Guys shut up down there! The reason 30 fps seems laggy after having a constant 60 is because your brain is made to detect drops in speed. That is why a constant 30 is fine. Also there is a difference between how you brain perceives frame rate in video and games. With a video 24fps seems fine (with some motion blur) like on blu-ray however because games are interactive a framerate increase will always be welcome up to about 90fps. You won't see the difference but you will FEEL it in the gameplay.

If your FPS drops below 24fps, your anus will explode. XBox 360 & PS3 are both disappointments. Neither are pushing the graphics that was promised from the manufacturer. They are both damn near even right now. It comes down to brand preference & game titles you care most about. I own a PS3, my roomie owns a XBox 360. They both look great on HDMI on a 1080p lcd. Do I wish they were both a lot sharper? Yes, but that will take 8-10 years before we see a dramatic change in graphic performance.

@clece That's odd then because I have a Phenom II x 4 (965), a HD (5770), and (4)gigs of DDR3 ram (1600MHz). With Fraps I'm getting an average! of 55 fps and 1280x1024. And that's about right for my specs - all drivers updated. I haven't tried increasing the res as my monitor is crap. But I'm shocked that you're getting those f-rates with that gear...good though it is.

the only racing game I play on my PS3 is GT5. For me, 30 fps is unacceptable in a racing game.

Why would developers bother to tell the gamer that "X" game runs at 60 frames as opposed to 30? 30 fps looks laggy to my eyes but 60 dont, how do u explain that? There is a big difference between 30 and 60 fps lol, people like you makes me angry. Try and put a really graphicly challenging game on your computer maxed out, put on Fraps, then compare it to lowest settings..if you cant see the difference then there is something wrong with you.

I bet no. Also I will do what you say with fraps and a game just to prove you cant tell the frame rate difference. Frame rate these days is more of a competition, who can have the highest frame rate, most people could not care less about it

The reason you cant se the difference in the youtube videos is because it only shows like 15 fps.

Besides the blur in the crap quality video helps support your ignorant statement.

@Chemicalpneumonia then answer this how comes this games runs at 30fps ( I do own this game) and call of duty runs at 60fps now tell me why you can't tell the difference in the frames? if a game or movie was made for 30+fps then it drops you will tell the difference as the game wont have enough frames to render everything but if you have a game whats made for 30fps and goes above that like F12010 on pc then you wont see a single bit of difference. My statement if fact not ignorant. The End

@OakridgeProductions9 Ofcourse you are correct if a game was MADE for 30 fps. But COD wasn't made for 30 fps, hence I will tell the difference in a framedrop.

I haven't played this game, but i doubt that it was limited for 30 fps.

If that is the case, ofcource i wont tell an increase in framerate because there are just no frames to be made extra.

@Chemicalpneumonia The human brain can only see up to 60 fps, with everything below 30 SLIGHTLY off pace. So a constant 30 fps, like most console games have, are perfect for the eyes.

@Janemba126 It's not really about seeing the framerate, as it is the performance of the game. Everything looks naturally smoother with 60 FPS because it's double the amount of shots.

@OakridgeProductions9 in that case, 30 FPS is more than enough, as long as it does not drop below that. i dont have a problem with the framerates in youtube videos, do you? would you have a problem racing if the fps was exactly as in these videos? not me. yeah, 30fps looks bad when a PC game drops from 60. but a constant 30 is not bad at all.
