Defense does not involve dropping bombs on hospitals in Fallujah, civilian air shelters, and terrorising a country through 'shock and awe'. They used expensive F16s to kill civilians, and a cheap rope to kill Saddam. Ironic eh?

Not so much, actually. The USSR and China were the major players in WWII--the Chinese from 1937. Also the jet engine, radar, proximity fuse, codebreaking, the Manhatten Project are all things that the US imported or couldn't have developed alone. That's more than criticism...
