I am proud Mindanaoan. I love Mindanao cultures. How great it is when we don't talk about religion just our rich culture. Uswag Mindanaoan. Mabuhi kamo Mindanaoans.
It's a beautiful land, but sadly as foreigners we can't stay for long, at least not comfortably. Hopefully that will change. I understand the oldest capital was Butuan before Spain came, and I appreciate the strongly non-hispanic culture which can be found there. I haven't seen many places as beautiful than Bukidnon, Buda, and pretty much everything between Malaybalay and Kagayan.
wat a paly!!!!!!!nice video .....I lke the beat..parang R&B rinnntalo pa cLa 50cent/usher/etc...pwede paki lagyan na caption ..hindi ko kc maintendihan eh...tnx sa video....

Hello. Thanks for posting this beautiful music and dance of the south. The word "Sinolayan" sounds the same with the Visayan word "Gisolayan." They have the same meaning, tested. How is Tausug language related to Visayan language? Do the two languages belong to the same family? Thanks for the reply.
I believe they are part of the same language group... there are so many visayan words that are kinda related to tausug (and vice versa)... well the tausugs were seafarers during the old days and even had colonies as far as tondo (manila)..
i wouldnt be surprised for the resemblance in words... however though the singer is not singing in tausug but in badjao and that is another story altogether...
For those who wants to know what kind of music this is. Its a badjao type of music called "tenes-tenes". The "tenes-tenes" is a ballad whose tune changes with the lyrics. It may be sung for any occasion and by anyone. The melody of a known tenes may be used for a different set of lyrics. Most tenes have a subject of courtship and love. Hainun (the singer) happens to be a popular "tenes-tenes" singer down south ( Sulu/Tawi tawi)...
Thanks for all your comments. I really appreciate 'em. by the way, please check my other vid "toro ro toro". its also by the one and only, Hainun. She also sang the original "Dayang Dayang". (Sorry Ilocano folks, but "Dayang Dayang" is NOT an Ilocano song. Its Badjau, FYI. )... enjoy...
It's like saying, "No, I am not Filipino I am Bisaya." I think the Tagalogs are the only people who should have that title,"Filipino." I am Bisaya born in Mindanao and proud Mindanaoan. I don't care whether I am a Christian. I'm Mindanaoan first.
Then that be irrelevent because Mindanao is part of the Philippines thus equaling to Filipino and besides, there is no such thing as a Mindanaoan. Your Bisaya naman just born in Mindanao. :-)
If any Americans will happen to read this posted message of yours, Nikki Bukeke, they can't absolutely understand because of your grammatical error not mentioning the spelling. Shame on you. Better say it in Tagalog which you are fluent than English because it's shameful.
Haa hahahah ahaaa! I like how your making something out of nothing really? So I guess you like calling people names just so you would feel superior? Hey now, chill, its only youtube. So ummm ease up on the insults. Haa ha hahaaa And ummm since when did you become an english Professor? But if you ask me, your Filipino either way man, Unless Mindanao was its own country. Ummm don't think so. Smile okay? :-D
You deserved to be called names because you are an idiot. There is no need for you to be professor to become better in English language. You have to learn it and speak it and write it correctly which you don't. Kakahiya ka. Yes, I am a Filipino because the Spaniards gave the islands name which is Philippines or Las Islas Filipinas. Thus, politically I'm a Filipino, but you can't control my culture and language as a person born in Mindanao. Psychotic.
Well I am just glad, you corrected yourself! So basically the case is finaly closed but it amazes me on how you can argue about something so useless as that. Haa haa wait.... You really have nothing to do other than complain about stuff or riddicule people for their opinions. GOD, you be a great Communist. ^O^
George Bush once said he would always be a Texan... and texas aint a country right?
so please.. a little respect here.. i too am from Mindanao and I call myself a Tausug first before anything else.. even if my passport is stamped "PILIPINAS"...
hehe ... i just got this interesting amateur vid from one of my travels down south... check out the bajau chick in red (she's really into it) and also the kids at the back plus the "babuh" standing on the distant right
