Maybe posting a transcript of the interview would be helpful, so we could just read it.
Also it would be great if you could find some software to clean up the audio track. I'm sure there is software out there to remove noise and make the audio track less grainy.
@justsomefellow - Sorry. I used old software. Someone's helping me with the audio but can only do one video at a time. We keep running into obstacles seemingly beyond us. Working on a transcript of the latest video now. Hopefully have one of this too at some point soon....
@doston1 - I try to make my videos accessible to all, including mostly poorer folks who only have dial-up. They're more the kind of people who will view it for its content, which you missed completely. I guess you couldn't care less that our top crime is a non-crime and we house a quarter of the world's prisoners, in essence orphaning children en masse by sending their parents to violent cages for illegitimate reasons. Are you for real? I mean, do you think and care about your world at all? Wow.
@DrKenHildebrandt the content is fantastic, its just that its very hard to understand and appreciate. very jarring and abrasive sound quality. D+ for sound quality. poor folks' dialup can handle a little better quality.
@wda013 - I had the information you requested as a written opening statement in a previous version, which was exactly the same as this one, apart from the intro. For some reason, when I uploaded that version to YT it became one-second longer, so it wasn't accepted, being 15:01.
Anyway, thanks for alerting me to that this information was left out. I'd forgotten to put it somewhere in my haste to finally get something posted. It's now in the video description, as per your request.
@wda013 - Done. Thanks for alerting me. I had had this written at the beginning of the video, but somehow when I uploaded it to YT it became one-second longer than the 15:00 minute limit, so they rejected it. Then, when I replaced the video, I had some computer problems so I couldn't leave any written introduction..., a long story.
Anyway, thanks again. Your questions are now answered in the description part as you requested.
Noam was right. Anslinger just ran with his made-up idea that marijuana made people go insane. Since marijuana wasn't really popular at the time, people just bought into it because people are unverisally dumb enough to a) trust their government, b) not do their own research and c)just go along with the crowd, so to speak.
@region1111 The audio is too hot and distorted, which may likely be a result of the original source material, which in that case you can't really fix that. Volume-wise though, it seems just fine on my speakers.
@Marly61 - Oh, you got me with the ol "LOL" card! It's like the "Tin Foil Hat" card, really hurts and sways the public's opinion based on nada. It should be borne in mind that this technique doesn't work with people who are intelligently trying to follow a debate about anything, much less things of this paramount importance to all our lives.
On a lighter note, it's nice you had a good laugh, though it is stated at the beginning of the video that it was to be a discussion, not an interview.
@DrKenHildebrandt@Marly61 LOL is really to general as it doesnt work well sometimes when someone is just joking but the person it is directed to is alittle anxious should I say? I would be too meeting Noam in "The Noam Zone." No, you did a good job and you were knowledgeable but your communication style in "a discussion" sounds different then most interviewers, especially at MIT, so it disattracted me.
@Marly61 - I've been meeting up with Noam in person since 2002, always to bring my findings to him until recently, the day of the last NH primary to be exact, when I asked him about the media's censoring of candidates Gravel, Kucinich and Paul.
I "interviewed" him again a year later when the MIT students were glued to the TV watching the big ceremony of Bush passing the torch to one of his own.
Wasn't nervous, though I wanted to make sure we fit everything in as short a time as possible.
@DrKenHildebrandt I understand, I didnt think you were nervous I actually assumed correctly that you had alot to get in to such a short time. I would have responded the same way. I have been communicating with Noam since 1986 but not in person you lucky guy.

Really poor quality.

could some software be used to clean up the audio track? it's a worthwhile interview but difficult to listen do.

was this recorded in the 60s? I assume so because of the quality, but Chomsky seems suprisingly old here

No excuse for this quality in 2010. My phone could do a better job, stoners.

@DrKenHildebrandt - A transcript would do a better job, and wouldn't make ears bleed, 'sif dial-up in 2010.

Would've been better if the interviewer practiced some concision.

He's making some great points but this video is very hard to hear - you've got to fix the sound quality.
