of snotty remarks lately under so many songs i have went to.........boy do i think exactly "play nice"...thanks nancy for this beautiful song feature......so beautiful........so honest!he has such an honesty in his face, eyes, voice, lyrics...

  • good music, good song..

  • Warren Zevon is one of the most brilliant songwriters and composers this country has ever seen. I've been a huge fan of his ever since I saw him perform Werewolves of London on TV when I was 10 years old. 32 years later, I still love listening to his recordings.

  • ahhhhhh makes me wish for a different world. this one is tough.

  • @musicjock3 It isn't great but sometimes it gets better, sometimes. In the interim this mightn't be the best WZ to be listening to - Maybe time for Boom Boom Mancini???

  • Message not to be forgotten.

    WZ was genius

  • So glad that so many have enjoyed this video I posted.

  • @hwyisalive It is wonderful. Thanks!

    NAncy

  • This has so often been my mantra in my relationship. We can love each other better and have so much to be thankful for. God bless Warren Zevon. <3

  • Beatiful, simply beatiful, the most eloquent prayer I've ever heard. R.I.P. Warren...

  • Today was the first time I've heard this song & it really hit home, it brought tears to my eyes & I'm not normally an emotional guy! Great number.

  • my prayer tonight, too....I want to play nice

  • "sniff sniff" i might cry...I miss wawrren !

  • Very nice. Thanks.

  • The real beauty in this song is that it's a prayer that is answered in the short term - you won't get sick right now, you won't get old at this moment, and you can be together tonight with whomever. Eventually you'll get sick, you'll get old, and you can't be together with whomever you like, but right now, when those words are being said, the inevitable has yet to happen, and everything is okay.

  • RIP,Warren was great

  • Don't let us get sick, don't let us get old, don't let us get stupid all right . .. Just let us play nice . . . sound advice - RIP

  • to keep me from thinking of mine. sometimes that's all that keeps you alive and w.z. knew it. he's also the first one i've heard that put it in words.

  • it sucks that he is no longer with us...his music is amazing, and he is missed.

  • we're all sick now

  • wonderful artist.

  • Zevon: One of the greatest song writers of all time!

  • @taotracer Amen to that right now from the grave he's helping me cope with end of life issues as I wait for my mom to pass in this hospice. For anyone going through similiar situations I highly recommend some Zevon and Moody Blues it won't take away the sadness but it lifts it to a higher level.

  • @taotracer There's only a scant fewI'd even consider in his league, maybe even small handful I'd consider equals...maybe. But for the life of me I can't name one better.

  • WOW... That's what brilliance sounds like... We should all leave such a gift!

  • Keeping Warren Zevon in my heart and in my home for all my days.

  • Holy Cow! Zevon, Jackson Browne and BELUSHI got together??? Let me guess, ...they all went to church? Staggers the imagination.

  • Jackson Browne preformed this last saturday...it was awesome

  • I was there too dude! Great concert.

  • wonderful song.

    True Legend!

This man didnt care what anybody thought of him and did things the way he wanted. What a true legend and a great human being.

  • I miss him too........

He will forever live in my heart!

  • Hail to the Genius !!!!!!!

  • Love may be a pretty heavy word to pass around.

Especially if it is a feeling for someone one only knows through their music.

Warren is one of those many who are no longer with us who I can feel love for.

I don't make a pracice of buying "Biographies for profit" about musicians who are supposedly described by those who knew them personally.

Based on what I've read on YT about Warren being an asshole at times, I ask, who hasn't?

  • *sigh*

    I miss him.

  • Bob Dylan eat your heart out!
