  • Is this horn for sale, by chance? If not do you know any brass companies that can make top caps and finger buttons like the one on this horn? By the way, Great playing and great advice as well.

  • @servantofthebrass

    This horn is a goner!

Maybe Dick Akright or Rob Stewart can make the parts for you.

    Google em

    Best,

    Steve

  • Hi Steve. Thanks for the reply. I checked out the 60's Calicchio demo the other day. Nice horn. Of course also very nice demonstration. My former trumpet teacher and friend Joe Valenti had one which he let me play a few times. Great horn. Back in 72 Dominick made me a custom mouthpiece which I still have. He was quite a character. I also remember that old mean dog of his behind the counter. Have a good week. JT

Thanks Ken. It is a slow process but with diligence and focus on the task

it is very attainable. Good luck in all your musical endeavors.

  • Do you work on your face muscles to get such a high range?.

Is this the secret for high register playing?.

  • @kenlappin

There is no secret that intelligent practice can't unlock. Good diaphragmatic breathing is most important. Practice at soft volumes to form you embouchure. Don't always practice high stuff. Mix up your practice with different registers and volumes. Always strive for a musical approach and a good tone. Seek out a good teacher and instrument. Rest when tired!

  • @HornTrader I will. Playing the Trumpet is a great hobby. I agree that some people go overboard with their Frankenhorns. I love my 37 the way it is. No need to change it.

  • i love my 37

  • That's a beatiful horn, and equally beautiful playing! You inspire me to pick up

my horn after a long day at work.

    Thanks

  • Hi Steve. Another great demonstration on a great horn! If I had the money I would certainly buy it. I miss my old 37 that I had to sell years ago. Take Care. JT.
