  • 1. Tori is AWESOME! LOVE Ya! 2. I listen to this while playing my Blood Elf Hunter in World Of Warcraft. :D 3. Tori will be my soundtrack when Guild Wars 2 comes out! ;)

  • Lovely, but marred. If I wanted to hear her daughter sing....

  • The new Tori Amos album will be good! After a seven-year break Tori I have returned! Incredibly, the resuscitation and reincarnation has taken place! Tori Amos, however, is the greatest love of my youth! I was taken over by a real pleasure listening to this song! Love may come back that was lost ... And my heart is again just as thrilled as it was in my youth, watching and listening to this - woman of my destiny!

  • I wanted to like this album given the fact that I’ve been a tori fan for quite awhile (I can still remember sitting on my daybed as a kid listening to “under the pink). I just think the last two albums have been “blah”. I understand that artists change and no one wants the same album repackaged but what happened to the “oomph” of her previous work? “Under the pink” was completely different from “boys for Pele” which was completely different from “scarlet’s walk” but they were all amazing.

  • When is Tori coming to LA? I have yet to see her live, but it would seriously rock to hear this album live!

  • OMG... how could i resist such beautiful music!!! How on earth I missed this out all these years...

  • for some reason i thought tori amos was like a twenty/twenty five year old but i just found out she's 48 :P her voice is soo great <3

  • I am the BIGGEST Tori fan!!! I mean Die Hard!!! I even have Tatoos of her on my body but I have to say this CD does sound like shit! Her daughter does have an amazing voice for a 12 year old and maybe someday she will come into her own. I am listening and trying to give it a chance but the music just is not calling to me the way it used to. Maybe she has peeked out. I can always go back to her older albums when I need my dose of Tori and I do!!! Be thankful for that... Jesse in Seattle WA

  • @purleyjth1 ........ so YOU are 39 and JUST created a YouTube acct to comment on this ? and diss a 12 yr old ( soooo believable) .... oh and it is "peaked" not "peeked" .... like peek a boo i see you !

  • @ticklemepinktoo Actually, it's "PIQUED my interest" - do some research before making uninformed comments.

  • @wrenreader ..... so "high brow "..... U don't get laid so much huh spell ck QUEEN ... : ) thank you so very much for setting me straight

  • @wrenreader You are so wrong, the correct word would have been PEAKED, as in, her career has already peaked. Why does everyone have to be so snarky on these posts? And then be wrong, as well!

  • @ticklemepinktoo .... darn missed your comment ( 4weeks ago) .... and i wish I were 39 ! .... that has been a LITTLE while : ) ......thank you for the spelling lesson ...

  • Respond to this video...

  • @purleyjth1 Give it a chance, give it some time. It is really, I mean, really good. Try to understand that it's not just a music that she needed to do with some borders set to sell it - she did it of her own will, the way she wanted, the way she felt like is right. That's why this one is different, and that's also why it's better. She's happy with it, see. If you're her fan, you should be happy too that she's happy, right? ;)

  • She needs to retire. She is scraping the bottom of the barrel these days. This sounds like shit.

  • i must admit, i cant stand classical music, for some reason i cant stop playing this album, perhaps tori made these peices come alive!

  • I really love the epic soundtrack feeling of these songs. Who is singing with the raspy-ish voice?

  • ::yaaaawn:: at least it'll give her an excuse to slap new pictures of herself on everything and sell selll selll...gawd she's turned into the Thomas Kinkaid of music.

  • I love Tori, but this album is a snooze fest. The first Tori album I WON'T be buying.

  • jobs coffin is NOT tori singing.

  • @speccyride I think it's her daughter Natasha.

  • @Nali134 THATS AMAZING :)

  • Anyone know who did the artwork for the album cover?

  • I had the pleasure of seeing her live in New Orleans in 1998. My girlfriend at the time was a huge Tori fan. I heard it when she would put a CD on, but never really LISTENED to it until the night of the concert I kind of begrudgingly agreed to go with her to. Experiencing Tori Amos live is as spiritual as a music experience can get. She is as beautiful as her songs and she puts 100% of herself and her soul into every song she performed that night. Turned me into a true fan that night.

  • I will forever love Tori as my favorite musician, and I do like what I hear. There are moments when I fear she is losing her edge and going too mellow, then I remember who she is, and know this is just another step on her brilliant path. Her transformations are always unique. The anger and passion we all fell in love with - is still there, it's just changing to reflect who she is today...

  • @wiccart13 The passion does not leave otherwise I doubt very much she would continue doing what she does. Just because she may have less"anger" in the work does not make it any less passionate. It just means that she is dealing with a different set of emotions. That does not have to signify a lowering of quality. Same for any artist.

  • @candelise I didn't mean any disrespect, as for "lowering quality", I never said that. I said "losing her edge" as a reference to her grungy rebellious side (that some of her fans miss) Tori could humm or whistle a song and still manage to have a higher quality than other musicians. This just isn't my favorite album of hers, mainly because of the classical medium.

  • @wiccart13 It seems that a certain loss of that 'grungy rebellious side' REPRESENTS a lowering of quality to some of her fans as that was what attracted many initially. As for the classical medium, so much of Toris' music contains that element anyway, which then begs the question of how much of her stuff do you like?

  • Job's coffin sounds great

  • reviews thus far as of 9/18/11:

The Daily Express hailed the album, calling it "complex, accomplished and [Amos'] finest work in a decade," The Daily Mail declared it antithetical to "easy-listening", also raving, "[Amos] is a real talent, " referencing" virtuoso" piano work.

Spin praised the "a wildly imaginative ride full of orchestral fireworks"

The Scottish magazine, The Skinny compared it to "the stark and candid nature of Under The Pink," strongest album in over a decade

  • @DigitalGhost94 re: private comment.

    i tried to be nice.

    you're an idiot.

    game over.

  • I can't wait<3

  • I found the entire album (full-length), and after listening to it, I take back what I said before. I am surprised at how much I enjoy Tash's appearance in the album. It's different, for sure, but has a sort of gritty relief to it. And the album has qualities that remind me of her old ones... like 9 minute songs with intricate instrumental solos. :)

  • @DigitalGhost94

i didn't mean to sound like a jerk, but re-reading my comments that's what it sounds like to me. sorry about that...it wasn't my intention.

  • @DigitalGhost94 her face seems to have "settled" and she looks beautiful again...just not like tori. I'm not judging. i am a diehard fat who's been to 26 shows starting in 1993 (before you were born?) =[

i am concerned, and i've talked to other fans who feel the same way....maybe for no reason. it just seems "the voices" and "women "she channels have become increasingly dark I.g. Curtain Call, (arguably Maybe California) and others. everyone just wants the best for her.

  • @DigitalGhost94 having a hard time posting links. i've never done it on YouTube.

  • @DigitalGhost94 um..the "devastating" comment was referring to From The Choirgirl Hotel where most of the songs she wrote were about her miscarriage/stillborn baby and what she went thru. Maybe you didn't know?

There are also B-Sides...listen to Ruby Through The Looking Glass. If that's not devastation I don't know what is. And she was amazing and brave to share those songs with the world. I'll post the links to the pics. 1 link is tagged offensively, i can't change that. =(

  • is the other one singing her daughter? if so, i´m looking forward to hear from her in a few years:-)... sounds so grown up from time to time though...

  • is the other one singing her daughter? if she is i´m looking forward to hear from her in a few years!!! sounds so grown up in between though...

  • wheres the interview of her talking about the concept of night hunters??!! i dont wanna hear the album until it's released i cant believe ur allow to put this on youtube it should be band until offical release!!!

  • Can't wait for this album! xx

  • i'm loving every minute of it! :)

  • I love Tash voice!!! has nothing to do with Tori's voice, meaning it is very different from that of her mother, but i like it coz it is a great voice, and an unusual one.

  • whole album leaked now!

  • OMG... Tori's offspring singing singing singing! Can't. Wait.

  • Tori Amos has a special place in my heart.but somehow i lost the feeling for her music.

i could careless about her the last few albums, but right now am totally looking forward to the 20th.

  • @Ramshoshi i hear what you're saying. the problem i have is how "disassociated" tori's become from herself. what made her so powerful as an artist was writing from her heart...the visceral experience of both joy and pain. she hasn't connected to her music since SW. Since she "split" personalities with the "girls" things have changed...that and the plastic surgery makes me really worry about her. it makes me so sad. =(

  • It must have been devastating for her, but imo From The Choirgirl Hotel is her best album by far. I hope this album surprises me...

  • @Orwellify whats devastating for her?! shes doing exactly what she's supposed to do cos she listens to the voice in her head and runs with it.

  • I love that she has Tash on this album too. Wow! I can't wait!!!

  • I need this music :O

  • It appears to be her most stirring work so far, overwhelming!

  • haven't been this excited about a Tori record for 10 years or longer. this sounds sooooo promising!!!

  • I think we're in for something quite unusual... looking forward to the whole thing (and dvd- but I do hope the dvd is better than the abnormally attracted to sin dvd...)

  • 16 days! Tori has always managed to compose music that goes right along with where I am in life... I couldnt have asked for anything better than this. It's beautiful music. Seven Sisters sounds just.. wow. I love the classical influences of this album, many are familiar to me. I love that she's using her daughter and niece in the album and i love that she continues to explore different aspects of herself and others. Cant wait to hear The Light Princess =D!

  • This is already the best album since Scarlet's Walk......I am super excited! And I kind of like that Tori is sort of passing the torch down to her lovely daughter Natashya...who has vocal character all her own. Bet you bottom dollar I'll be listening to Tash's work in the future.

  • one good thing about this album may be the fact there are no childish-like electric guitars (like for example on Beekeper, and the rest after), I think Tori should change musicians in the band from time to time

  • sounds like Boys For Pele 2. This would be one of her best albums.

  • Tash's voice sounds like "I blam coco"... Coco Sumner, Sting's daughter.

  • @lifestandstillhere I love Tori, but that's just it. I want Tori, not Tash! Some songs like "Carry" I like because they seem like a return to her old style; but a lot just don't sound right to me. Off-putting is an accurate description.

  • @KaKoonKrash O Piss off

  • @KaKoonKrash U are officially an idiot. How can you honestly and thoroughly judge this work from 30 secs of each song?!

  • with that video i would say my faves are Carry, Shattering Sea, Night Of Hunters nd Your Ghost. nice melodies <3 can't wait for this album <3

  • This is D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S : - )) !!!

  • @VessielGavar Ya... I agree.. I thought I was buying a new Tori Amos album... but I guess I can't really say anything yet since I haven't heard the album in its entirety. (sp)

  • Wow, you can really hear the classical influences in some of these songs. I noticed that in the preview of Battle of Trees, you can hear some of Gnossienne, 1. Lent by Erik Satie.

  • @amylost23lbs i noticed the same thing with battle of trees!

  • Tash sings like Billy Holiday :D

    cant wait for the album

  • I am most interested in "Seven Sisters" and "Battle of Trees" right now. LOVE the first track--what an opener! I'm neutral on "Carry"

What do people think, I wonder, of the inclusion of other voices? It could be great, but I'm a bit offput when I hear it, I admit.

  • @lifestandstillhere --I try to look at it, with Tash particularly, that Tori is passing the torch. Getting Tash some exposure early will help her ignite her own career and possibly have an easier time doing so than Tori did. I dont mind it, maybe Tori realizes her vocals have become limited in aging and having other voices gives the character element that goes beyond her limitations. I'm more or less okay with it...as long as it works for the songs at hand right?

  • September 20th can't get here fast enough!
