That miniboss does suck eggs, rotten ones. I'm awful at this too. I used to play Sonic 3 with my dad. He'd run away from the bosses and minibosses while I used Tails to kill them. Poor Tails, he died a lot.... :P

You have to get on the spinning drill and jump on the guy's head and keep bouncing. He'll put down that prodding thing and get hit on it until he dies. That's how you avoid getting hurt yourself.

Those floating platforms are exactly that. They are a platform with balloons on the bottom (thats what the red stuff on the bottom is meant to be, I thought it was lava when I was a kid). Obviously when it hits the floor and stops the balloons are burst.

I play the special stages the same way too!
