  • ITS MANBEARPIG!!!!

  • In my opinion, the beast was either a bear or a large hyena, because bears are solitary hunters and they have fatally attacked people in the past (unlike wolves). But it could also have easily been a large hyena, because they have tufts on the end of their tails and that was one of the features of the beast. Also, both of these creatures would have been easily capable of causing the described damage to the victims' bodies. This is just my opinion though.

  • Cryptozoology novel see video book trailer

  • Ok, now that we know its not a wolf, can you tell us what it is, or are you going to further rule out possible animals as to highten our curiosity and anxiety as to what this animal is or if it even existed or still exists at all, sheesh.

  • Yes guys, there is no possible way for a wolf to attack a human because they are shy of them.... my butt. Just because an animal has grown shy to humans dosnt mean it wont attack, even deer for crying out loud will attack a human when defending their young, so im sure a wolf will.

  • yesh it waz framed u liars! tru dat scientist postative blah blah on wolves

  • watching me.... oh where i <3 wolves yaaay watching meeeeeee

  • I wonder if it was a surviving cave hyena?

  • WE'VE ALREADY BEEN TOLD IT WAS THE SIZE OF A COW, SO IT CAN'T BE A WOLF.

THE MOST LIKELY EXPLANATION IS THAT PEOPLE WHIO DIED IN THE MOUNTAINS WERE THEN SCAVENGED ON, AND THE SUPERSTICIOUS LOCALS BLAMED THE WOLF/THE DEVIL/ MYTHICAL BEAST - DO SEE WHERE I'M GOING WITH THIS?

  • @SAVAGEGREENMACHINE IS THERE ANY NEED FOR CAPITALS?????

  • @scotofarabia is there any need for a lack of them?

  • @SAVAGEGREENMACHINE TO ADHERE TO ONE OF THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF ENGLISH GRAMMER...YES.

  • i say the beast may a pitbull/wof hybird

  • @gojirafan345 AMAN PURPORTED TO TRAVEL TO AFRICA FOUND A FEMALE BEAST WITH BABIES AND TOOK THE PICK OF THE LITTER AND RAISED IT TRAINED IT TO KILL THE BEAST HAD RED HAIR AND LONG HAIR AND LONG SNOUT LIKE AN IRISH WOLFHOUND

  • I say it was a vampire

  • The fact that wolves are mostly peaceful does not exclude occasional man-eating wolves; there have been plenty of man-eating wolves throughout history, and, recently (late 1990's) wolves killed abnout 70 children in Uttar Pradesh, India, so large-scale wolf attacks upon human populations DO occur.

  • @ArchDufferJones the beast was a hybrid and was used by a serial killer

  • @thoostorm4 This theory is largely disproven, as most of the "facts" quoted by its advocates were actually invented by 20th-century novelists. There is almost nothing in the period sources which supports the "serial killer" theory.

I do however agree that it is likely to have been a hybrid, likely a wolf-dog judging by the description of the skull in Marin's autopsy (you can find the document online). Nevertheless, it is worth pointing out that wolf-dogs frequently occur in nature.

  • @ArchDufferJones OK CHASTEL KILLED THE BEAST TO COVER FOR HI SON I THINK CHASTEL BRED AND TRAINED IRISH WOLFHOUNDS THE BEAST WAS PROBABLY AND HAD HAIR AND A LONG SNOUT LIKE AN IRISH WOLFHOUND

  • @thoostorm4 As I said, this theory is largely disproven by all serious research. Stating your point with caps lock on doesn't make it any more true.

As I said, most of the "facts" about Chastel aren't even facts at all, since they were mostly made up by two early 20th-century French novelists. There is nothing in authentic period sources which may lead us to suspect Jean Chastel or his son.

  • man that old guy is badass

  • @CarolinaSkunkApe indeed my darling

  • why do so many religions think that all these different animals are representations of the devil? Shows people fear what they dont understand.

  • remember how they first thought that the beast might be a lion well the movie brotherhood of the wolf uses that theory the beast of gevaudan in that movie is a starved and tortured male african lion wearing a hellish suit of armor with a horrifiying battle helmet.

  • yea i seen that movie , i like the first fight scene in the rain.

  • paus at 1.06 XD

  • the beast of Gevaudan was a Hyena

  • Might be a wolf. Pumas of North America tend to avoid humans too, but they have been known to attack humans in desperation for food. It doesn't mean all pumas will attack but if that one puma succeeds, it may try again. That's why those who attack people are sought out and put down because it may attack again. So it's not hard to believe that a rogue wolf who had attacked and killed one person, decided that humans are easy prey. It may explain the attacks on villagers centuries ago in Gevaudan.

  • It is possible a lone wolf, starving and injured, did do some of the attacks but it is very unlikely, the witnesses would've noticed any injuries, there were none, and wolves are typically ambush predators, they wouldn't risk injury attacking someone head on

  • where does it say "chuck norris"??? because i didn't hear that ANYWHERE in the clip, but i'll try and keep my ears open at that spot to see if it was there or was something else!

  • it could have been a phycopath with followers. who wore pelts to sneak up on people

  • thats a good theory

  • I'm not sure dressing as a massive canine beast is very inconspicuous.

  • I don`t think anyone of you thought of this:the murder was a guy but he trained a big large dog or something to kill and he was near the kill but the dog did the work and the guy tore the head off

  • i heard somethin like that so its plossible with somethin like a masstiff or a german shepard or somethin that can fuch shit up.

  • I actually met the one who killed all these people back in the 1760s two years ago at the San Maurici lake in the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park. She lives there in a small and remote hut and is over 500 years old now. She said she does not feed on humans any more, but one day she might start again just for old days' sake.

  • Chuck Norris

  • This is not a bad comment, it's actually pretty funny, so stop rating it like it's offensive or something.

" Chuck Norris " Laughed my ears off ! xD

  • yes but the usual moving of an hyena wouldnt fit to the evidence and lions wre well known in europe that time(for example shown on family crests) so i don't think the witnesses(?) would have told stories about a wolf-like beast if they had seen a lion

  • Actually it is hypothesized that this creature was rather a mix between a wolf and dog, thus creating a far larger and stronger animal. This strain would also possibly produce an animal that is less afraid of humans, as wolves typically are man shy.

  • possibly a cave hyena, or a surviving European lion

  • Actually, it is hypothesized that this creature was rather a mix between a wolf and dog, thus creating a far larger and stronger animal.

  • I know hat theory, but unlike what the show states, that mix would not make a wolf-dag look like the beast.

  • Probably a dogue de Bordeaux/wolf cross. It may not be a dogue de Bordeaux as we know it today, but there were several mastiff breeds native to France.

Just a few centuries before, the Spanish were using mastiff-type dogs to slaughter Native Americans. In fact, the death count from those war mastiffs has got be something like 100 or maybe even 1000s of times greater than the number of fatalities attributed to pure wolves (proven or not).

  • i think its a werewolf

  • thank you

  • 4:31 - 4:35 lol the camera guy is zooming in on his mole. :o how rude XD

I think the beast was probably a mix between a wolf and a dog. If the dog was trained to kill so that's what it did. :/ just a theory.

  • perhaps it was a....a...a...penguin!! lol

  • lol

  • Thats one hell of a penguin

  • Oh, get an imagination. You think that human beings are the dominant and most interesting species under the atmosphere, when in reality, we don't know probably half of what is living on the planet?

  • This shit is scary...But i think this "animal" was a crazy human...

  • This story sounds similar to the man eating leopard of Rudraprayag in India. Many famous hunters were employed but many failed. Finally the culprit was killed by Colonel Jim Corbett.

There was also the Champawat tigress which killed over 400 people.

  • Also like the maneaters of Tsavo, two rogue male lions hunted and ate over 140 men. No one could find a way to kill them so John Henry Patterson was enlisted--and even he found it incredibly difficult.

  • Yes i have that Tsavo book. Interesting but the guy who shot the Lions (Patterson) was not in the same league as a writer or hunter that was Jim Corbett.

Jim Corbetts books are simply awesome.

  • And also Gustave the crocodile of Burrundi, who's suspected of killing 300+ people. All attempts to catch or kill him have failed.

  • Theres nothing more destructive than the human race

  • what about godzilla? XD

  • Perhaps it was something supernatural. ;)
