Why can't a person like a song for its lyrics? If you only listen to music because of how "heavy" it sounds, I might argue that you have a very simplistic, shallow understanding of music. I'm not a huge Iron Maiden fan, but I love this song because of the lyrical content. That's not to say I don't also love the beating, galloping effect added to it by the pounding percussion, but strip it of all the music, and it's still amazing. It's poetry, really.

look... a heavy metal band is a heavy metal, every metalhead (like me) and big fan of maiden (like me too) will expect some power over is this song so i understand most of the comments. Run to the hills, i think, is not to be covered like this even though i respect the talent of this musicians and his effort to try another version which is good. but certainly it is NOT how run to the hills should be covered.

The lyrics are really heavy, I mean, it is about genocide. I feel the somber tone of this cover suits the lyrics better than that of our beloved original metal version. (Don't get me wrong, the original far surpasses.) Just appreciate every aspect of the song, not just the parts you can bang your empty skulls to. I applaud an "original" cover for once, and not those 30/40somethings trying to relive their glory days in some shitty bar with their shitty cover band.

My neighbor in college was from the Mohawk tribe he always said that Run to the Hills in many ways expressed his own frustrations and feelings about his own tribes history. Not all of they covers work as good as his, but this cover is amazing. I think Steve Harris would approve if he heard how his lyrics actually fits such a melancolic cover. What they have done is switched the rage from the original with sadness. Instead of thinking about bloody battles and arrows flying you think about the genoside the native Americans endured.
