I have been a back up singer for 20 + years behind Whitney , Celine & Mariah and not to tell tales out fo school but 75% lipsync for Mariah and about 50% for Celine Its a fact. The only times for Whitney were during big production numbers dering the early 90's. Whitney was almost always live. She would not have it any other way. Thats the truth folks ! I was with Whitney for 5 years.

one of my sources said she just quit smoking cigs around the pre grammy show in feb, so we're going to hear a drastic improvements plus according to paula abdul shes working with a top notch voice teacher. she became a heavy chain smoker about 2 years ago to cope with her primary addiction which is cocaine, and smoking cigs messed her voice more but it was something she had to do to become sober.
That's part of why I LOVE Whitney so much! She tries to stay true to the integrity of a vocalist! She gives it her all whether the voice is all there or not! She would rather sing with a hoarse voice than lipsync and to be honest, I would rather hear that with passion than a perfect prerecording!

She sustained nodules during her Bodyguard Tour of 1992-1994 and this is the reason for the decline in her voice as well as the drugs. She only recently had the nodules removed, but if you listen to her from Waiting To Exhale onwards you can hear that hervoice has moved from soprano to alto due to nodules. Drugs did NOT help.
Its a lot of things. Singers get lazy, they get tired, and well they sleep. She's the voice. I think wht happened in Khaz, was she probablly slept on her plan ride, and remember womens voices drops 2 octaves when they first get up. Thts fact. It could take up to 4hrs to even get in original key. Its obvious whitney in Kaz had the voice, she easly hit her falsetto keys oo's and I's But changing keys as many as her songs do require its harder, sound a tad bit hoarsed. Mariah, Leona & Celine are all extremely talented, even gifted singers, but Whitney was blessed with the bigest vocal gifts of all. A gift is a gift, it's yours to keep. I think Whitney can have a Mariah-type comeback. Glitter and Charmbracelet had no successful singles, and struggled to enter the Top 100 even. People wrote Mariah off and noticed a decline in her vocals. You were mocked if you were an MC fan - then BANG - EMANCIPATION - everybody loves her, nobody has a bad word and it's like she never left. Whitney can do the same! Her voice only keeps improving.

She may of not sounded her best in Kazakhstan but there were some damn good parts in Kazakhstan. I think that performance was due to the cold and her lack of wanting to perform there. She seemed nice but I don't think she warmed up properly.

She sustained nodules during her Bodyguard Tour of 1992-1994 and this is the reason for the decline in her voice as well as the drugs. She only recently had the nodules removed, but if you listen to her from Waiting To Exhale onwards you can hear that hervoice has moved from soprano to alto due to nodules. Drugs did NOT help.

Its a lot of things. Singers get lazy, they get tired, and well they sleep. She's the voice. I think wht happened in Khaz, was she probablly slept on her plan ride, and remember womens voices drops 2 octaves when they first get up. Thts fact. It could take up to 4hrs to even get in original key. Its obvious whitney in Kaz had the voice, she easly hit her falsetto keys oo's and I's But changing keys as many as her songs do require its harder, sound a tad bit hoarsed. Trust me she's still got it!!

Whitney's voice is still amazing. She knows how to interpret her songs and sings with feelings. I can't wait for the new CD. She gives me chills and I am so happy for her. We need to be positive about others not negative all the time. No two singers are alike. Each is talented in his/her own way. There are enough fans out there for every singer. Let's be festive as Mariah would say.

I love Whitney so much; I also love Mariah. But, Mariah's fans need to realize that she needs to rest. Her recent Hong Kong performances on YouTube aren't the best. She is still promoting her CD, but she also deserves a personal life-Nick is not the problem. Other artists' CD's aren't selling as well too. Mariah is in love and deserves to be happy. If you are a true fan of hers, you would understand this. Mariah can't perform 24/7--no one can. This video is of Whitney not Mariah so respect that.

Nobody is saying Whitney 2008 sounds like Whitney 1985. You'd have to be both deaf and dumb to say that. But the woman still sounds amazing and does sound close to Whitney 1998.
Mariah on the other hand does not sound good 90% of the 5 times a year she sings live. She can barely hold a note anymore. I mean, the woman was outsung by fuckin Miley Cyrus at Fashion Rocks this year.

WHO else in popular music can do this TODAY? no one. in fact, she's even better than she ever was because she has so much more experience to sing from. the lyrics have so much more meaning to her now and you can tell. that's what music is, what singing is. and the best singers make people feel. there is as much true feeling in this performance as any of her previous performances, if not more.

i love Mariah but she is in a lull right now. Ever since she got married, she like quit caring about promoting her album. Which is sad because the album is one of her best.
