What we should remember is that many of those fighting in these wars were not professional military, but members of local reserve and National Guard units.

its sad that such a young people die there, but when you are at war thats what happens there are casualties, i read this somewhere in a Polish newsletter a high ranked polish soldier once sad to his soldiers years ago "I DON'T WANT YOU TO DIE FOR YOUR HOMELAND, BUT I SURE WANT THOSE FUCKERS TO DIE FOR THEIR" got to say i agree with that in a 100% so stay safe kill as many of those fuckers as you can and come back home guys.

You don't hear him complaining. He is so grateful to be alive. I'm sure when he voluntarily joined the Military, I don't think he knew what was in store for him. But These two men are men of character. Something a lot of people are lacking of. Forget about politics for one moment, and give these men their due.

Although maybe not intentional, try not to tarnish McGinnis with your world peace theory. Utopias are hardly realized and eventually fail. He made the decision. Honor him for it.

I nearly cried when I saw this and am surprised that he didnt. This is why we we have Veterans day, to remember the men who gave their lives for us.
MY brother is going to join the military and is always saying how he wants to go to the Middle East and see action... he is 18 so you would think he would be a little less arrogant... after seeing this I am starting to worry a lot about him. He is an awesome dude and it would tear me apart if he was killed... RIP McGinnis... and god bless you...

I've noticed that Medals of Honor are somewhat longer in coming than they've been in past. SFC Smith's medal took two years to approve; Lt. Murphy's, thirty months; Cpl Dunham's, thirty-two months. Petty officer Monsoor's wait (eighteen months) and Spc McGinni's (also eighteen months) have been the shortest of all, but they're still longer than those of many World War II and Vietnam recipients.
Has the vetting process become more complicated recently?
