  • Gordon Ramsay told me to cook the fish skin side down

  • why do i have to put into the oven? can i just finish cooking all in the skillet?

  • is that 7 min each side or total, please clarify...i burnt it tp shreads ...waste of fish

  • @1warriorclass1 no thats total..7 per side is why you burnt it

  • waaaaaaaaayyyy to much salt...waaaaaaaaayyy too much...

  • No finished product?

  • that looks overcooked

  • @yuefeiyu - yes I think so too. Personally I like my salmon very pinkish.

  • If Gordon Ramsay sees her, he's gonna scream "Hurry up! Customers are waiting, HUNGRY!" till' her face rips apart!

  • i just ate some salmon and i fell in love

  • i love salmon dishes

  • Love your cooking show Rita!!

  • I ended up using mostly dry seasonings (garlic powder some lemon pepper) and the other stuff. I did have some lemon juice in a bottle. I ended up doing pretty much what you did without the herbs then tossed it inside some foil with some butter and put it in the oven for 6 or so. It was amazing. I didn't have fresh fish just some frozen salmon in a little bag but it was way good. Much better than just tossing it in the oven like the directions on the bag said. Thanks for the insight!! =)

  • gawd thats liek swimmin in oil, u could reduce at least like 90% of that oil and cook the salmon skin side down let it cook off the oil that comes from the skin side

  • noob cook.

  • This is awesome, Good food.

  • i want to try it for my daughter

  • I'm planning on making this recipe, but I haven't got any ideas on what to make with it, any ideas?

  • im going to make the dish you made there. we dont have lemon grass in the mall so i hope that isnt important. the dish looks very delicious but to serve only salmon isnt great so i guess im making some patatoes and carrots. i hope my parents and my sister like it. im from holland and im 15 almost 16 years old and its my first cooking dish so i hope its going to be alright.

  • Salmon has omega 3 and is highly recommended to people trying to lower their cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. The Dash Diet the #1 diet in the country also includes salmon.

  • I never add oil to Salmon, It is oily enough! In fact when I finish cooking the salmon the recipient is usually oily enough that I use it to cook mushroom without adding oil as well.

  • YUMMY

  • Hello! Have you considered intellectus 424 diet (google it)? Ive heard some great things about it and my mate lost a ton of weight with it.

  • my healthy Organo Gold coffee can help people also just this ponder coffee that does not give you those jitters and oxygenates the body

  • Kensei85

I have not tried Gordon's recipe but will do so ASAP.

  • Looks nice, I only like salmon if it is well seasoned, Gordon Ramsay's crispy-skin salmon is my favourite but I'd like to give this a try. :)

  • I WANT SALMON NOW! with lemon seasoning -___-

  • In two weeks will use this recipe for my next Movie Club.

  • Disaster.

  • Made this and it was really salty. Use less garlic if you have the minced jar mix. Love the lemony taste though!

  • Going to taste with oil & seasonings is what makes it "your" recipe. Thanks for sharing.

  • @RecipeCook i used butter, pepper, garlic salt, and meat tenderizer for mt 3 slices of talapia. it tastes delicious!

  • @cyberwaffles Sounds delicious!

  • Love that I made it along with the video- took less time than the 8 minutes! tastes great! i defs put less oil, and way less of the seasoning- perfect with 8 minutes in the oven (my pieces were a bit thicker)

  • Too much seasoning....she puts handfulls.... (# _ #)

  • Awesome. I'm not familiar with Masterfood finishing sauce. What is it?

  • I made it today :-) YUM it was though I topped it up with Masterfood finishing sauce for fish... I served it with spaghetti

  • Works for me >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ;-)

  • Thanks for your input.

  • There are to many pieces of fish in the pan. Thats why when you flipped them they were not well colored. You wound up setaming them not sauteing them Although no real harm l guess as salmon steams nice, and you had aromatics in the pan, but as far as the technique, it is incorrect.

  • You make cooking salmon look so easy! It is one of my favorite foods! Kudos to you!!

  • Just what I like to see a women a kitchen

  • That looked delicious

  • fish spatula, not tongs :(

  • i love a nice piece of salmon. the first thing i do when i get some fresh salmon in front of me is put my fingers in it and then smell them to see if its fresh. then if it smells good i cook it up and go to town.

  • Thanks alot for sharing this, i'm going to try it out myself. Going to test out some different spices, aswell as some orange slices in there.

  • Let me clarify - it depends on the thickness, how many pieces, if I want to brown it off first and finish in the oven either right away or later. In other words, you can cook it through in the skillet or do like i learned in a restaurant: get a nice golden skin and finish in a hot oven. And you can always use less oil if you want.

  • fanastastic looks good.

  • Salmon is best to eat medium-rare (hope that term apply to fish), or just to eat it raw (yes, i am a savage)

and for the skin, many Asian cuisine season and cover the skin with flour, and than deep fried it.

For the head, it can be made into soup

That's the best way to utliize every part of the fish.

  • Lovely Lady

  • my terrible oven doesnt go that high :c

  • Looks yummy and healthy!

  • SALMON ALL THE WAYY ~~~~~

  • i also think theres too much oil...u kinda boiled the skin...which makes it disgusting...if ur gonna cook in oven..u might as well get rid of the skin...or else sauteed salmon should give it a crispy skin with less oil...just my opinion tho...

  • Salmon is the best fish to eat and it has natural oil which is good for the heart

  • @iksnoronski Just leave the skin on because that subcutaneous layer of fat is where the omega 3 is at.

  • that is the most delicious looking salmon I've seen in my life

  • your method isnt a secret way to check if soemthing is cooked all the way its just standard procedure pick big piece open and see

  • you should always heat your pan first then add your olive oil. never put oil in a cold skillet and let it heat up like that.

  • This looks so good!

  • just eat sashimi... it's easy, healthy, and tastes the best!

  • I LOVE SALMON! especially sauteed. Thanks for the recipe

  • i'll like ur kicthen n ur cooking recipe share on youtube thank's a lot

  • Love, love, love your excellent recipe and easy going demeanor. Making dinner for my boyfriend tonight and you saved the day!

  • thank you for your recipe!

  • You have such a nice kitchen :)

  • This looks so good!

  • I love you rita!

  • Thank you for sharing this. Your philosophy of thinking about with whom we are sharing our food is a great motivation for cooking-which I find often elusive. As a new mother and wife, I know you have enriched our life.

  • @SOJ721 Glad you liked it. And just wait till the little one is older and can help you "cook". They love to get their hands in dough, so check out my shortbread cookie recipe - originally from the "elves". Rita from AboutEating.

  • @RecipeCook Just want to make sure . is it 7minutes each side? with 6 minutes in the oven?

  • @SOJ721

    Lady it's just fish...

  • @SOJ721

I'm 15 and i'm looking for something to cook for my mom and sister and me tomorrow... So it's not only mothers who are watching this .____.

  • зачем показывать как готовить рыбу... вариаций много, хоть жарь, хоть парь. Это не рецепт совсем

  • "Sauté de saumon" Thanks that was super good !

  • King Alaskan Salmon is the best salmon.... and it's best Broiled

  • @dlo814 with a little bit of salt and lemon

  • I love food... but really, love starts in the bed!!!

  • I like the way you cook and narrate. Very mommy:)

  • lemon peper BBQ salmon is my favourite, maybe i will put up a video on how to make that...

  • SALMON

  • i am so hungry right now... all i have is ramen.

  • In another video, did'nt she say not to use anything acidic in cast iron pans because it will break the seasoning? What about the lemons?

  • @almington17 Sometimes I use acid ingredients in cast iron. Mostly, a small amount of wine, citrus, etc. Acid in certain foods can compromise the seasoning in time. When using these ingredients I clean the skillet, wipe it dry and then put it on the stove over low heat for a minute or so. Then I coat it with a light coating of oil with a paper towel. I let it sit on the heat another minute or so and then wipe excess oil off. This keeps my skillets in great condition. Rita at AboutEating.

  • @RecipeCook Good info. Thanks.

  • Rita is really cute and fun to watch :)

  • you dont need to put it in the oven

  • fish without fear?

    EVERYBODY RUUNNN ! !

  • ...so much garlic... ehhh

  • surely all that salt you put in would be bad for your heart so would cancel the good fish properties out

  • It really boggles my mind that nobody ever mentions radioactive Uranium when they discuss Salmon. Oceans are full of it and salmon concentrate this radioactivity.

Should also mention that sea salt contains radioactive radium. Radioactive radium is more toxic than radioactive plutonium.

  • Watch this empowering video on the movement to save wild salmon in BC, Canada. Youtube search: Triumphant Victoria Finale for Salmon Migration

  • I'd finish it up with butter...

  • i dont want to be rude... but how much do chefs make? and wat schools should i go to so i can become a chef? and i want to live in newyork if that makes a difference

  • wow i loved this video so much. thanks for making it!!!!

  • should have seared the skin and cooked the salmon in just some infused vegetable oil by adding garlic and lemon grass and letting sit and absorb the flavors and cooking with the vegetable oil u can use less to not make the salmon more oily than it is and it should not stick as much seeing that olive oil has a lower burning temperature than vegetatble oil

  • i never feared fish O.o

I guess its from my far east culture xD

  • i got me some fresh Atlantic salmon and i got me some lemons in the fridge dinner tonight is gonna be delicious

  • Good lord my mouth is watering over here!! I'm going to try out this recipe this evening. Thanks!

  • this is a "sauté de saumon" no ?

    maybe a missclick

and what is the gras used after the garlick ?

    thanks =)

  • i think that there's too much oil in the skillet, salmon is already very oily..

  • @CrocsRuleXD you need the oil so it doesn't stick, i have to make this dish at school.

  • @CrocsRuleXD Yeah... there is a little too much oil. lol

  • this is one excellent

    recipe

    my mouth is still watering

  • everything is soo neat and clean

  • i dont understand why people put it in the oven, its fine the way it is after cookin it on the stove

  • @MsDonJuan100 i agree, would only make sense if it was super-thick. otherwise, it cooks through on the stovetop and doesn't need to be cooked like a steak

  • I know about your American Culture, but in my culture sometimes we just eat lemongrass fresh with salt. Like we don't cook it, we just take it out of the garden and eat it right away.

  • u cook it to flavor the oil

  • lol, i remeber my first time with lemongrass, man, those huge blades of grass really cuts you up

  • Salmon Soooo Expensive But Soooo Good:(

  • I shud have never watched this video. I'm HUNGRY!!! :( dammit. and i love salmon, oh wow.

  • I'd recomend to remove the garlic and lemongrass before frying the salmon. And you don't need to put the fish in the oven, it will be done on the stove top.

  • I always wonder why people put it in the oven.

  • I LOVE THIS VIDEO THANK YOU

  • The recipe sounds delightful but man.. I'd kill to have all those 6 BIG slabs of salmon raw!! With Wasabi and shoyu. Omg. Eating is raw is the only way of appreciating it =(

  • Oiya I do not believe I can understand what you are trying to say. =(

  • 1 SALMON IS RUINED ONCE IT HITS HEAT RAW!!! IS BEST SASHIMI QUALITY ONLY 2 , u dont need to put the oven on , just cover and lower heat to finish on the shove, 3 salmon is usually farmed thery are filled with chems and dyes of their feed is dyed to give it a pink look , REAL salmon is only pink when they are spawning. go to an asian market and try some other wild fish , like blue fish , monk fish, eel , blue crab, snapper , ,

  • you must be insane. salmon is only farmed if you buy farmed salmon.

2, other than a few varieties, salmon flesh is pinky orange ALL the time due to diet of krill and shrimp UNTIL they are nearly dead and spawned out when they stop eating and start decaying. you have this completely backwards.

  • Salmon is the best. I really love fish, thanks for this recipe. I was always scared of preparing this fearing I would over or under cook it.

  • Use a Spatula... please! The tongs destroy the fish. Otherwise lemon grass is a great idea, will use it next time

  • never tried with white wine? greetings from Rome

  • Excellent video. I adore salmon. I sprout organically and eat what I grow. I grow them in my kitchen. I'm also on youtube with my sprouting videos.

Thanks for a nicely made video. I will now add lemon to my salmon. You salmon looked scrumptious.

  • damn now im hungry lol

  • is it good to eat raw salmon

  • There were quite a few comments and opinions offered in the earlier comments. About a month ago serveral people offered their opinions. ~Rita

  • @RecipeCook i love salmon. i eat it every few days. I eat it raw like sushi, I eat it cooked and I eat it smoked in sandwiches.

  • @normalityzone No it is not. Please do not mislead people.

  • @normalityzone You can eat raw salmon, just find [GRADE A] sushi salmon.

We also refer to [Sushi salmon] this mean the fish is the highest quality available!

  • looks good..... but we never stab a fish to know if its cook .. we press the fish very gently to know the temperature of the salmon. dont destroy the beautiful fish.. .. but that looks so DELISH

  • Tried this for the first time, having never tried cooking salmon before. It turned out beautifully and I can't thank you enough for the recipe.

  • i love salmon so much. for a nice and simple meal, i cook it with olive oil in a pan, slightly searing each side for about 3 mins each and then put it on low for about 4 mins and let it cook, turning once and i drizzle with lemon in the pan. then i serve with a nice salad with avocado, rocket, onion which is drizzled with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and lemon juice. i dont add salt because the salmon doesnt need it and added salt isnt good for weight loss because it retains fluid in the body

  • Thank you so very much. You are awesome. You just may saved my life.I need to know how to eat right for my heart, and you have helped me do that .Thank you Tonia

  • You're welcome Tonia. My niece's name is Tonya, too, spelled a bit differently. ~ Rita

  • this is great!!! Thanks so much for the video ;)

  • Thanks, that was a good explanation !

  • does anyone know any canned salmon recipes?

  • if you type in canned salmon recipes on google, you'll find tons.

  • LOL!

  • hell yea rita ownz

  • The devil is always in the details. Could you please confirm that when you put the fish in the oven, it is still in the skillet and uncovered?

  • Beautiful

  • heyy, can anyone tell me is it healthy to it raw salmon, or can i get some kind of disease

  • you need to be very careful about where you get your salmon from if you want to eat it raw. I recommend just going to a sushi bar because most of the salmon you see in the markets are not fresh enough to eat raw.

  • thanks :)

  • i would only eat raw fish if it's from a reputable restaurant. don't eat it raw from a grocery store.

  • u have to get it from a fresh fish market(hardly any in u.s. but they have em in florida and california near beaches) u cant eat raw fish from supermarkets cuz those are the ones that will give u diseases.

  • it has to be flash frozen in a special fridge so it kills all the worms and parasites but maintains the integrity of the raw meat. Unless you don't mind tapeworms in your system make sure where ever you're getting it from it was once held in one of these special fridges otherwise always cook it. Many markets, even some that sell intending for raw consumption never flash freeze so make sure that it has been. High percentages of other population simply live with worms inside, I'd prefer not too.

  • Salmon, and most fish in fact, are perfectly fine to eat raw, so long as it's treated correctly.

What do you think sushi is after all?

  • I wouldn't eat it unless it was sushi grade and prepared properly. ~Rita

  • you can eat it raw and not have any problems, just remember, make sure the fish is FRESH, If it has a Strong oder, its not all that fresh, I agree with sirfaT,sushi mart is the best bet,but if you omit, raw fresh caugh fish doesnt have an odor to it

  • really... u havent heard of "sushi"????

  • were i live, sushi is not made of raw salmon, but i have heard of it so that's why i am asking, so i can try it,

  • Nice one :)

  • Garlic is very important with seafood....scrumptious!

  • rawr salmon is always nice :]

dip it in some nice soy sauce so deli :]

  • if you turn your lemon navel side down and squeeze it, you won't get any seeds or anything into it.

  • i tried this, i had no lemon grass, and i didn't have the recipie for the seasoning (so i guessed.) it came out great anyways :]

next time i'll try to get the recipies and all the ingrediants!

    thank you

  • Good Recipe...

  • Yummy, I'm hungry and will go and prepare some salmon right now!

  • i made it last nite and OMG it was so good thxs for the recipe

  • Overall I like this Lady's videos. Thank you to Rita! :)

  • since when do the french not use fat in their cooking.

  • Fat is fine. Saturated fat is bad. Hydrogenated fat is REALLY REALLY bad.

  • the whole unsaturated fat and saturated fat is a hoax. in order for the soy industry to sell their oil, they came up with a marketing ploy to take out animal fat for cooking. what's the only thing different between animal and plant oil? saturated fat. so they came out with a marketing scare to get people to buy vegetable oil. THERE IS NO SCIENCE BEHIND SATURATED FAT BEING BAD FOR YOU. and if you see something saying it is, check the source. you NEED animal fat in your diet. its essential

  • There is plenty of science supporting the hypothesis that saturated fats increases the risk for cardiovascular disease. check out this often quoted article for example: "Dietary Fat Intake and the Risk of Coronary Heart Disease in Women" . You can find it on Google scholar. Of course there is no consensus regarding these findings, but that doesn't mean it's a hoax.

  • @unjusdorange not only is it a hoax, but the people that put it out there, the marketers, even admitted it. There were no peer reviewed scientific studies that said saturated fats cause, lead to, add to, indicate or contribute to heart disease or even making you fat.

Boring guy that i am, i read microbiological papers that show saturated fats assist in cell membrane reparation and construction. Cholesterol, assists in the construction and reparation of cell membranes.

It was a lie to sell oil

  • i can tell your american. :p

  • right some people are just lucky to have weird metalbolism

  • I can tell you are very satisfied with yourself.

  • French ppl are rly thin you know. Ever been to France?

  • Did you actually read what the person wrote?

  • Yes, yes I did. And I just read it again. Your point?

  • his point is: even though you're thin does not mean you're healthy

  • @ncfwhitetigress The point is that you completely misread the comment and the original person said that people who eat a high fat diet ARE NOT healthy and do not lose weight -- then she points to the French as an example of the opposite (because its common knowledge that the French are thin and eat lots of fat.)

  • @kittenfactor Sorry I don't really remember what I was thinking when I made those comments since it was a whole year ago, but what you just said makes sense.
