  • This game generates a new RNG table every time you start or continue a scenario. Save states preserve the RNG table which is why you'll get the same result every time. It's not the same thing as hitting the reset button.

  • @mjemirzian you are completely right and this is why hes having trouble using a save state instead of re-loading, reseting etc

  • He's much better in the rest of the Alpha series. I found Alpha 1 underwhelming in the fact that most of my Super Robots took like 10 damage from normal enemies. I wish there was more niche for Super Robots and Real Robots. Although in that game once enemy pilots had Potential or what not activated, my Real Robots couldn't do more than 10 damage to them.

  • Kou in SRT A (gba) and Alpha & Alpha Gaiden (PSX) is good i'm using it till now.

    but Kou in the Original Series till F Final is SUCKS.

    as you said, he can't hit any unit. even the weakest ones.

    ALSO I had NO idea that you can switch pilots around. Though I've been happy with keeping Amuro in VGundam and everyone else in their stuff. Yeah I can't read Japanese.

  • I've found even Kai more useful then Kou.

    atleast Kai has the Luck sprirt.

  • Kou's just not useful in a game filled to the brim with Newtypes, especially if you go on the Titans route and get a bunch of Newtypes with funnel-capable MSes. He probably wouldn't be as bad in another game, though. Just that late in the game, even Kamille in the Zeta Gundam can't keep up, Kou never has a chance.

    As for Kai: well, he rocks. Kai with Luck and the Methuss seems like a good combination, until you get a surplus of UC ace characters.

    Atleast Kai's Luck sprirt is helpful for those darn high price upgrades.(which i put kamille in that GP-03 mech)

    Still trying to find a usful Mech for Kai since i keep on hacing him switch between alot of mechs

  • Kou really isn't bad for this game if you consider his attack stats, but his aim will be bad throughout the game. Even if you boost the GP-01 fb to the max, Kou can only boost his aim on DC gundam type pilots to about 80% (which means the enemy will somehow dodge it as if it was 40% aim in SRT3). His aim at ace pilots will be terrible. However he hits hard when he hits....

  • Kou just needs a little loving when you use him. First of all, keep him in GP-O1 and max its stats out as soon as you have the chance, specifically health and reaction time. The machine performs very well in space to boot.

    Honestly, I never had a problem with Kou once I got him leveled up, and he did a good job as a workhorse in the team. However, I feel God hates Fa in this because the enemy ALWAYS aims for her. ALWAYS.

  • Dude, the save state-trick doesn't work until SRW games after OG. So GB,NES, and SNES games won't reset the turn's probabilities before it's played, so you only can check with the states if the hit's going to land or not, but nothing beyond that.

  • You know what screw it i know couple of people in japan and ask them to give it to me for the VC in gift channel.( I was planning to get the translation but im too lazy and don't know how to work emulators, plus my comp sucks like..ummm what sucks worse than waiting in line for an 1hour and what you were trying to get is sold out?)

  • Where did you download Super Robot Wars 3 for the SNES with the AGTP English patch?

  • The patch is located at AGTP's site (just google "Aeon Genesis"). You'll have to find the rom on Google as well, and use an IPS patcher, such as Lunar Magic, to patch the rom. Make sure to read the readme for the patch, as some versions of the rom aren't the right size.

  • Nah, this game was made before Gundam Wing was made. You'll be happy to know that AGTP is working on the PSX game Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden, which has all the Wing boys--in addition to all the classic Gundams, including the rarely seen Gundam X and Turn A.

  • Cool, Im trying to find the rom to it now so when the translation is done I can get it immediatlly but I cant find it. I got Super Robot Wars 3 and its really addicting. I got to the point where I go back into space and GP-01 gets boosters.

  • Yeah, I had a lot of fun with SRW3. I didn't find the GP-01 very useful, other than that it had a good move range, which is why you see Kou in the Kaempher in the video. The GP-01 and the Alex (NT-1) Gundams seem WAY too weak in this game, especially since their pilots aren't Newtypes to begin with. Gundams get less useful later on, too, with Funnel units pretty much replacing Gundams (other than the Nu Gundam, of course).

  • Do Gundams really become so outdated? I'm not very far in right now and the Zeta seems to be really helpful.

  • Yeah, you get the Zeta really early and it's great for the time, but it's the worst Gundam for the Gundam aces you get. Unless you switch Kamille to one of the other Gundam units, it's hard to justify using Kamille even though he dodges just as crazy as Amuro does. If you get any extra funnel using MSes with characters you don't like, put him in that.

  • well it's definately true that the NT-1 is worthless, would it be better to just put Amuro in it like he's supposed to be?

  • this is nothing. I quit this game because some pilots have 80-90% chance of hitting and would miss (happened 4 straight times in 1 turn) frequently. I also couldn't stand how slow it was to launch mobile suits; if only they had an auto random thing to send them all out instead of going to the main ship and sending them out individually a dozen or so times.

  • it can help him at least raise a lvl. if he use the spirit for double xp. about going to 11 or 12.

  • Kou is too weak in srw3.Basically non newtype gundam pilot need to have high level to beat the low level enemy.Otherwise They can't hit often.

  • hahahaha Kou sucked indeed in this game, though you had him at a much lower level. I played this game over and over lots of time, this brings back memories... and in all those memory Kou sucked :) I upped him once over level 60 and he still sucked... But I guess it just corresponds with the anime, in which he also sucked at piloting.

  • Whether he sucked is debatable; anyone able to go up against the Nightmare of Solomon in a direct fight twice and live to tell about it can't be a poor pilot. But in terms of Gundam heroes, yeah, he's pretty weak--"only" an ace, but nothing mindblowing.

    I ended up using Kamille in the GP03 so I shouldn't have bothered raising up Kou anyway. I suppose he might be a good choice for the Methuss for repairing, though: I used Roux but Kou might be better than her, not sure.

  • Thinking on it; it must be before upgrades were carried over... still while he really is a medium skill pilot... he does get that big hulking engine of destruction the GP-03 in many SRT's

  • My solution for this is to let Kou get the finishing blow with the shotgun on huge ass monsters with low reacat rather than robots. They can't evade as well as robots and hopefully the shotgun will add a useful 20% to acc. You can get better results if you fight enemies outside the meteors since they hamper acc. Oh and GP-01 isn't half bad when it goes FV as it can outrace anything on foot.

  • Try SRW G for the game boy its hard as hell i have it i am close to the end but these jerk is so fast and has a beam coat i can hardly do any damage her.

  • The way hit chances were calculated in the early SRT games was very odd and not random at all. At some points in playing, because I'd save every turn late in the game, I'd end up knowing which attacks would miss in a given turn and I would have to either use a higher hit attack to try and get to whatever magical number I needed to hit or have a unit whiff one so I can get the next hit with my attack of choice. This really led to some interesting (and hard as hell) battles down the road.

  • Why would you even bother bringing lvl 9 Kou to a game where he's clearly outmatched lmao. By that level my Kou was at least level 25...20 levels is a huge difference man. God doesn't hate Kou Uraki--you just had him ridiculously underlevelled.

  • He meant that the display indicated a 100% hit rate. Besides, even a level 9 Kou can chip off that little bit of life.

  • BTW, try playing with the mouse. You won't have to keep scrolling with the keyboard. Go to system -> cntl and switch on the mouse. Afterwards, press 7 or simply select 'snes mouse in port #1' in the config. -> add ons.

  • Heh. From when I played SRT 3 and 4, I think your hits/misses are calculated at the beginning of each round (making save states useless for getting a hit in), since I had that same problem with lots of other mechs too.

  • Yeah, that's what I've found after a bit of experimenting. Sometimes it seems to help if you have another unit perform a battle action before using that unit to attack. My Kou is a good level, now that I know to attack using a different unit and then go back to Kou later.

    Yell seems to help a bit too, if your character has it, but doesn't have LockOn or Focus. I'm not sure if it increases accuracy, or just resets the hit/miss calculation, however. I'll have to notice the next time I do it.

  • haha so true.. Save states also saves the RN.. tip: use other people first and then try using that character. you might get lucky.
