From 0:35 the plane is on the ground but still the pilot is using lift to stabilize the thing as it slows without brakes. Tremendous piloting.

Way I see it crude politicians know about sleep and what to do. General staff has been provided and assets have been reviewed from the employees and who they asssign. Politcs as in Government like Govener and sheriff have purchased up to date technolgy following up with other countries in regards to abiltiy to process or acurate storage like core cpu or ssd hard drive. Watching this video, I can't help but wonder if it's worse to have 1 working wing gear, or to have just the nose gear... I mean, with 1 working wing gear, you can at least keep one side of the plane from hitting the ground, but I'd think that it'd be more likely to spin when the other wing does hit the ground. With just the nose gear, though, I'd think that it'd be a little easier to maintain control, since both wings would be on the ground.

Foam, most likely AFFF, the foam helps controll the fuel from burning, and magnesium too, which the landing gear and other various parts are made of.

@moosternl They didn't but they did get fired. It was them that ripped the gear off at nearby East Mids Airport while performing a slightly less than perfect Instrument approach in bad fog. The wheels were found there in the grass beside the runway. The fella did a great job of his final ever commercial landing though (having said that he is probably working at Ryanair now)

@crimsQn That would be foam mate. Anything that has fuel should be extinguished with foam. I fight forest fires and we use Class A foam. I'm not sure what type they use for aircraft. Foam covers the fire sealing away the oxygen. Fire needs heat, fuel and oxygen to burn. Take away any of the 3 away and fire goes out.

Landing on Grass would be a bad idea, I doubt it would take the weight, the engines/gear would dig in, and the plane would break up, probably creating more fire and injury/death to the crew.

Agree. Also the grass in England becouse its weather might be preety wet, so the plane would slide and stop far away that it does in the asphalt ( Becouse of the friction)

Proven wrong by other emergency landings performed by passenger planes...the key is to flare the plane as much as possible prior to touching down, its a rough hit but the plane should hold together provided you manage to keep the wings level. The debate is wether it best to bother having the gear out, which I would say no.

Landing on the grass might cause less friction. Friction will create sparks which might set the fuel on fire.

Though it would slow you down too fast. The plane is plenty heavy and going in fast enough that it would dig into the soil. If that happened the plane would just get torn apart in a half a second.

@thunderbolt2801 It was the pilots fault that they lost a landing gear leg in an approach made earlier at a nearby airport. They made a bit of a mess of things which ultimately lead to their dismissal from their jobs. Nice skills at the end though.
