The government makes billions off of big oil because of all the perments and such that oil companies have to pay the government for the right to drill,look it up! Do you know that over 75% of the rigs off of the gulf coast damaged in Katrina have not been fixed because the perments are so expensive that it is cheaper to just build a new one!!

Maybe no one has bothered reading that thing we call the Constitution... however, it would be illegal for Obama to tax the oil companies seperately and give out the $1000 rebate based on the tax. It is unconstitutional to impose unfair taxes like that and it would be struck down in court. Do not believe me? Try reading the constitution.

While I do not like McCain at all, Obama is offering to do something he cannot accomplish. He should have studied up on this before speaking.
