Again, this was the year I turned 22 years. Although I don't like every single song that went to #1 (REO Speedwagon's "Can't Fight This Feeling" is a little cringe-worthy -- definitely unlike many of their earlier efforts, Phil Collins' "Sussudio" definitely rips-off the bass line from Prince's 1983 hit, "1999" and the fact that Madonna's "Material Girl" {#2}, Prince's "Raspberry Beret" {another #2} & Tears For Fears' "Head Over Heels" {I think
@TheWhatsinaname #3} didn't make it #1 sort of mars this year, slightly), I think this was the last year (must be because I was 21 going on 22 years old) that I totally understood why each of the tunes went to #1 -- even if I don't like all of them that did.
Excelente trabajo, algo parecido hice hace algunos años con los temas en mp3. Me interesaría saber que programa utilizaste para hacer esta compliacion.
Muy bueno. Felicitaciones desde Ushuaia, la ciudad más austral del mundo!
why is it that back in the 60s-80s songs stayed at number one for 4 weeks at the most while now and primarily in the 90s songs stayed at number 1 for much longer?
@lowaces Part of the problem with Phil Collins in this year of 1985 it was well-known that his #1 hit of the summer of that year, "Sussudio" was a definite rip-off of Prince's 1983 hit, "1999", as far as the bass riff.
it's absoluetly amazing how stevie wonder who had his first #1 in 1963 if you watch that video still has #1s 23 years later after so much as change and especially in this time. way to go stevie!
Another great vid, MGoddard of the #1's of a very memorable year. The year I turned 22 years old. This was definitely theight of the 1980's, 1985, that is. These vids have all the fashion and hairstyles (including the big hair) that we'd see throughout the rest of the decade. Does prove again that every #1, from 1984 onward, is now going to have a video to make it to #1. (Videos overwhelmed records in making or breaking a hit).

@tallcoolone09 Thank those of us who were of the age to make this music--we were the ones who made your youth so enjoyable.

Who can forget "I want to know what Love is" being played on Miami Vice? This song is simply beautiful and speaks for all.

1985 is the most exciting year of the 1980s. Many OST songs in that year. After 85, songs are not so exciting anymore.
