At that time, Serbs were shelling Sarajevo every night. Rather than head for the bomb shelters like his family and neighbors, this man went to the town square, climbed onto a pile of rubble that had once been the fountain, took out his cello, and played Mozart and Beethoven as the city was bombed.

He came every night and began playing Christmas carols from that same spot.

It's also a custom firework, you place the effect and it will start to snow right above the morter you place it above. Hence the reason so many morters were scattered around in the vid.

Savatage wrote this originally on Dead Winter Dead (1995).

But USA radio-stations refused to play it because Savatage is marked heavy metal.

So a year later is was re-released under TSO, which is basically the same band as Savatage (only different singers). Then the radio-stations suddenly DID want to play it, and it became a hit.

They probably called it Majestic Christmas Eve Sarajevo, because the song has a lot of deeper, more melancholy tones as well as fast tones that reflect struggle. Sarajevo is the Capital of Bosnia and Bosnia was probably the most recent example of war when they wrote this song.

Or, more simply, perhaps it just reflects the stylistic towns of the region.

Well Sarajevo is a city in southeast Europe, in Bosnia and Herzegovina so I was just wondering why the name "The Majestic Christmas Eve Sarajevo". Is it because it has to do something with Sarajevo, a tribute to Sarajevo or just the coincidence...
