just got my finis competitor monofin. it just awesome. really love it and change my perspective of swimming. i prefer swim with monofin with arm in front. more easy for me to control my movement and streamline. zul-miri-malaysia. :-)
Hey man are the foot size specifications that Finis posted on their site accurate? I've read some reviews that state that you're better off buying a monofin that's a size bigger.
@opium1982 ...They are pretty accurate, though I had the Lucky moment when I was first introduced one a chance to test it to see if it fitted. I am a size 9 1/2 .
try calling those guys and ask for a quote based on your foot size because it is bad if you order the wrong size and it doesn't fit....a good monofin should fit your foot like a tight glove!...Blisters from occasional hard workouts are normal!
@sanddragon99 My dilemma is as follows, my foot size is11 1/2 but i can get a XXL competitor monofin for dirt cheap. The problem is that the XXL monofin is for sizes 12.5-16. Am i better of paying the full 300 for the XL or can i risk it and try to fit the XXL with some fin socks?
Funny you mention Fin socks...I use those to stop getting rashes and blisters... putting on fin socks are also a solution and was also offered by Finis...there are boot tips socks available for a swimmer whit large feet but shares it with others whose foot sizes are smaller... try to get your exact size and not get one that is too loose on your feet , nor too tight!
It is the Finis Competitor MonoFin and it cost about $300 dollars. I currentlly own 2 so I could invite a friend to spar in a race! You can order them online directlly from Finis on the Internet. I am also getting the Lunocet Monofin which is said to be much faster!
That Monofin is a very elegant way of swimming. And quick! Be careful though Victor, there are a lot of Freedivers who end up either dead or speaking like they've been taking hardcore drugs for ten years (slurred speech, disconnected thoughts). Take it slow my friend :-)

I can see that this is a competitor Monofin. (: Is it a hard blade?
iSpeakOrca 2 years ago
This is a flexible blade and I actually seem to be going faster and farther than the Lunocet model.
I love this flexible blade as it may compensate if I am too lazy to do a full monofin movement and just use my leg power to dig in.
I have not tried the Hyper fin but It might be even better than a Finis competitor, I am hoping to get on later.

Thanks, I have been free diving for years but I never thought about filming until now.
I already had a few close scraped so I know my limits! I don't go as deep because I hate cold water anyways!
My wet suit is inflexible and still leaks out my heat and one time I almost ruptured an eardrum while in the Bahamas!
I take the fin whenever I go on an Island sandcastle building job.
