For years I thought that this song was by the temptation. How wrong I was. I am so happy to see you guys back together again, looking Fabulous. God Bless the Legenary group, "The Artistic".
I just did a DJ gig last Saturday night (July 18, 2009) and when I played "I'm Gonna Miss You", the dance-floor filled immediately. The song is timeless! And to hear it remixed, with exciting, new instrumental and vocal tracks on top of the original track...well, it simply sent chills down my spine. Such a clever blend of old & new. Wish I'd had this one last Saturday night. I adore the original, but this one has real balls!!! Thanks IanLevine, for posting this. It really made my day!!!!
I adore this song and only wish this pure heart stirring music was around now.I hate the untalented, cold heartless and souless and insulting stuff I hear. God bless this great music and the artists who sang it.Thank you for this post.
This song dates back to the year I graduated from H.S. and my older sister would let us dance at her house, This was one of her favorite tunes. This isn't quite the originaly which was recorded in 1966 but this is awesome. At least the past entertainers will leave us far more than the so-call 'performers' of today. They are pitiful and really believe they're doing something. Today's music will not be remembered and cherished like the past, Peace.
gained a bit of air play when released i was in borstal at the time when it came on the radio i can still see myself dancing down the corridoor with my mop with all my mates joining in i did miss my soul music.
I haven't heard this beautiful piece of ear candy since I was in high school back in the 60s. Thanks for posting it, Ian, as well as for the other great music you have made available to those of us who really appreciate what you do!
You're the same age as I. I was a senior in high school when this 'dropped' so to speak. My older sister had all the jams and we'd go over to her house to jam off of this and others. This isn't the original, however, and his voice is not as refined as it had been but it's still very good. Check out "Hey Girl I need You" by them. I was the only one that even commented on it. Have a nice day oldiesfan52
Dont forget "The Chase Is On". I saw these guys many times live at the Apollo. One show featured The Unificis, The Artistics, Mad Lads, Jive Five and James Brown...what a show.
Yikes!! This one makes me feel long in the tooth. One of the bravest things I ever did was to wear a gaudy colored velour with two other band members and sing this song in my back then quite unrefined falsetto. But what else could we do, we loved the song. Thanks for posting this.
A song like this is the reason I have satellite radio: you NEVER hear this on regular radio today. What a great song. Were the Artistics a one-hit wonder?
No. "Hope We Have" was also massive. Plus "The Chase Is On", "Glad I Met You", "This Heart Of Mine", and all of Marvin Smith's solo stuff, especially "Have More Time".
This was my absolute favorite "Beach Song"...I used to drive one of the local djs at Myrtle Beach crazy asking him to play it for me! A classic! Tina Eaton Blackwell, Columbia, S.C.
Sounds of yesterday , with meaning and clean , I certainly miss this sound of yesterday when artist had a theme and not all this rap and vulgarity ! Old School will sentimenal nut !
Growing up in the shadow of Phildelphia (listening to legendary DJs like Hy Lit and Jerry Blavat), I heard this song a lot, and have never tired of it. Another big Philly favorite was "Hey Girl I Need You." (Hope I got the title right)
Shame they didn't do more like this... It is considered a Carolina Beach Music classic... They were smooth... If you can't move to this... Nothing will make you move.
this was a great song they don't make'em like this anymore, i grad. in 1969, this was out when i was in h.s., i still play my 45 a good cha-cha or hop song {:'}. does any body have a stand in for love- o'jays, boy were made to love- karen smalls, the ricest girl- litte helen, or i'll love you forever- the halliday's (edwin starr) ??
