  • soundslike christmas carol in the philippines

  • Know what, If you just make your T's,G's, and D's. It's Perfect! You sing like filipinos do. :D

Nevertheles, They're good actually. Specially in the end. What a blast. :D

    .

PS. Lessen your body and facial Movements While singing.

    It's pretty disturbing. :)

    Mabuhay ! from Philippines. :DDDDDD

  • foreign people with filipino voices

  • ♥♥♥

  • FB/LUDABI KA BA? proudly present song from the Philippines...

  • EXCELLENT CONDUCTOR!!! THE BEST....

  • ang galing po ninyo!

    (you're awsome!)

  • ang galing po ninyo!

  • damn! the clarity, the fullness of the choir itself and that soprano gave me the goosebumps. never thought i'd hear a foreign choir sing this so greatly. i'm half Filipino and i was just blown away. great job! :)

  • kudos to you guys... you gave justice to our song... Proud to be piney! tigidong tigidong tigidong... hehehe... elated..

  • Beautifully sang, Excellent Performance !!! Congrats to its conductor, Dr Joshua Haberman, great interpretation

  • tigiding tigiding tigiding hehehehee

  • great job...

  • bravo! world class performance!

  • Such beautiful song handle by one good music coodenator iam empress god bless! this my fluent visayan words, rosas pandan who is a mountainer woman w/ beauty inside and out, legendary song of phillipines, thank so very much for singing this vintage song ohh !... just lovely ,...i cant say enought, ...tears in my eyes, keep singing guys,

  • nicely done keep it up, bet it was difficult for you guys but definitely professionally done..love you all...

  • Very beautifully sang, with the correct blending of voices, excellent performance. And to think the singers are not even from my country, they still pronounce distinctly the Visayan (Cebuano dialect in particular) accent as if it were their native language. You must have had a very good coach of that dialect to master it this way. By the way I did not get recognition for the translation I provided you as above, just like to let you know. Thanks.

  • I'm Proud to be a cebuano :D

  • Brilliant, amazing

  • Kudos to Dr. Joshua Habermann, and the choir. The best blend of voices I've heard of this performance of this piece on youtube. The dynamics and phrasing are superb (great use of sfortzandos). Control and balance are much better than the vaunted UP Madrigal Singers, and your soprano obligato sang the part beautifully, on pitch and can be heard just enough without being overbearing. Congratulations on an artistic performance.

  • If that what is transcribed on the piece, then, we can't blame them in singing lyrics. It's better if we correct the lyrics in the music library in the Philippines in which the score originated. Bravo! I am proud to be a Filipino Cebuano speaking people.

  • i found one error in the lyrics.. its not " nagtan-aw si inday" but " nagtan-aw kang inday " this refers to the gentleman whos looking at the beautifull maiden drooling with saliva in his mouth. the word "si" referred to inday literally means the other way around.

  • the soprano is awesome!

  • do you know where i can get this music for my choir?

  • @loveloie Try and get in touch with the Philippine Embassy or Trade Mission where it may be located or search their website. I know there is the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in San Francisco and another in Washington DC. They may be able to get you a copy of the musical score sheets. I am from Sydney and by the way also a Filipino and that song is my ancestral song we use to sing in school long long time ago.

  • Amazing!

  • Wheres the obbligato?

  • TIGIDING TIGIDING TIGIDING !

    BRAVO !!!

  • BRAVO !!!

  • got goose bumps :) i am a filipino you perfected the harmony and body of the song

  • BRAVO! VERY WELL DONE, SFSU!!!!!!! so amusing for them to sing a visayan song.

  • "tigadong tigadong inta-won usab si dodong" should been the rhyming words instead of "nonoy" which i assumed became the name of the young lad who admired the beautiful girl "rosas pandan" who ended up drooling with saliva (tabisay ang laway) just watching her dance (balitaw).

  • love it.... kudos... with correct diction... nice

  • The conductor is very sensitive to the dynamics. That makes for a great performance. Sounds nice and touching to me - filipino and bisaya! he he he! (Music runs in our vein! The guy who composed the famous "Kasadya" (translated into tagalog as "Ang Pasko Ay Sumapit") lived less than a mile from my home!) Well done guys! To the conductor: thank you sir for such excellent interpretation! Their diction also sounded so "pilipino"! :) Salamat kaayo mga inday ug mga dodong! :)

  • Outstanding rendition save for the lyrics which are wrong... NONOY should be DODONG, and "Intawon usab si Nonoy nagtan-aw si Inday, nagtabisay ang laway" should be "Intawon usab si DODONG nagtan-aw KANG Inday, nagtabisay ang laway". The grammatical error reverses the roles of Dodong and Inday in this line.

  • super like it ^^

  • really awesome men i am a bisaya from philippines and this is our native language and i am proud of u guyz really excellent performance tnx !

  • Tigidong Tigidong XD

  • goosebumps.....

  • BEAUTIFUL RENDITION OF A VISAYAN SONG.WONDERFUL ARRANGEMENT.CONGRATULATIONS!!1

  • Why there are no people at the front seat?hehe

    nice rendition..

  • WOW! nice job...

  • yeah the music plays the chorale!

  • nanindug akong balhibo nga nakadungog sa ilang pagawit. pagkatahom kaayo.

  • ani-a si rosas pandan, gikan pa tawon sa kabukiran... LOL

  • Wow they got it! Thats the right way to sing it. Great blending.

  • Thank you very much!!! You made us Filipinos proud with your superb rendition of this classic.

  • "Gwapo!!!" (VIsayan term for Beautiful!)

  • awesome guys!!!

  • tigidong tigidong tigidong.. :)

  • wow! what can i say, i just love it......

  • love it!

  • ang galing galing niyo tnx for singing bravo...

  • Cool, they really sang it well with the correct Cebuano-Visajan accent.. Bravo!!! From the Republic of Cebu (queen city of the south)

  • great job!

  • woah! that was amazing! and to think that you're not Filipinos made me impress you more! keep up!

  • i love it! =)

  • truly music is universal. look the way they dance as if they know what they are singing...... very very good interpretation...

  • The best version I have ever heard!

  • Grabe ba! I have goodbumps. Best interpretation of this song. Good job! Congratulations!

  • Wow

  • signing this song is really difficult

  • the soprano obbligato gave me chills :)

  • Can i ask you something? how did the director chose this repertoire?!

  • There is a mistake hahah it is suppose to be "Kang inday" not "Si Inday" hahahah nevertheless they are good!!!

  • @johnrhey0625

    who cares that much?

  • muy chula, me gusta

  • Does anybody know if you have to be in a music major to join this?

  • All choirs at San Francisco State University are open to all students by audition. There are fun choirs for every skill level!

  • Hopefully I'll study next year at SFSU and I would love to join this!

  • And I love the descant.

  • It's sounds great. The only problem was the pronunciation and the lyrics. But the pronunciation is hard for those who do not actually speak the dialect. So maybe just focus on the lyrics.

  • This is great. :) :P :D

  • ohhh the dodong and inday!!!

  • Congratulations! Beautiful arrangements.

However, when you say "si Inday" instead of "kang Inday" it means that the lovely Rosas Pandan is the one who is drooling instead of the lovestruck Dodong- very unladylike.

I like the ending "lawaaaaayyy...."- the drool...the droooll...! Lovely, isn't it?

    My native dialect exactly.

  • The drool... the droooolll! This cracks me up LOL!!

Nevertheless back in the days of our grandma and grandpa, this has to be no malicious or funny connotation. Back when people are guileless and unsophisticated.

  • Bravo! And that's a hard song to sing! I would know because it's my native dialect and even I muddle up the lyrics at times. XD Good job!

  • i dont think a d is an aspirated vowel sound in the english alphabet. for sure the t, k, p sould not aspirated in most foreign language like this rosas pandan piece. but kudos to all of you who brave to learn this diffgicult yet lively song. its fun to listen and watc you guys sing our song. im all proud of you. keep up the good work.

  • WOW! i'm impressed! well executed! bravo!

  • wow! next time try " Ikaw" and Ikaw lamang"

  • I JUST LOVE IT PERIOD

  • i love this song! it was very well done and i had a hard time learning it! but definitely loved it!

  • I've gotta find this choir and join it. Sucks being a freshie. Haha. I like the way this was sung though.

  • i really love the way they interpreted the song...especially the dynamics... keep it up... tnx for patronizing our music...

  • OMG You guys are AMAZING! Thank you for singing ROSAS PANDAN. As a child growing up in the Philippines, my grandmother always sing this song to us. It brings back old memories. You delivered the song beautifully and perfectly.

  • amazing performance. great song. =)

  • wow! they sung it in perfect accent!.... im very much impressed!........ Congratulations to all the members... im so proud of you. and im also proud to be a Cebuano....

  • WHOA!!! IMPRESSIVE!!

  • i enjoyed the choral arrangement very much with a huge la la la intro and the sounds of tigadong tigadong is so tickling and makes u smile and the finale is so climactic "ang laway" the guy's saliva is drooling as he watches this beautiful country girl strut her dance called "balitaw". maayo kaayo gyud professor. EXCELLENT!

  • One of the most challenging songs to sing even by our own visayan choirs. They totally nailed it...

  • almost perfect. it's "dodong" not "dodoy" and it's "nagtan-aw kang inday" not "nagtan-aw ni inday".

  • They probably had the same sheet music we did. Instead of "Dodong", it was printed "Nonoy", and instead of "kang Inday", it was printed "si Inday". We had to re-learn that part for Honor Choir because the CD that came with it followed the sheet music.

  • Congratulations, guys! Wonderful interpretation. It's my native tongue, so please, please, change the mistakes as the meaning totally changes. Yes, the scores should be changed from "Nonoy" to "Dodong" and from "si Inday" to "kang Inday." Dodong is supposed to be the one drooling, NOT Inday! More power to you all!

  • impressive! your visayan is almost perfect ;D

  • Agree with you. The "t", "p" and "d" were not like 'aspirated'.

  • dude!! Dr. Habermann is so funny, I remember singing with you guys for our fall concert.(Atleast I think it was fall) you guys were in Porterville. "Naughty Piano" never will forget that. Haha.

  • HEY i sang this with them lol. I go to COS an we were fortunate to sing with them. I was and am in the COS chamber group. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!!! This is the future choir that i want to go to

  • The Best Interpretation of this piece, i may say.... Very Well Done, It's almost authentic. Im from the Philippines by the Way

  • it's great!

    8.5 points out of ten!

    great job.

    diction almost perfect.

  • diba dodong mana dili dodoy? ay sus parehas ra gihapon uy, nindot gihapon sil ug tingog, walay makapalag ana

  • AMAZING!!! goosebumps all throughout

  • kanindot jud oi! love it.

  • omg. NICE!! very amazing! I love the voices! <3

  • I come from the island where this song originated before I moved to the States 20 yrs. ago. I applaud the pronunciation coach. He/she did a great job.

  • Well done. I'm having goose pimples while watching this video. Bravo!!!

  • You all were wonderful! My voice teacher and I came from Victorville, CA to see the ACDA convention and we loved your performance. Great job!
