  • Steel magnificence !

  • Great video!! Looks like Del Mar has changed a lot since I was there in 1980. Who did the restoration on the LVT-4?

  • You guys work on it at Schools BN or on the ramp?

  • White hatch interiors are an absolute taboo in any army. Hatches are the same color as the outside of the tank. A white hatch merely flashes a "here i am" signal, destroys your camouflage efforts and provides a great aiming point. Many people who restore AFVs and have no real experience with operating them do not realize the importance of this dangerous practise.

  • doesn't the USMC have regs against white hatch covers? They make excellent targets,

  • @pattoncommander its over 60 years old. its not going anywere that they need to worry about that

  • @pattoncommander That's the interior of the hatch.

  • This is absolutely awesome . Wats this filmed at Del Mar?

  • Aaaaaaaaw no, I was sooooooooooo hoping to see it swim!

  • In our base in Italy ,near Venezia,we had since 1957 #45 LVT MK4 they was in service until 1976 when all these old unit with a fantastic continental radial nine cylinder powerplant were replaced by # 15 new LVT P7,i was under the army in 90'-91' some years later they was upgraded to AAVP7 and some new unit were bought ,currently in Italy we have 2 battalion that used these amtrac battalion Lagunari Venezia and San Marco battalion in Taranto.

  • Nice to see a veteran vehicle running again, but they made a big mistake during restoration: They painted it in a WW-II style scheme, while the vehicle is a LVT(A)-5 Modified (post-war upgrade by FMC) that saw service in Korea.
