The thing is that their are probably an infinite number of realms where spirits can come from, therefore the population can increase like it is, or it could decrease, which it isnt. Apart from reincarnation, there is one rational explanation for the kids memories of past lives. A couple has a child, that child will have the parents genes. The child grows up and has a child of his own, passing on his own genes to his child. And so on and so on.

So its very possible that a child will have memories of his grandfather/grandmother cos afterall, he/she is does have part of the grandparents genes in them.

The human body runs on electro chemical signals, therefor it has an energy within it. When the body dies the 'energy' leaves - hence the body's death.

Bugs, bacteria, fungi etc... do not consume/eat the electricity. Electricity is a form of energy that doesn't dissipate, it has to go somewhere. Whether it joins/finds another current, or rejoins the cosmos is anyones guess. You may find this interesting...
