  • Wow, I'm going to be picking this game up sometime soon looks pretty awesome.

  • I don't guess anybody told you how to correctly hold a pick...

  • fuck, this is my next song..still trying to get outshined....

  • 帥氣阿

  • Great solo, man.

  • Why are the strings upside down on your game

  • @rangerman96 i've got the strings set to "inverted" in the options menu so that the layout is the same as traditional guitar tab. you can choose to have them set either way.

  • When this games available in the UK hoping to use this to get into playing guitar, I did try years ago but I can't engage unless I have something nerdy in front of me like this! :)

  • Wish I had that guitar instead of this toy version lol...

  • Holly shit, its so much harder than mine version of slither on rocksmith, :( ure god bro

  • Hey dude how do you get the chords on there cause I've been going through the leveler on this song and I still haven't seen the chords

  • @THEBUZZARDMAN1 are you playing the single note arrangement or the combo arrangement? this is the combo arrangement... if that's not it, then maybe you haven't levelled it up high enough yet? hmmm

  • Bought the game yesterday... This is one of my favorite song so far! Im playing the other guitar but i really need to practice chords to do that one!

  • @GematriaMK2 Boxes are chords try to play nirvana's in bloom or something like that... You'll learn how to make chords

  • Very nice! Solo was damn good man :D I just got this game for Christmas, can't wait to get this far in the game. Btw what are the boxes around the notes? just curious

    Merry Christmas

  • @GematriaMK2 if you mean the blueish box its the chord

  • Holy crap that was so cool

  • When does this song come up in the game?????

  • @Kaleb673 hmm..not too far in. 3rd or 4th set probably?

  • Great job buddy..how long have you been playing guitar now?

  • @tbreez712 thanks Tbreez, I started playing 15 years ago'ish. not that actually applied myself to learning for all those years...it certainly doesn't take 15 years to play this song :)

  • man this sh*t is awesome, now i want the game XD

  • goddamn you can play excellent job bro

  • @animeroxas thanks man!

  • How could this video get a dislike?

    Beast mode.

  • guita hero ja era..

  • Did you have to drop it to drop D for this song?

  • @hownowicecow282 yup, this one's drop D

  • DUDE AWesome!! shit i cant wait till i get that go with Rocksmith/ guitar. How long did it take u to do that, and how much guitar did u know before the game? Thanks!

  • @venomchris that good*

  • @venomchris Thanks Chris! Hmm. Well it didn't take long to learn the rhythm track of the song- it's actually pretty easy. The lead track; i learned the basic outline of the lead section fairly quickly and then just did some familiar pentatonic licks in place of the actual notes. You could play something very similar, or even the real lead, with i'd say 2 to 3 years of practice. Very possibly a lot less if you're very dedicated. I've been playing casually for about 15 years.thanks!

  • @JinjaBeard cool man, 15 years make me feel a lot better aha, but i do love this track and im hyped to learn it. keep rockin. +like/fav

  • U have emgs on guitar?

Will using a active guitar drain the battery

    Just curious

  • @Jasaxos naw, the battery for my EMG's lasts a LOOOONG time. i haven't changed it in a couple years :P just don't leave the cable plugged into the guitar or it will draw the battery constantly. always unplug when you're done playing.

  • This song is one of the reasons I want Rocksmith. However, I know I will be far from the 100K level for quite some time. lol

  • Awesome.

  • Dude that was fucking sick bro.

  • I love this game, only complaint is that the songs are weak.

  • dude.... HIGH FIVE!

  • Holy Shit

  • Hey JinjaBeard,

First of all great job with the guitar playing man, and thanks for posting the video. I have a couple of questions for you:

    1. Did you know the song before you started playing it on Rocksmith, or did you learn it 100% on the game.

    2. If you learned it using the game, can you play it without the game? I mean were you able to memorize it?

    Thanks man,

    Jay

  • @jaycito2000 hey Jay, thx for the comment!

    1. no, i didn't know the song before playing the game. I learned all the rhtyhm guitar parts from the game, which was pretty straightforward. But, I have yet to learn the solo note for note..in this video i'm playing licks and runs based on the real solo, but not note for note. i'll put some time into that soon..hopefully i can learn it 100%. however, I won't be learning the solo in the game as the "riff repeater" is currently too limiting.

  • @jaycito2000 ..continued..hopefully they patch riff repeater and let us see 100% notes and slow the pace down to learn complicated passages. as it is right now, guitar pro or just regular tab is way more efficient for learning solos.

    2. yes, i can play it from memory/without the game- it's a very easy rhythm track once you memorize the riffs, and the solo is basically pentatonic stuff, so pretty easy to make up something that sounds good!

  • @JinjaBeard Cool man, thanks for the quick response. Keep up the awesome work!!

  • Fuck YEA DUDE!

  • FINALLY!! SOMEONE WHO PLAYS THIS GOOD!!!

  • You just gave me a goal worth achieving >>>>>

  • @rmbru2k thanks man. give it a go- it's not that hard of a rhythm to play! good intro to minor pentatonic as well.

  • One of the things I love about Rocksmith (especially vs RB/GH) it allows you to embellish on the song without docking you points. Glad you did it in this video, awesome job man. :)

  • @Indreju yeah, i love that too! slither is a perfect song to do some noodling over. glad you enjoyed the video, Indreju~

  • After looking at your covers, I've decided to not buy Rocksmith since it's just a $70 version of learning songs by tabs >.>, Btw nice guitar and playing, What kind of EMG is that?

  • @Dkvill23 EMG 85 in the neck and 81 in the bridge. pretty standard emg setup there. as for buying or not buying rocksmith- yeah, it's just learning songs by tab. For straight-up learning songs, Guitar pro would be a better investment. For learning songs and providing entertainment and a convenient way to rock out in your living room- Rocksmith is a pretty good investment. I also like the motivation of playing a song as close to 100% perfect as I can. I can be pretty lazy without that. lol :)

  • how do you read this? i'm so confused hahaha

  • @acuity67 you can see the horizontal graphical representation of the guitar neck across the bottom of the screen. fret one is to the left, fret 20+ is off to the right. You'll see ghostly blue numbers and lines floating down towards you indicating frets 3 / 5 / 7 / 9 / 12 / 15 / 17 / 19 that correspond to the dots or inlays on your guitar. The numbers help you determine at what fret the notes are supposed to be played. for instance: if you see a red note coming down the "3" track (continued..)

  • if you see a red note coming down the #3 "tracK', that means play the "red" string (which is hte 6th string, or the bass string) at the 3rd fret. if you see a yellow note on the #5 "track", you play the 5th string (yellow string) at the fifth fret. If you see both a red note on the 3rd track and a yellow note on the 5th track coming at you in a shaded box, it means play both notes together as a chord, which would be a G power chord. does that help? it takes time to get used to the colours.

  • okay, i think its time to move on to.. FREE BIRD!!

  • @cikenbrand i've been working on 'are you gonna go my way', which in some ways has a trickier solo than free bird. i'm hoping i can get 'go my way' nailed this week for a video, time permitting. then yeah, probably on to free bird, which i've got at 96k after a couple runs through. i need to 100% unlock the last little bit of the solo..then it's a matter of tidying it up a bit and trying to play through it all without cramping up. :P

  • Hate when it doesn't register a chord sometimes

  • @plateofshrimp i find it's pretty particular when it comes to chords; you really need to play exactly the strings it specifies in the chord box, no more and no less. for example, if you play the D in slither with all the strings instead of the specified bottom three (D5), it won't register. thats been my experience anyways. its pretty damn good at knowing what you're playing (imo)!

  • Not too bad! :) from one guitarist to another! I'm totally getting this game.

  • @generalgenocide667 thanks general :) you would pwn me at shredding! definitely get the game.

  • @generalgenocide667 - Damn good show dude, excellent fillers too, slash is boss no doubt, you got some damn good licks on ya also - PB!

  • wait...I've only been playing guitar for about a month and I don't have this game yet but I'm pretty sure that those strings are in left hand configuration, yet it appears you are playing right handed. Please enlighten me someone?

  • @Mentallycool good eye. the game allows you to view strings two different ways. it calls the default layout "standard", and puts the bass/6th string/Red string at the top. Most people who are used to playing tablatures prefer the "inverted" setting which puts the red string/bass/6th string at the bottom. that's how i have it set.

  • @Mentallycool He's playing right-handed... But has selected the option to flip the Low E to the bottom (like in TAB). Essentially inverting the guitar. Still right-handed, but for those familiar with TAB it may be easier. You can select this from the Options Menu when you start the game.

I couldn't play this way... But some people can.

  • @Mentallycool followup: the idea with tablature and 'inverted' view is that when you look down at your guitar (or if you tilt it up towards you) you see the bass string at the bottom. :)

  • @Mentallycool - There's also an option in the game to play it this way or the standard "tabs" way. It's a preference.

  • reversed fret board.. I would be so lost..

  • ...and I hope the sequel isn't so restrictive on the solo you "have" to play.

  • I'm buying this now cause of your video. :)

  • @henrychinaski26 have fun rockin' out!

  • I find this easy to masturbate to.

  • awesome

  • im contemplating on getting this game, i mean im a really fast learner with things, but this looks extremely hard, do you recommend i should get it?

  • @SAYHITOPETER definitely get it if you're interested in playing guitar and having a system (xbox/ps3, pc soon) that supports it. well worth the $80. this song is fairly advanced as far as the solo goes. the verse/chorus you could teach yourself with a bit of dedication. it's not as hard as it looks. that said, the game starts you off on way easier stuff than this! there are a lot of total beginners playing and loving this game. go for it!

  • thanks for the video !! You Rock !

  • It sounded awesome nonetheless.

It's just that, seeing the points going up rather slowly during the solo part, I thought that the game wasn't even expecting you to play it, that you just did it anyway.

The game looks pretty good. What's your setup/rig? Doesn't look you're experiencing any lag, which seems to be a problem with a few people.

  • @Qirexian yeah, the points would go up more if i had more notes unlocked. that's part of the "dynamic difficulty" of rocksmith..you have to successfully play the specified notes in order to unlock more notes, which will give you more points. does that make sense? Lag is pretty easy to fix:

    video: PS3 > HDMI > TV

audio: PS3 > Composite (RCA cables) > Onkyo receiver set on "direct" mode, which disables signal processing. using dolby prologic or something would introduce processing and lag.

  • @JinjaBeard I'm wondering how one could actually do this on an xbox (which I own), since once you plug the HDMI cable you can't plug composite video and RCA audio.

Seems the only way would be a clever, yet not so gentle mod on the composite cable...

  • @Qirexian hmm... unfortunately I don't have any experience with the xbox, but i'd head on over to the ubisoft rocksmith forums...lots of xbox users there with no lag. i'm sure others have overcome this!

  • please upload more of these. that was amazing. how long have you been playing for?

  • @TEHPenance 'casually' for 15 years. i think i took lessons for the first 2 years or so. thanks for the comment!

  • Damn Good Guitar Player...How long have you been playing the guitar for?

  • @decimadimencion thanks man! i've been, lets say "lazily" playing for 15 years. only a fraction of that time was actually spent learning new things. the rhythm i probably could have played at year 2 and a similar solo around year 3 or 4. it's just minor pentatonic, which is easy and fun to learn. thanks again for the comment~~

  • The fact that this is now possible via a game is freakin incredible.

  • @GIJahman totally. i've been waiting for this game/technology since i first played guitar hero. best way to rock out in your living room, ever.

  • that was awesome

  • A job extremelly well done mate!

Since I'm not familiar with the interface, did the game actually "request" ALL the notes you were playing - including the solo?

  • @Qirexian well it's like guitar hero in that it sends notes at you and you're responsible for hitting the correct string/fret. the verse+chorus i was playing exactly as requested by the game, but i didn't play the solo the game specifies..just something loosely based on it. what i need to do is play the solo "as specified" in order to "level it up" and unlock all the notes. i just haven't bothered to actually learn it yet. :P

  • Holy crap you nailed that! I wish I could solo like that. Very smooth. Good job!

  • @wheeliejuice thanks wheels! i have to work on getting it actually "correct"...but it's a fun song to noodle over!

  • how do you record?

  • @MrMeist pretty "low tech" really.. i pointed my iphone at the screen (which is a bit tricky..gotta be close enough so that it doesn't over-expose the notes..too far and its just all washed out, too close and i can't see enough screen. and then i pointed my ipad2 at myself for the guitar cam. then i used my GF's macbook/ iMovie to mash the video together and sync it up. AUdio is handled by the iphone...i just crank up the stereo.

  • guitar hero vs rocksmith....no contest.

sweet job, am looking forward to getting the game when it hits PC.

  • @fatherrock1 yeah, definitely no contest! RS is way more satisfying

  • @fatherrock1 A lie vs reality, Rock for real XD

  • nice emg pick up!!!!

  • @olimpic2008gordon haha, thx Gordon :)
