  • new article 2 days ago on ESPN about life at ten

  • I had $500 on Life at Ten.....I at LEAST expected a Scratch. This was disgraceful by Churchill downs, and LAT's connections for allowing her to enter the gate!. She obviously was not well, and her health should have been taken more seriously by all involved.

  • @Kulaness I am surprised but glad they didn't also, especially after they took the Eight Belles tragedy and turned it into a joke.

  • Great race, but very sad about Life At Ten, :(. She should be scratched for good.

  • @figueroakelvin why for good?

  • @duvalditty73 I refer "scratched for good" is that she should be scratched and stop the concerns betwenn the bettors, that already knowed about the health of her that day.

  • life at ten should have been scratched..you dont put a horse in the starting gate when the jockey tells you himself that she doesn't look good to him. hes the one who rides her and u would think his opinion would be listened to...guess not

  • I know Unrivaled Belle mama, is Quenne Belle i work with her evry day,, im sorry for my english

  • Love how Unrivalled Belle made that move on the turn to get the jump on anyone else. She'd been somewhat overlooked but proved herself to be a fine champion, winning convincingly despite a gallant charge by Blind Luck. Great race.

  • Shame on Life At Ten's people. Shame on them. That's a good way to make a horse not want to race anymore.

  • sad to ee life at ten in this race. you know something was wrong with taht horse. she was way too calm and you could just see it in her eyes she wasnt ready to race. good thing though my second pick was unrivaled bell. hell yah

  • Rachael couldn't win in 5 horse fields!very overrated horse!!!!!

  • It's beautiful to see Breeders' Cup races run under the night sky. A first. Churchill did a good job by installing those lights last summer.

  • @Stamolka1986 I agree, the three BC races this year that were held under the lights were spectacular to see. They should run more under the lights next year!

  • @d9y8l7a6n5 They might, depending on which track the BC is taken to next year.

  • @Stamolka1986 Next year's BC is also going to be run at Churchill Downs, I'm hoping they consider more under the lights races!

  • @d9y8l7a6n5 i'm just hoping they can have a weekend of racing with no breakdowns and no horse deaths.

  • Rachel Alexandra could have won this race if she wasn't retired and poor Life At Ten I was rooting for her to win this race.

  • I think Life at Ten just didn't want to run in the dark of the night. If a horse has never done it before, then it can be a little disturbing and mystifying for a horse. I think it was the time of day that caused Life at Ten to loose interest and take a pass on the race.

  • @siroptimistic no, it was because they put her on some medication 4 hours before the race and they should have gave the medication to her the day before.

  • @mrmorzcode ...you don't give salix(lasxi) the day before

  • @mrmorzcode ...you don't give salix(lasix) the day before a race, which Pletcher claims she had a reaction to

  • @mrmorzcode It least it wasn't a fatal goof-up, remember all those polo ponies...that was acute Selenium toxicity or something

  • Unrivaled Belle sure was not stopping. well done girl.

  • First of all, what an impressive win by Unrivaled Belle. Happy to see her validate her courageous victory over Rachel Alexandra earlier this year in the La Troienne Stakes. Once again, a great effort by both Blind Luck and Havre De Grace. I hope both fillies come back next year and renew thier rivalry. It would be great for the sport. And what a shame what happened to Life at Ten. I just hope she's okay. But all and all, a great end to a great day of racing.

  • I feel very bad for LIFE AT TEN!! IMO shame on her connections letting her race knowing something was "not right"!! :-( I hope they haven't done serious harm to the poor girl!

  • @lovetheponies Amen.

  • @lovetheponies Her connections actually wanted her out when they saw her in the paddock. Todd Pletcher addressed his concerns to the track vet, as did the jockey upon seeing her but the track vet overrode their concerns and deemed her ok to run. Shame on the track vet actually for not listening. I would think though that the horse's connections would get the final say in such a crucial matter

  • I feel so bad for Life At Ten, to do so well all year long and train well, and then just lose it right before the race. They said it may be the lasix, I really hope so recovers well from this race because that is not the Life At Ten we know. Great race by the top 3, Unrivaled Belle proved she is one of the under-rated mares in the country, and I think Blind Luck solidified her Eclipse for 3yo filly here. A great, noble effort from her as usual, 'Grace' ran better than expected too.

  • Poor Life At Ten... :(

  • @BlackHorse0688 Yeah, she just did not want to be out there today. Sad to see.

  • No surprise to see Unrivaled Belle win this race. The horse showed a lot of determinaton and talent when she nipped Rachel Alexandra to win the La Troienne Stakes at Churchill Downs last April. A lovely and clear run all the way through by jockey Kent Desormeaux on Unrivaled Belle.

  • Zenyatta is where I think Blind Luck will be about early on. About 8-10 lengths back. But the difference between these two closers is Blind Luck leaves too much to do in the stretch. They turn for home, and she is still 6-7 lengths back. Zenyatta would only be about 2-3 lengths. Mikey needs to take note of this. UB owned a stakes win at CD which makes Blame ever more dangerous.

  • Blind Luck ALMOST got there. Very nice race after all those tough races this year... and I've always been a fan of Unrivaled Belle. What a pretty, and hard-running mare. Wonderful race.

Though I must say, I am VERY concerned as to what happened to Life at Ten. IMO she should have never entered the gate, and I think they're pretty lucky she didn't injure herself. Hope she's okay :/

On a side note, number 8 the winner... anyone else see double lucky 8 with Zenyatta winning the Classic?

  • @dustywhipp5 I agree about Life At Ten, hope she's alright.
