I actually love all the sounds and eras this great man played in so when I bought the prs santana and boogie mark 1 re-issue, it had a ev12 200watt black shadow for mesa installed. The results is that i get very near to most of his entire tones spanning four decades. However, it's true what Willie says. You HAVE to get the equipment down if you want to nail that sound. I guess i'm looking for the sound of ME somewhere in his mix. Thanks for your lovely video.
Hello. Iove your Mark IIC+ clip a lot because is one of the few clips that show what this amp can do besides Metallica and Petruci, I own on of this could you be kind to tell me your settings to get close to sound thanks..
Your Boogie can produce that singing sustain at low volume if you set your Volume 1 and 2 on 8 and bring the master volume down to normal listening levels.
But before anything . set your master volume all the way down before you set the 1 and 2 volumes to 8. Carlos amp settings are volumes 1 and 2 is on 8, treble 7, bass 3, mid-range 9 and presence between 6 & 7. I have close up photos of Carlos amp settings front and back of the Boogie heads

@willieguitars you are talking about the Mark I amp .. I just have volume 1, master 1 and lead master. I know you're talking about the photos of an italian guy that had the chance to meet Carlos' technician and go backstage to hold his guitars and take pictures of his amps .. I've studied those photos already long time ago ^^
Well I havent used exactly this guitar for Metal, although you may want to listen to the "Experimental Project" I had with a good friend of mine few weeks ago.
Oh ^^ perdoname :) Yeah I love its tone! It's not the standard metal sound you hear.. I'd say pretty similar to vintage metal sounds!
I must admit the tubes and the speaker are the factors for the sound itself.. For metal people are mostly used to the EL34 instead of the 6L6 that I use actually
how much did you pay for this guitar? its just beautiful, i just got a mccarty and i love it, prs can make guitars. nd really nice playing and tone, all i would add is some more reverb but i just love reverb so i shouldnt say anything. haha peace
I also love this tune. My I respectfully correct you. It was NOT released on "Spirits Dancing in the Flesh," in 1990. It was the album "Freedom" in 1987.
It is my favourite cover, you well done!! I have reconsidered all Internet, and have not found Guitar Pro for this song, and tabs not correct, it is awful, because it's my favourite song, it would be good if you have written tabs for this song. I think many people would be grateful to you :)
My Spanish isn't good enough hah, but anyway I'm just wanting to say that Mark II and Mark IV seem to differ a lot from each other from sound characteristics .. and if you have the chance, better test them before :)
Oh yeah I really suggest you to get this amp if you can afford it!
But building one yourself could really turn up into delusion, because I heard the resistors in the circuit are hard to get and also you would have to know all the power tensions they have.
So even if you built one exactly as copy, it would sound different, don't you think so?
You know, my problem is that I am a nervous person.. When it's about making a video for others I want it to be perfect and no matter how hard I try.. It's never perfect.
Nice playing by the way. I am trying this peice myself at the moment (hopefully I'll upload it soon but it won't be as good as yours though. LOL) It sound easier that it is.
Thank you so much! :o) Hell yeah, I think everyone would be even more than happy with such gear... At this point I must say a dream came true for me!!!
yeah. i thought getting my ec-1000 was a dream come true. i play mostly rock and higher gain stuff but i love the mesa vibe and im looking for a bargain on a mark III or dc-5 right now. i got to this video by searching mark IIC+ btw.
Oh The LTD ec-1000 :) I just googled for it because I wasn't familiar with the model! I've seen some great looking ones!
A friend of mine has an LTD too.. No idea of the model though. Great sounding and so smooth playing, I was melting away.
About the Mark III; I've heard positive stuff about them, through a guitar repairman who has been the first official Mesa Boogie dealer in Germany. He also suggested me to buy one of them!!!
im mainly looking at either a guyatone md-3 or an mxr carbon copy. the carbon copy sounds amazing to my ears, but the md-3's 2 seconds of delay would be a lot of fun, too and they sound closer to analog than any digital ive heard. either way the ad-999 is 2 or 3 times more expensive and thats a bit more than im looking to spend, even though they are great.

Hola Dinogelabert,
perdon, pero yo no tiengo ninguna backing track para esta cancion. La cancion de Santana in segundo plano aqui es completamente original!
Muchas gracias y hasta la proxima!

Hmm well honestly I can't remember how much it was exactly ... but I could say something like the price of 2 prs custom guitars together.
Best is to search for this model on Ebay and see if you are lucky... There might be some good offers available.
About the reverb, I've already given a though to add some more in future ... I love reverb too of course :)
Cheers ^^

Luv the tone. I own a Santana II & III and was wondering what rig setup you have. Pedals, amp etc. Sounds great and keep posting video's.
Andrew from Ontario Canada.
8580andy 3 years ago
Hey thanks for the compliment!
Well my setup is pretty easy on this video. It's all done by the PRS Santana, a Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ and its speaker the "Altec 417-8H".
Let me know if you need further info, though the most stuff I use is mentioned in my channel information.
Best Regards from Munich Germany

Great playing buddy, lots of feel and lovely tone you got there too. Are you using the neck or bridge pickup to do this song?
xtasy2k7 3 years ago
ahh good point on there :) well I used the neck pickup most of the time ...
I switched to the bridge pickup just one time between 2:38 and 2:48
Thanks for your nice words man! Hope this was useful

Thanks very much man!
Considering your problem about the GuitarPro TABs for this song, I sadly have to disappoint you about that.
I have no Tabulature available at all and have also never learned to use GuitarPro in an efficient way.

In case you have problems to transcribe some parts of the song.. It would be no problem for me to help you on that!

there's a forum called sloclone where many people are working on an affordable clone of the preamp of the mark2c+.
I know it won't sound the same as an original one, but people who have built it claim it's pretty close.
Mark 2C+'s are more than 3000 dollars in my country so it's almost impossible to get one.
Anyway, keep posting this kind of videos I really enjoyed listening to this one
martyfriedman86 3 years ago
Oh so expensive down there in Argentina ?! I really wish you good luck and best of success in building the amp man!
I'm still working on my tone, but some more videos might come soon, I hope so :)

It's great. Only thing i would prefer is for you to hold out the notes a little more. Then it's perfect!

Yeah I agree, just because 70 % of the song are similar melodies, that still doesn't mean that it's easy...
I prefer to play 3 clean notes with perfect touch, rather than 100 messy ones..
MarcelMaier 3 years ago
Hey there. Nice sound and playing. Any idea where i can find the backing track for this one?

analog delay pedal or something digital? On my other video I've been using a Maxon AD-999 maybe something you consider too?
Boss pedals also have good ratings..
