  • Soo glad to see him wearing a back support. He is a damn good plasterer too just after watching the first minute of the video you can tell from his technique. I was searching for ages on which back support to use, and just found the answer after looking for the proper pronounciation of 'stucco'. Lol.

  • @rezpatriot Hey Patriot, I have been wearing a back brace for about 30 years (old chronic injury) I have at least 10, the one I am wearing in this video is the best. I have tried every kind known to man and found this particular one the best because its works and I can still move comfortably all day. Best wishes, and have a groovy day!

  • Yes, I know what you mean, just take it nice and slow and most importantly correctly. Right now I'm skimming a wall in a bedroom because it had texture, after that I'm going to prime and paint, from there move on to the rest of the inside of the house.

  • @gabe321 There you go brother, take your time. And have some fun, Kirk Giordano plastering

  • Thanks, just take my time and research.

  • @gabe321 Hey Gabe you are way ahead of the game. Most people are to indifferent or lazy to acquire facts. I have been guilty of this fact many times myself.

    Best wishes and have fun.

  • Cool, thank you so much, just want to learn and save some money at the same time. I'm currently redoing the rooms in my house and soon after the floors, last will be the outside of the house, just researching in how to do this kind of work.

  • @gabe321 Your welcome Gabe, Like I tell my kids, it's best to ask someone who has accumulated allot of time in. Best wishes with your projects.

  • Do you need to pull a permit to do stucco work on you're house? I'm planning on doing my own work.

  • @gabe321 Hey Gabe, Sometimes, each city is different, If you replace window and plan on moving a header you do. If you are planning on changing your wood house to a stucco house, most require a permit. I would suggest you call your city explain what you have in mind and simply ask if it's necessary. This kind of information is free and you are not obligated. Great question, have a good day!

  • Great video. I have a question - is that double felt tar paper under the chicken wire layer that you need to put on before you stucco? Also can you stucco over TyVek? Or do you need tar paper over TyVek before you can stucco?

  • @DelMarSportsCamp

Hey guy, yes, code requires two layers of paper. I have gone over a few homes where TyvVk is the first layer. Usually installed by the home owner. I, as a rule always apply two more layers on top of the TyVek. I buy the spot glued double felt paper as its just as easy to lay on top as single ply and some cities wont classify the TyVek as one. I like to play it safe and not get beat up with a technicality.

    Have a nice evening.

  • If you're going to do a how-to video, get some decent audio, a steady camera and some fucking light.

  • @teeye1 Thanks for the tips.

  • Hi tayman, that's allot of extra work, my job is to simply match the textures whatever they may be. thanks for the opinion, and have a nice day.

  • They should of just knocked off the wall and started fresh. Looks like half the wall is the patch. Cheap home owners.

  • For 1 thing use a fucking darby .

  • No problem, I am an expert with a Darby, 3 of my first years in the union I worked behind a gun. The company I worked for would spray at least 4 to 11 homes daily depending on whether we were scratching or browning, I would be the lead Darby man or in many instances the only one. I did this for over 3 years straight. 40 hours a week. You eat like a horse and become amazing good with a Darby. It 's also one of the most physical jobs in the plastering industry.

  • Easy, Asparrow, All ignorance is, is not knowing the answer to some questions. I am ignorant in many things. Fortunately, since I explain and demonstrate how to apply stucco, my ignorance is not in the stucco field.

Besides what good is filling your head with general knowledge when you can go to Google, type in the question and it will give you the answer ten different ways?

    kirk Giordano Plastering

  • That poor guy might be a little bit retarded.

  • how do you make sure the patch repair will be a perfect match?

  • Hi living up north. What I do is like all other trades, as in some people are good to great in their chosen trades. while others are tired and incompetent. It help to love what you do as I do. And allot of practice.

    Thanks for the question,

BROWN COAT Mixture to include one 94-pound bag of portland cement type I, one 80-pound bag of mortar type M, 2 bags of fibers* and 44 shovels of clean, sharp sand. Approximate coverage is 200 square feet at 3/8".

  • @StuccoPlastering Hey Kirk,try one portland bag,3.5 cups of lime,5 buckets of sand(22 shovels full)+plastisizing agent.

I get about 190-220 sq ft and its good mud to work with.

    Cheers,Gabe.

  • when I am applying certain types of skip trowel finishes I will sometimes take it off the top. but at the risk of sounding arrogant I can pull it off the top, bottom or the sides. I can also use either hand to hold my hawk and both my right or left hand to trowel with. Thanks for the response.

    Kirk Giordano Plastering

  • fail. take it off the top of ur hawk

  • thank you Brazilian, kirk giordano plastering

  • Excellent. The best on youtube.

  • Firstly well done for uploading a video. A cheater? Never seen one of them. What are the properties of the mortar? Standard sand cement lime? If the cheater could somehow have hand grips on the side so you don't get mortar on your hands. The video doesn't show how flexible the cheater is. I like the scratcher. I normally find myself some tin and cut angles to a point like a comb with tin snips.

  • @ron1martens you can buy these cheaters at Westside building formally know as Alta building supply located in Oakland. Westside calls them cheaters but I have heard about ten different names for this tool.

Your right you would think it needs handles but after you use it, you feel the need to use it as is. Just grab the edges. I suggest wearing gloves as the ones I am wearing as they are waterproof.

Best wishes, and thanks for the question, Kirk giordano

  • @StuccoPlastering Thankyou for your reply. I found them on Marshalltown online. I see you wear a back brace. Is there extra strain on your back.

  • @ron1martens

I always were a belt, it helps so I won't hurt my back. Just a precautionary measure.
