  • I got the same motherboard an I was wondering if someone could make a video about HOW 2 install BIOS update, cuz i cant find any video on youtube.

    IF u do it thanks

  • @JAGUAR1CE Go to asus.com type in the search bar : asus rampage gene II go to Download and select your operating system, and you will find the user manual, at chapter 3 is : how to update your Bios. You also find all the drivers on asus site.

  • Hey i got this board and i put 12GB Memory in it and in the bios and windows it shows as 8GB, on CPUZ i can see all the 12GB though, anyone know how to fix this? is there a bios setting that i need to enable or something? thanks if anyone has some assistance.... btw this board rocks!

  • @maltatravel dude same problem here i put 6GB ddr3 1333 ram...it shows 4 in bios and 6 in cpuz

  • They should have called it GEN

  • uhh no usb 3.0?

  • Is he grounded?

  • nice video

  • wonder if a COOLIT vantage watercoolin system going to block the dimm slots

  • I count 6 sata ports lol.

  • @YamiPoyo

eSATA in the back too bro

  • @YamiPoyo

eSATA in the back too bro

  • @YamiPoyo ... I personally own this board...and I can confirm that are indeed 7 SATA ports..there is one that is black and is verticle. ;)

  • "Obviously 1366 socket"

.... Obviously? It's not like it's a must to have a hex-core £800 I7 in every machine you build. Which by the way has the same architecture as an I5 except for the 2 extra cores.

  • can i put a cooler master v8 on it?

  • Albert! We had the same dream!

  • SEE! size doesn't matter.

  • chinese saying: production date: 2009 March 17th

  • Anyone know where i can find Windows 7 drivers to this motherboard?

  • Very nice review :)

  • can u put a intel i5 760 processor

  • @vig2705 No this board uses the 1366 socket and the i5 760 uses the 1156. So no sorry go look at 1156 motherboards.

  • @vig2705 No

  • @vig2705 NO only for core i7 9xx series

  • I have no idea what any of this means, but it sounds cool.

  • does this mother board support quad core prossesors?

  • @BenDover137

all X58 processors are quad cores or hexacores and in a few months maybe an 8-core

  • @thereddog223 Got any info to back that up?

  • hey is it plug and play? can i put it in, plug it into my power and graphics, ram etc. and then turn it on? do i have to by a proccesor, cpu, or what?

  • Comment removed

  • he's wrong it supports up to 24gb of ddr3 lol

  • please slowdown while you explain

  • Socet 1366 best 4 gaming?

  • I wish I knew what the hell you are talking about...

Is it a good board or not??? ;-)

  • Comment removed

  • whats the best 1156 socet or 1366 4 gaming?

  • Comment removed

  • @aimmordi1 1366, with a BIOS update, if you have the cash to do it, Core i7 980X.

Though, being an AMD fan, I'd go with an AMD Phenom II X6 1090T.

  • @aimmordi1 1366 is i7 core 1156 is i5. i7 is the best cpu in the world

  • @NLglennNL wrong, 1156 also supports i7 860, which is really nice same as 920 pretty much.

  • Thanks. Really appreciate it. I was planning to combine this board with an i7-930, does the overclocking software on this simply allow me to wind up the processor speed? Budget wise I've got about AU$330 for graphics cards, I'm thinking its better to get 2 x XFX ATI 5770's in CrossFire for the same price as a 5850? Antec Signature Series 850W ATX PS, Corsair DDR3 6GB PC-12800/1600 (2 gb simms), WD Caviar 2 tb drive > I get $1,650.30 AUD via Centrecom all up. Reasonable?

  • "It means freakin awesome, is what it means!"

  • I think this is something of Albert's wet dreams...

  • 6 x DIMM, Max. 24 GB, DDR3 2000(O.C.)/1800(O.C.)/1600(O.C.)/1333/1066 Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory

  • Nice review... one think tho...

1:31 Memory up to 12 GB?

    "6 x DIMM, Max. 24 GB, DDR3 2000(O.C.)/1800(O.C.)/1600(O.C.)/1333/1066 Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory" Asus

  • all that but yet no sata 3

  • im building an i7 920 , rampage 2 gene , 2 ati 5850 black editions , 1200 watt psu inside of a armor + mx.

  • it that motherboard a pro-do type?

  • Dude, just buy this board, an i7-930, 6GB DDR3, a Radeon 585O, a good tower and power supplier that fit your needs and be computer-happy for many years.

  • raelly nice board i have it in my computor it's owning on lanparty!!

  • @callesvensk

dose it support intel i7 930??

I'm going to buy this bord whit i7 930 and GTX 280, and OCZ Intel DDR3 2x2GB

    Reply plz

  • @JAGUAR1CE yes it does :D i thougt i should not first but the pc is working now xD

  • @JAGUAR1CE That would be weird.

You should get 3x2 GB RAM, and not a GTX 280. Get a HD 5850, or something like the nvidia GTX 470/480

  • @JAGUAR1CE yes. i recommend 920 so much cheaper and more or less the same.

  • i have this board its epic

  • Smullaghy: how do you mean epic? becuase i go to buy it soon.

are there bad things i must to know?

  • i love it

  • i Getting this baby in my new pc soon with an i7 930

  • Would I be able to use Corsair Dominator DDR3 Tri-channel (1866) memory on this? or would I have to overclock?

  • @iiTzQuiik No you need to buy DDR3 1600 memory and then cool it verry good.

And then start overclocking it easly to 1866 if you want.

  • dont get phenom II you'll regret it badly!!!! like me now im trying to coup up some cash and get core i7

  • It's pronounced GENE hehehehe

  • oh yeah everyone can afford to put core i7s, liquid cooling, 2 gtx 295s and what not in their secondary lan system.....

  • AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition is it better then I7,I am only going to game or i5 ?

  • If it's only for gaming than I'd go with the Phenom II. It's close in performance, great for over-clocking, and not too bad on your wallet. I'm building one right now.

  • Comment removed

  • @thereddog223 - nah, it's good. prolly the best if you want 6 cores and don't want to spend $1K. The i5's and entry level i7's are good too.

  • Comment removed

  • Is this motherboard better then a ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 going to get a 5970 in a antec 1200 which is best?

  • Get an ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 - It's more stable, has better features and it's just a little bit more expensive.

Rampage II Gene = Little not as stable brother or the deluxe v2.

Still, both of them are GREAT mobo's

  • should i get this "gene" board or should i get "MSI x58 pro"? For intel i7 2.66 (920)

  • Anyone have any problems with a CPU cooler not fitting with all RAM slots filled in with DIMMs with high cooling fins on this mobo?

  • "you get one of these really cool I don't even know what they're calling these things, mini pci express"

    Is that just a PCI e x1?

Are you kidding me Albert? How does he not know this?

  • its a pci e x4 --> it says it right on the board. how did you not see that? he even says it

  • @RobertAdrian1 OH my bad. I've never bought a motherboard with one of those and never needed it.

  • @RobertAdrian1 the black slot???is pci e x4...but the blu is x16...you can see?idk

  • @edsonbeux The black slot is PCI-e 4x and 8x and The bleu one is PCE-e 16x

  • 0:29-0:31

  • 1:29-1:31 * :D

  • Hello,

Im thinking about to buy an Asus Rampage II Gene.

I have an Antec Nine Hundred Two Mid-Tower Case, and my question was:

Does this motherboard fit into this case? and also, could i run all the fans with this motherboard?

  • ofcourse, its a micro-ATX, what processor do you have?

  • This guy really knows his abc's :) Nice.

  • omg its support intel core i7

  • I swear there is some force or 'being' that doesnt want me to have a working PC, i just wanted an i7/ddr3/x58 setup but oooh no im denied that luxury, after spending about 40 pounds on shipping RMA parts back ive still had no luck, ive send back everything! memory seems to be the biggest problem so far though, tell a lie i havent sent back the CPU but that cant be the problem, its seated fine it its socket and there arent any bent pins so whats the deal?! would someone pray for me please :(

  • PatPat...I have the p6t with a dead dimm slot as well. And as you know, Asus' RMA system is a disgrace. This is added atop a Gigabyte UDR3 that was stuck in the reboot loop. So yeah, my X58 experience hasn't been all that good. Considering the above said issues, I'm a glutton to be on the verge of buying the Gene II...or maybe not; hopefully EVGA's micro-atx will be the one

  • @tquet sorry to hear that :( I feel dead inside after all the stuff ive sent back and still i dont have a working PC. Ive sent back two rampage genes, one set of patriot viper 6gb ddr3 and now ive sent back some OCZ gold ddr3 because one of the three sticks was dead on arrival. Ive now got an ASUS p6t coz it was on offer and im waiting for some replacement OCZ gold ram so i can finally have my pc working again with full triple channel enabled. I swear that god doesnt want me to have a working PC

  • im after a motherboard around about 300dollers and i want a ddr3 mobo i want to over clock on it what would you say is a good decent mobo ?

  • I got my replacement rampage gene and the same memory faulty happened again, the first two DIMMs are DEAD. Do yourselves a favor and wait until all the bugs have been worked out, they might bring out a rampage II gene v2 that is better and more revised. Im going to RMA both my motherboard and my patriot memory, might go for a p6t with some OCZ gold ddr3 or something nice and reliable.

  • and yeah its gene as in genes/genetics :D

  • I have to send this board back tomorrow because the first two ram slots are -dead- so i can run my 6gb ddr3 in triple channel, you dont spend 170 pounds ona board for it to not work what an utter disgrace. hopefully the replacement board will be ok otherwise ill be getting an asus p6t instead, im fed up with stuff not working. Also the chipset on this board runs at like 70 degrees so youll need a fan pointed on it!

  • Hi there, as i know all the mobo intel socket that support i7 or i5 have a little bit problem on the ram slot. U must install the ram on white dimm only if u have ( 2gb x 3). or blue, install on blue dimm only.

  • @Edsynz my goal was to have all three sticks running in triple channel, if you start swapping the slots around you lose the triple channel mode and it goes back to dual channel, the blue slots are the primary slots anyway so putting all sticks in the white slots meant i couldnt even get a boot or post.

  • Just picked up an intel core i7. This is gonna be my mobo!

  • @hille32

Don't do it. Mine died after 90 day of use and ASUS sucks tech support sucks big time. They keep ducking on me for an RMA.

  • the black sata port is meant for an esata port on a case or a hotswap drive. its meant for something that is removed regularly.

  • I order this mobo last week and should be here by monday morning. i cant wait to get my hands on it. I will put a Xeon 3xxx prcoessor on it. Just a general question: Which ram will be best use for this mobo? Kingston Hyperx 2000 6GB, or Corsairs Dominator 6Gb 2000? Im thinking about going for one of these.

  • wtf? The board can do SLI and Crossfire?

  • Did you watch the whole vid? They support both..

  • @CRonaldo07LMessi10 almost all x58 boards can do that...

  • the asus website says Max RAM 24 GB?

  • when the 4GB DIMMs come out that is

  • Who needs more than 12Gb yet? Maybe if you do very heavy 3D....

  • Could anyone help me i have got this board with 2 xfx hd 4890's 6 gb ddr 3 1600 mhz intel core i7 920 2 1 tb harddrives samsung f1 and f3 corsair 750 watt hx psu and win 7 preruim why do i get the bsod everytime i start up it boots up on the second attempt anyone got my problem and how did you sort it thanks sorry about my spelling

  • Between this mobo and the EVGA micro ATX which one do you guys recomend

  • i keep seeing these MOBOS....whats the advantage of having DUAL ethernet ports???

  • Lots of thing, you can do all sorts of cool stuff with dual network adapters.

  • well thanks for not answering the question and being as vague as possible lol

  • No problem! lol.

Nah you can do useful things like bridge connection & then you can use it like a train in a network, not so fast than straight from router but works. Also it means if one eats it you have a spare. You have multiple MAC adresses so if you get hardware banned somewhere it's not the end of the world. Etc

  • nice.7 sata ports!thats like 7 tb of storage .

  • Can anyone please tell me if I should get Gigabyte motherboard for core i7 ddr3 triple channel or asus rampage ii gene, I see that this one has better sound, and about $50 cheper than gigabyte ex 58 ud4p. I won't be overclocking any thing so is it still worth buying.

  • @redflw no, not worth buying unless you overclock, or going to have two top of the line cards in there, if you want to put in 2 150 $ vid cards in there trying to save money, it will not be worth it, buy something that does not have buttons for overclocking, and then you can look for whatever conectivity you will need in the future, you want an atx if you can get it, and if you have a small case, then you will not be able to have 2 extreme vid cards, unless you spend a b ut load on case cooling

  • i'mma get this if i go intel or the crosshair 3 foormula for amd

  • Correction: *Less PCI-E Slots.

  • can this guy just not count? I've seen him miscount on other things

  • He's pointing at 7. 6 are blue, and 1 is black (just to the left, facing up.

  • ok, I see, thnx :-)

  • It also uses 1156 cpu's

  • No it doesn't...

  • LGA1366 only, theres no socket that fits 2 sockets, that would be weird :)

  • on their website they say they support up to 24 GB's of ram, if you can even find 3X4GB DIMMS.

  • you can, they are just expensive.

  • this guy speaks incredibly fast...

  • sexy

  • Just built my PC with this motherboard! AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. put it in a Silverstone FT01 Case

  • hey titancrusher1,

I also bought rampage gene II with Silverstone case, but the power and reset button is not responding.

  • you need to make sure the connections are correctly put in the right place in your motherboard. The case should have connectors built in. Check the mobo manual for a guide :)

  • shit man what are you talking about??? much of talking but no sens...

  • what are the risks with using the 4 pin connector?

  • You will have less wattage when your overclocking, so it would be safer to go with 8pin so you have the maximum wattage.

  • I finally have it guys. I put this board in the Thermaltake Spedo case. It is completely dwarfed in the 2 foot tall case. but it is beautiful. i have an i7-920 which i will overclock when i install my thermal take bigwater cooler in december. This board kicks ass. and the sticker.... i don't have to say much more.

  • will i be able to put 2 n275 gtx's on this motherboard in a antec p180 mini?

  • can you review this

MSI X58M 1366 Intel X58 uATX Intel Motherboard

  • wohoooooooo finnaly i get to go sli in ma micro atx

  • I have this motherboard, with 6gb corsair 2000o/c and, it is the better.

    really is motherboard is wonderfull..

  • the sticker and the board 2 hd 4890 are fitting pefectly in the nzxt rogue case (with red fans)

  • is that 7 sata ports? i see only 6 :O

  • its lga1366 socket board-quad is lga775.

    It wont ever fit.

  • I have been having wet dreams about this mobo all week. I am just not sure about which graphics card to get. ATI and Nvidia are both going hard!

  • I'm gettin this board with a GTX 260 core 216. You can get the XFX one for 170 on newegg now and it comes with Batman.

  • Sweeeeeeeeeeet! MOBO !!

  • core 2 quad wont fit in this board?

  • no it wont work

  • NO it wont it is socket 1336 !!!

  • no its an x58 motherboard

  • I love this board!!!!!!!!

  • Great board and 100% perfect review thank you.

  • This would make for a great HTPC rig if it had an integrated GPU.

  • Comment removed

  • no - its for LGA1366 CPU's (The i7's) - q6600 is lga 775 - go for a P5Q or something like that for you cpu..

  • Err this is a Socket 1366 board. None of the Core 2 CPUs will even fit.

  • Lol its called being biased, they get payed to market the item so they can't give any negative reviews,I guarantee you that in the near future he'll be trashing this mobo when its successor is released.

  • This guy reviews are all positive about the producst..they never have any negative comments.

  • They are salemen or tigerdirect

  • i have a question i have bough tin germany 2 part of one pc pc that i want to build it is the gpu and the ram but i bought the mobo in netherland it is the asus rampage gene will it work fine together or whil it fail

  • same voltages i think so should work

  • lol...i7 955...whats that Alby?

  • very good video man

  • Getting one and switching to a small case to save space in my room lol. :)

  • On mine I actually got a 3dmark06 key instead of vantage.

  • wt happened 2 the express gate ?

  • where did logan go ?

  • Ill probably get this with an intel i7 920 and a HD 4890 not sure bout sli because i dont know what the hell it does lol but im sure ill figure it out

  • you can plug in 2 Nvidia cardsd and connect them to gether

  • ok cool

  • I wouldn't SLI or Crossfire at this point because I think the DX11 cards are coming in the next 6 months. You might as well get a 4870 or GTX 260 for cheap now, and then upgrade to a DX 11 card. That's what I would do anyways.

  • What about the EVGA X58 SLI Micro. If you could get or if EVGA provide you a sample of this board, can you make some review on this too? Thanks Albert! More power to TigerDirectBlog...

  • It's too expensive

  • It's far from the most expensive X58 board, believe me.
