  • good lord that tempo.....lol

  • I would like to see these guys with Junior Brown playing this song. All 3 together on the same stage. I bet that would make for a hell of a show!! 3 excellent guitarists together, something you don't see much of these days.

  • guitarists don't give a strong handshake as they don't want to damage their hands!!!

  • yeehaw!

  • Wow. I don't have any energy left. I'm gonna go to bed now.

  • Badass

  • Great drummer in the house band!

  • いつもトミーはエンターテイナーだなー、尊敬しまくる。

  • I shook hands with Tommy a few years ago. His hand is extremely strong yet his grip is very soft. I got the feeling that he could've broken my hand, but could also crack a safe. The "muscle memory" of his hands is literally palpable.

  • @adamkotta888 memory can never be palpable....muscle or no

  • Brings back a lot of memories. I used to see them in a band called Goldrush with Tommy on drums ! Have followed their careers since the late 70's. They are brilliant musicians. I feel so privileged to have seen them countless times in small pubs with a handful of people. Their absolute love of the music is what shines through. Always has , always will.

  • these guys are just amazing. Thanks for posting!

  • Trivia..those telecasters have consecutive serial numbers...

  • What iz all the Speed nonsense?????????

    SLOW DOWN!

  • @BlueSuedeTom they dont get any better that tommy, sorry to disagree suppose you dont Brent mason either!!!!! they can always slow down!!

  • @legendoftimes perhaps i'll have to stick with Santana! . . .are they from OZ?

  • @BlueSuedeTom Its the style of music, dude.

  • FUCK ME THATS FAST!! O.O

  • Phil's daughter goes to my school lol

  • @InnocentFilth that means you go too toormina high! :P

  • Relic guitars before they were cool.

    Monster players.

  • awesome, madre mia

  • slow down dang lol. the only probably i have with tommy is that he wants to play 90 mph the whole time.

  • If he slow down, his heart stops.

  • No problem with that unless it's a ballad, Fenderbuzzer.

  • Close your eyes and you could swear that's Joe Maphis playing...

  • is phil tommy's son or brother

  • His brother. They were in an AWESOME band called Goldrush in the 80's. Tommy played drums.

  • brother

  • brother

  • Phil is the Oldest by 3 years

  • Big brother

  • @xcaper66 Phil is the older brother

  • Tommy, Phil, and Jesse together, that would be the greatest tour in the history of the USA.

  • I am all in favor of TE and PE touring together through the USA... I think they might be thinking about it next year... lets keep bugging em about it and just maybe we might have an Emmanuel Family Reunion tour! Phil's daughter Jesse also is a helluva singer/guitar player... so the whole fam-damily can entertain us all at once... AGAIN. :-)

  • 25 years ago I saw Albert Lee at Pier 1 supported by Tommy- thought never heard of him but I'm definitely gonna watch for this guy !!!!

  • this lols me.

  • Totally ridiculously awesome.

  • someone mentioned Tommy can only play acousstic?

  • theres no 'can' about it, if you can play acoustic, you can play electric. vice versa, not to the same degree, as acoustic strings are usually much harder to play

  • i don't think ppl undersood ur coment

  • this solo is great for building speed and strength in both ur hands :D

  • Great playing. Shame we didn't really see them together or Tommy by hiumself on American TV 20 years ago. I know Tommy and Chet were buddies, I'd love to have seen Tommy and Chet and Jerry Reed all jamming together.

  • how people can be so dumb, john 5 probably used to listen to those guys,so when you are insulting those guys you are insulting him as well.

  • love their playing but hate those horns

  • fuck john 5 ...these guys blow him away...and john 5 aint even fit enough to restring hank garlands guitar

  • gagagagaga

  • Hey champ,

Your response just made up for a couple zillion stupid assed postings by uninformed juveniles that blanket these video sites!

You get a gold star tiger.

    NG.

  • Playing 3-pickup Fender Nashville Tele's.

  • Stupid good, just stupid good!!!!

  • John 5's version is awesome! He's such a great guitarist...

but Tommy (and PHIL... wow, how have I not heard of him) are AMAZING!!!

  • check out John 5's version.

  • kick ass

  • these guys are to good for mere words but tommy and phil you rock

  • try this at home :-)

  • "One foot, two foot, slew-foot drag...swing your honey to the sugarfoot rag"...

  • great sound

  • someone made a comment ..they are not human.. well, i guess they are, but...gifted

  • they're pretty fuckin good

  • i've no idea why Phil doesn't have the same status as Tommy... maybe he doesn't tour as much... but i saw him for $10 down at the local pub a year or two ago, and he was AMAZING

  • cuz he is addicted i've heard.

  • Terrible drummer?

    Where is he out?

I played drums for 25 years and can't hear it...

The time is not stretched and the rythm section sounds tight. No problems for the two to have fun over it.

In my view he does the job. But then again I could be wrong NOT!

  • No, Just no. I play guitar and am used to listening to the drums beat to make sure Im in the right spot. I can't hear where he's out anywhere.

  • how many times have i watched this video?

  • What guitar is Tommy using?

  • bet its an tele..

  • Hard to top these Aussie icons.......!

  • ii like how john 5 plays a cover of this song, and he plays a telecaster. and they're playing telecasters.

i've seen tommy emmanual play live, it was amazing.

  • You use a tele for twang, that's the way it is

  • wow amazing!1

  • This video sums up why I like youtube. This is 100% ACE. They've got some great dress style too. Not sure I'll hit the town wearing one of those hats though (in England).

  • The mixing engineer at TV channel TCN 9 needs his ass kicked until his nose bleeds.

The compression on that track and the band mix (not to mention the 5-min Geoff Harvey arrangement) is a travesty.

How to make talent sound like shite in one easy step.

Great players - shite mix (even by TCN's standards).

  • my dad is good mates with tommy and he reakons hes the hardest working guitar player of all time so dont go thinking you get that gud by putting money in a wishing well only years and years of hard core work will do it

  • that was really good....i could watch it all day.

  • One of the best versions of this song I have heard. These guys are great!

  • What great music! but I'd like to know if they are truly related - they look so different.

  • yea they're brothers

  • they dont look different, they're freakin' identical man!!! lol

  • These two are shit hot!!!Go hard u guys!!!

  • don't dis this video. i don't really like country but not many people have enough technique to play like that.

  • stfu man. they're much better guitarists that you can ever hope to be.

  • Stuff Vai or Dream Theatre! This beats them both!

  • what you mean is that you favor the style or genre. you can't compare guitar skills by what style you like to hear. it would be biased.

  • No it's not that I favour the style. I like them all. I just think that Tommy is more technically abled.

  • the ending is the baddest part.

  • awesome players!

  • They are two brothers and both CGP!!!! Isnt that a crazy family? lol

  • phil isn't A CGP ;)

  • nah phil certainly isn't CGP. he hasn't contributed to the art of fingerstyle at all, however incredible he is =)

  • Phil is spectacular and great talent obviously runs in the family, but there are only 4 CGP's in the world....Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, John Knowles, & Tommy Emmanuel. There will be no more.

  • love love love it... I've been sugarfootin' awhile now.

  • Bigdood

I started to play guitar in about 1988 i was about 15 .Tommy was just starting to make a name for himself as a solo performer in OZ around that time. Back then the rest of the World hadn't heard of TE but even as a 15 year old i knew that one day the whole world would know about TE. I first heard Phil's playing on an old Nev Nichol's record called "Nashville Express" this hooked me on Phil's playing. Since then Phil & Tommy have been my two biggest influences on guitar

  • amazing as always .. i just posted some footage of them together in italy in 2002 .. search for julz parker with phil and tommy emmanuel ..

  • Awesome!

    anyone got tabs?

  • So many notes in the song that the tab would be longer than the Holy Bible ^^

  • I can only wish I had grown up "Down Under" and had the chance to experience the Emmanuel brothers together like this -- a truly remarkable display of unbelievable guitar virtuosity! Thank you very much for posting this gem of a video.

  • These guys played so many gigs together in the 80's in various bands (Wiz band was one)& had quite a following in Sydney. Always mind blowing & unparalleled - those were the days!

  • Brought back a lot of great memories. These guys were ,and are, stunning guitar players.Thank you.

  • blinding

  • god i miss ray martin

  • i remeber seeing this on TV when it was aired one afternoon. i took the day off school sick and this not only made a 14 year old feel a whole lot better but completely knocked me sideways. Fantastic stuff.

  • I dont believe in god, but thank god for the Youtube!

  • I believe in god NOW

  • love to see the Emmanuel brother's play together!! they are insane
