The mysterious door lock click sound is actually the selector switches in the hoistway flipping to let the controller know the car position. This car is a freight. Should have no passengers, but freight handlers. The Dover is the ADA required passenger elevator.
hollah...the moderns elevators are so loud and difiult to check it...and the old....you have sometimes two motors one the big one and the sekond is a helpmotor who you can sometimes make off, because you have a switch in the passenger room...and you have the relais romm....and you must only look are they ok?...but today you must check all..th displays, the sensores...and much more.
wow....that is old. --and as you said, solid. they used to make things to last...craftsmanship. unlike now where they use cheap materials and just throw things together
the whole thing is unsafe, did you see that gate slam? also the fact that if you put your hand through as kids would feel the urge they could lose it!! wonder how many global accidents there have been
@MKUltraProject When I was a kid, most elevators were like this, and I still have all my fingers. They are completely safe, and far more attractive the hideous contraptions being installed now.
creepy old elevator..I'd rather climb than to use that alone..with those click..click..click..on it..

@MonoChorMe It's to make fine adjustments to the elevator's position - something that comes quite good when loading heavy carts.

I don't think it is safe for those doors to unlock when the car is moving. Wouldn't someone fall down the shaft? What is the capacity of that thing?

Well, that's why that design is prohibited in new installations.

The name Fujitec was officially launched in the late 1960s on Fuji Electric elevator products.

Why would anyone use this old thing when there is a nice huge dover across the hall?
dontwalkhand 3 years ago
Probably the same reason they listen to oldies but goodies! Although older elevators have more character and don't beep for every beepin' floor.
Most likely this is used as a service elevator.
NEXPAR 2 years ago
You don't need a beep for every floor - the relays up in the motor room would actually suffice!

jesus call and said leave his ele vator alone
biggiebrain 3 years ago
Heh one side of the hall way has a modern elevator, the other a retro.
And that might be an automatic gate, but I'll bet it's just as good as a manual at jamming fingers XD
FranceHopper 3 years ago
I guess so, and also, the door lock click sound resembles the floor passing signal signal from the selector relay.
CaptainElevator42189 3 years ago
is that elevator easy to access?
