I know you sent me a message before Katz about my anti-Australian rants, however, i feel I need to say that I hate these people and I truly think these disasters were a blessing from God. Amen for killing racists Aussies.
yeah that there are psychopaths who light fires everywhere (if you say global warming i will kick a puppy).
good video Katz, any money given amounts to a large sum in no time...even with the current financial crunch they have into the double digit millions of dollars to assist with everything.
I'd just like to thank everyone for their kind sentiments. It really has made a difference to myself and many other Victorians and Australians. In particular i would like to thank the US among other nations that have sent fire fighters to assist our exhausted fire crews in battling these fires which are still burning. Some of you may have heard of the flooding in Queensland. Some Queenslanders are refusing aid and sending it to Victoria instead. How selfless is that.
Hey Katz glad to see and hear you back in voice. A heartfelt vlog that definitely needs attention. It hit home for me when on the Wed after, I had to walk past the Coroners Court and all these large white marquees had been setup. That was chilling. Hopefully we can learn from some of the mistakes made from this fire because I think we forgot stuff since 1983's Ash Wednesday.
You make some valid and serious points: if we could see for ourselves we would ALL give money, but it's our hardened attitude to news broadcasts that we don't feel anymore.
Great vid! I'd love the chance to go there and help but our new"head honcho" doesn't want us to go out of state hardly, much less out of the country! Thanks for posting!
I know what you guys are going through. A few years back fires raged through British Columbia, the worst in history, and killed hundreds of people, killed the entire middle of the province. I do understand, and I wish that no one else dies.
wow this chick actually reads her vid comments... gotta be a shitload comin in every hour i cant imagine how u keep up tho...................... neways just dropped in here for a sec so.. yeah
Australia has taken a massive blow...Bushfires, floods...People all over our country are suffering right now, so every little bit helps! Thank you Kat
"every little bit helps!" So true!!! Thank you for saying that, it shows kind appreciation for even the little things folks are able to do to show support.
I agree and I did donate at the time Katrina came through, much more than Au because I could afford more at the time. I know folks are still building New Orleans and if you have a site I can refer folks to I'll be more than willing to put it on my profile. New Orleans is one of my favorite places that I have been to in the states. You know I found the community there very similar to folks in AU. Very hardworking and at the same time know how to enjoy life relaxing with a friend or neighbor.
... and "this woman" is standing right behind you.
*quick! flee!*
lol! again, comments like this make me feel like I'm overhearing other peoples conversations... especially with it being so random. But I betcha Hugh or AngryAussie would love the compliment, and you could click on an ad too... costs you nothing and the .0000000001 cent goes to the red cross. Like I mentioned before, just a thought.
imo we're all dead by 2014 or maybe 2015... planet needs to reset life anyways, we're always learning and well.. maybe too much for our own good :) bam bam i got my bets on global warming.. u know.. floods wtfPwnin us .. mmm so anyways i was gonna say that fire donations r nice n all but its bullshit compared to the other "bad" things in the world .. your money tho so whatever ..mmm.. nice day
it is true as I mentioned in the vid, there really is a lot of terrible tragedies worldwide and it is overwhelming isn't it? I guess we can only do the best we can. Some people might want to help in this case, and like you said its up to them, no worries either way, but you don't have to give money to toss a supportive comment to folks *shrug* so it was just a thought.
lol? I'm thinking you wrote that just out of habit yes?
A couple of causes: years of drought, recent high temperatures and wind coupled with down power lines, lightening, some unknown reasons and for some of the fires, arson, which is a horrifying thought.
No. But donating blood is always good in any country. You could head over to a bushfire vid though and send them well wishes? That would be just as good.
...and "she" is standing right behind you. *giggle* comments like this in the third person makes me feel like I'm overhearing another persons conversation. thank you for the complement, if you could pass on your kindness to an AU bushfire vid, that would be very cool.
This is quite unfortunate. I've already left a comment on hughsnew's video about the fires. It's odd how I've heard just about everything about this fire from youtube. Be well.
yeah, it has been where I get updates now that CNN online isn't really covering much of it anymore. Thanks for taking the time to leave the comment for Hugh too.
I lived in California back in the 90's that burned alot of houses in Southern Calif. I lived on the Tustin base and watch as the fires came really close to us and it was very scary! My heart goes out to these people! Thank you for this vid Kat! Hugs to ya, Bay
I would like to point out that no one should ever go through this absolute horror. Have any of you witnessed a person succumb to heat exhaustion? Unable to get up - as flames lick there feet I lost two best friends at kinglake. I fortunately did not live there but I was visiting. It was seriously like the atomic scene from terminator two, the flames were that fast you couldn't even out drive it - our tires melted, we are lucky that we could seek shelter in the concrete rain tank at gibbos place
Oh my gosh!!! I can't even IMAGINE that. When I heard about the cars not being able to outrun the flames... I was horrified. I've heard about that for tornado's or flooding but never about a fire. HUGE sympathies for you and your friends. My thoughts and heart out to all of you.
oh! haha my bad. i didnt say i before but, even though im 16, and i say that because most teens dont really care about anything other than what theyre eating for dinner, this video really touched me and i will try to donate as much money as i can. which means how much i have saved in my piggy bank hah.
@katz20two thank you so much for you kind thoughts. Just went for the one year reunion round at GIBBO's place, it's almost rebuilt now. We went and had a smoke inside the concrete rain tank we sought shelter in. Ironic... sitting in something that was saving our lives, whilst slowly taking our lives with the very elements that were trying to take our lives... makes you think about life I guess...
Wow. It seems like you just got there and that was over 2 years ago. It is a very sad situation. It makes one realize how bad it is when 10s of thousands die in natural and other disasters in Asia and Africa.
Very true! It is so sad and overwhelming. It also made me realize something that I noticed about the media recently, but have set that apart from this for another video.
You know what I've noticed for some years? If it happens where there are Anglos, you'll hear about it a long time, and it's considered terrible. If it happens where darker people live, you'll hear about it for a short time, with little emotion engendered.
We get some coverage here in the UK but our news crews are too busy going on about the economy. What the folk are going through in Aus just puts everything into perspective and if it wasnt for youtube many would have no idea how tough things are out there at the mo.
I'm so glad you mentioned this, so it isn't just the States, huh? Its been the same way for the media here too... I'll be putting up a video about that in a few days, its something that I noticed in the media recently, especially after I heard about the fires (5 days after it all started)...
Thank you so much for the video Katz, I live on the fringe of Melbourne about 30 k South of Kinglake, and 15 k South St Andrews both where hit by the fires, I was ready leave if came further South, thankfully the Southerly change came through. The other factor with the speed of the fire was the very high winds. Curently we have a number fire fighter from New Zealand and USA who have come over to help. Thank you for your donation every little bit helps, also thanks for you wishes, and thoughts.
Youtuber AngryAussie is donating all of his Feburary partner money to the cause. So if people can't donate they can click on his adverts. I lived through Ash Wednesday and thought that was a bad bushfire, but this was far worse. Thanks again.
I was in a hurricane in Oct 2003...isn't it amazing that on the East of the country we had more water than we knew what to do with while the west needed it?
It is amazing isn't it? extreme drought and heat on one end and flooding or extreme cold on the other. How is it that we can build huge mile long pipelines for oil but can't seem to do that for water? I guess I'm just hoping it is because of evaporation or other practical reasons as oppose to just monetary.
I know you sent me a message before Katz about my anti-Australian rants, however, i feel I need to say that I hate these people and I truly think these disasters were a blessing from God. Amen for killing racists Aussies.
