in singleplayer my fps sometimes get down to 50 :/ if u use right click for aim (sry i dont know the english word for) the fps gets reduced :/ .. for example in the sniper mission "ghilled up" or sth like that.. if i look at the start of the mission at the free field and right click .. my fps get down to 60 :/ is this normal? cause u said you have 90-100 without fraps .. i sometimes got >100 too .. but not continously!

i just got the 250 this weekend and very impressed. i can max the graphics in both l4d2 and cod6 with no prob, only difference is l4d2 gets around 123 fps (avg) and cod6 gets about 76 fps (avg)

Left 4 Dead 2, you'll be getting somewhere over 9,000 fps (joking of course), but you'll be able to run that very well. I'm not too sure about CoD6, however. Chances are that you'll be able to run that at a nice framerate as well. If anything, maybe throw in a little bit more of ram, it never hurts and in some cases ram will help to determine how smoothly you'll be able to run your games :P.

Maybe your pc has a crappy cpu or ram. Those also affect the fps. Its called bottlenecking. I have a gts 250 with an e8400 as a cpu, slight bottleneck, not that much though. I get around 300-500 fps on CSS with my gts 250, so yeah, you have a bottleneck cpu or ram.

Just a tip: Overclock from 2.66Ghz to 3.2Ghz as every single GPU needs more then 3.0Ghz to get maxiumum performance.

And with a GTS250, you should get around 60FPS maxed out.

Haha, of course!! I got my Q6600 to 3.6Ghz on stock cooling! Your Q8400 is clocked higer then a 6600 so all your doing is overclocking it by 500Mhz, whilst I had to overclock mine by 1000Mhz.

IF you search around on Toms Hardware, you will understand why a GPU needs a CPU over 3.0Ghz to get max performance. It will increse your frames by around 20FPS depending on the game.

I mean, if you got 60FPS maxed out on CoD4 you will get around 80-100FPS. Thats a big boost!

The GTS 250 is basically a rebranded 9800GTX+, which is 25%-30% faster then a 8800GT OCed to the same speeds, which the 8800GT is slower to start with.

The GTS 250 uses the G92 core, which first appeared in the 8800GT and GTX. These were rebranded in the 9800GT and GTX.

This game never sputters at all on my pc and my temp stays the same no matter i play 1 or 5 hours. heres my specs. Biostar TA790GX 128mb mobo. Evga GTS 250 SC edition, AMD 7850 (Dual 2.8) OC to 3.5, and 4g OCZ 1066. liquid cooled. because setup of mobo the gpu is near bottom of case so i lost room for putting my pump and res inside my case. oh well ill get another GTS 250 to fill the dead space after i make some more money ill be posting a vid of my pc soon after i make room on the camera
