Yes I have to give her the impression that I had a treat but I was really holding nothing. Every so often I trick her into thinking I am going to give her a treat so she can do some tricks for me or else she just looks at me like " I am not doing anything unless you give me something". Once you train a dog to do tricks just giving the impression as though you will give them a treat will make them do the same trick again.

The concept is trying to hold something like a treat just high enough so they can smell it and it forces them to stand on their hind legs. Then you do a circle motion with your hand and it will make them turn around for you. I learned this at my local Petsmart were Missy got her training.

not all maltese look identical. Missy plays with other maltese and they have different looks. Either their eyes are more narrow or they have this look like their about to kill you. Missy has similar looks to a teddy...but then again she is my baby :-)
