They do move toys back to their original positions after people have had a go, but if you ask, they will move it "chotto" closer. The asking works better if they see you want to win it for a girlfriend standing next to you :)

The cool thing about Japan is that the staff will move the toys you want closer. Yes, it was only woodstock :)
