in my opinion the ultimatums shouldn't go from the unions to the companies. The company should smile, fire the emloyees threatening them, and rehire and retrain non unionized. This is called free market capitalism. You don't like the pay? Let's see if there is someone that wants your job.
so the companies can screw over the people all they want and it's a-ok. The employees have no rights at all. In the ideal world managers wouldn't be pricks and assholes, but in the real world people need to stand up to them.
Unions are bullshit. Look at BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) in the SF Bay Area. These bastards with no technical skills sit on their ass in booths to the commuter trains reading magazines fro 8 hours a day, making 70K a year. On top of that they threatent go on strike for higher pay. When you ask them a simple question they act like your interrupting their busy day.
Like we need another hole in our head. If you're a competent productive employee, you dont need some idiot union rep to do your negotiating for you. Unions are for losers who use evil corporations as their reason for failure because they cant admit to themselves that they really aren't very good at their job.
Thanks for posting. I worked for both union and non-union corporations, and know the difference is great. If the public understood this - they would SUPPORT unions. I will NOT shop at Home Depot anymore. I shopped recently at Lowes - quality products and great cust. service.
agreed - I haven't shopped at Home Depot in a long time and don't plan to return ever. Just think about all of the back room dealings that we don't hear about.
Home Depot treats their employees (long term) horribly. Low to no raises. High sales expectations with no rewards. Threats. Ridiculous benifits (can not afford them on wages paid). My husband has been employed with them for 5 years and produces over 100K in millworks sales a year. They know he is a valuable asset. His last raise was .32 per hour and he had NO negative marks against him. He is the only one that produces in the department and they know it.
Well, it is not much, but I have forwarded this to everyone I know and from this point forward I will never buy anything at Home Depot. Lowe's may not be much better. After I let the dialogue sink in, I will be drafting a letter to the corporate office of Home Depot informing them that I will no longer support their near-sighted greed.
