Dude. I made this dinner for my family last night and I wish you could have seen all 3 of my children gobbeling this up. My wife was the only complaint. She was not happy I did not make enough rice for a second helping. ( I had ate fast enough to get seconds though) GREAT recipe and have already dehydrated one batch from leftovers for camping/food stores. Again just wanted to say THANK YOU.
I'm making a new batch for myself and some buddies right now. We have a trip in the Tahoe basin in a few weeks and they are all stoked that this is one of our meals. Only problem is that my house smells so good right now I'm not sure the 8 servings will make it to the trip lol.
Mmmm-Mmmm buddy! Nothing like hearty stuff on the trail. I never make my own dehydrated stuff, but I do like cooking on the trail from scratch, (simple recipes). I'll have to try some stuff like this out on the trail. Thank you for the ideas. Always fun watching your videos. Can we see some more trail stuff, soloing? Love watching those. Best to ya.

This stuff is good whether or not you dehydrate - but the videos are 10 times better that you show us how! I never thought making *real* dehydrated backpacking/camp food could be so easy or so good! I'm curious whether dehydrating in an oven works the same way, and also whether it works as well or if there are disadvantages. Thanks for posting these!
@reachoutandtouchme Hi. Thanks for watching. I use a Nesco 700 watt dehydrator. There is also a brand called Excalibur that has more surface area and made for lots of food. If your just beginning, the Nesco is your best bet. Which ever dehydrator you get, make sure it has a temperature control on it. That feature makes dehydrating almost fool proof. Good Luck.
Good recipe. I will certainly try it. I rehydrate in a two quart Coleman thermos. I use the thermos to fetch water and carry my cooking equipment. When I add boiling water to the food in the thermos it stays hot for a very long time.
I'm so glad I found your channel, Great stuff!!!!! I can't wait to try this one. Your dutch oven chili was amazing so I have a feeling this will be good great as well.
Were are you at in this video? Looks beautiful!

I tried this today, and it is great! I had to doctor mine with a little dash of salt, but other than that, it was delicious.

So what do you do with your dirty bowl when you are on the trail?
Norskand67 10 months ago
@Norskand67 I use a small trail rag and a bit of water to wash it. Normally I boil a little too much. I'll use the left over water to clean the pot.

Sir, My wife and I are just getting into dehydrating our own food for our trips.
We both love your videos, and were wondering if you would tell us what brand/type of dehydrator you use/recommend ?
