  • "There's an old saying in Boston Romney — I know it's in Massachusetts, probably in Boston also - and you're full of it! ;-)

  • Ron Paul has the best ideas.. RON PAUL 2012!

  • no army navy or air force until then who gives a crap, give me my fourth amendment and end this fear monger bullcrap

  • I guess the right to die is a liberty worth dying over. If you really want to die that is.

  • Ron Paul is the only politician that I can trust (99.99%) on civil liberties and economic liberties.

  • we have the rights to life and liberty. AND LIBERTY!! life and liberty are not the same thing

  • Franklin must be rotating in his grave at with 300+ rpm...

  • jesus christ, and this asshole is the front runner in 2012. pray for ron paul.

  • Baed on your youtube name, I bet Ill hate the rest of your videos. But I couldnt help but agree with this one. I beleive Benjamin Franklin once said, "Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both"

  • that pesky Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness from the Declaration of Independence and promote general welfare and security from the Preamble of the Constitution always screws everything up

  • please tell me how can someone go into politics and not be in love or atleast have studied the great idealist wisdom of the founding fathers....

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

    -Benjamin Franklin

    Romney is such an asshat...

  • Okay, he made a mistake. He slipped up. Everyone does it. Nobody is perfect.

  • @hbsnowboard it wasn't an accident, its what he really believes

  • no they come from god

god told someone and he says there from god even though if they are taken away god wont do a dam thing to stop that from happening but they come from god that never said anything about it

  • Romney says "The most important civil liberty I expect from my Goverment"

That is the crux of his delusion. Civil liberties do not come from Gov't. Civil liberties are not given to us. They are inalienable.

I bet he is one of those simple minded idiots that thinks the bill of rights gives us our rights. LOL. Silly Romney trix are for kids.

  • I would say the exact opposite, Romney would love to convince the American people that the government does indeed give us our rights and he wouldn't have a hard time convincing most of the American people. The government giveth so that the government may taketh away.

  • bug your house representative about HR 1207

  • don't worry-Congress wont pass on a chance to increase their own power over the monetary supply.

That would strip banks of their right to control our currency, greatly diminishing corporate power over elections, then the whole big government-big business-media concentration axis of evil will collapse.

  • kauncha, I'm pretty sure the NSA already has them bugged.

  • also if you ask any second amendment supporter will tell you that the government has no duty to protect any individual. It only has the responsibility to the society at large.

  • Possibly my favorite quote of all time, "Anyone that trades liberty for security deserves neither liberty nor security." - Benjamin Franklin.

  • drummer703: because he doesn't value freedom. I value freedom over safety, as all Americans should. Did you not even see in the video that we believe in "Live free or die" ???

The government should not be wire-tapping people left and right. This is just another step toward fascism.

  • @ZombieRabite i agree.... there are some things that are worse than death...

  • This guy scares the fuck out of me, even slightly more than Guiliani or Hillary!

  • oh fuck and hes going to be vice pres too

  • Cheney part 2

  • Haven't any of our elected officials heard the phrase (and I am paraphrasing here) 'One who is willing to sacrifice liberty for safety loses both and deserves neither'? I'm sorry, but doesn't logic assert that the largest threat to anyone person is a group that can take away your freedom; a group that has a military, police force and other forms of physical power? Defending civil liberties is how you defend safety.

  • Sorry for the long comment, but I must make an addition to conclude.

Let logic guide your decision. You are far more likely to win an interstate lottery than to die in a terrorist attack. The number of people to be killed in terrorist attacks is far lower than people killed by authoritarian governments.

Fear is a real emotion; emotion is a crude, quick thing. Law should be based on cold, methodical logic. It's the only way to ensure fairness and it's the only way to ensure safety.

  • i would always choose more privacy and less security than vice versa

  • a fascist is a fascist is a .....

  • I heard the bullet whiz by my head the day this guy dropped out of the race.

  • Romney is an idiot. He's contradicting one of the greatest American quotes. "Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death"

  • By all means a noble quote and one that i agree with. What we can't forget is that it was said by slave owners who wanted to be free.

  • Definitely and many slaves did die trying to reach the North.

  • lol this made me laugh. they're saying that they want to keep us alive as an excuse to fight terrorism, but whenever we ask them to keep us alive through social health care republicans freak out and say the government isn't supposed to take care of you from cradle to grave. they're willing to spend the money fighting an invisible enemy, but not willing to spend it on their very real constituents.

  • the aclu is in court to get sex change opperations for inmates and got them hormone treatments now with your money.

  • mike1111qq,

Actually, if u mean the ACLU of Wisconsin case in Sundstrom v. Frank, the inmates were already getting hormones when the state passed a law targeting them and cutting off treatment even though medical experts agreed that blocking people from access to hormone treatment after they have been on the treatment is especially dangerous and could cause life-threatening damage. See

    tinyurl(.)com/yucv3q

take parentheses out of that web address

    I hope that helps and

    thx 4 commenting :-)

  • and thay are fighting in court right now for the freak in mass..

  • mike1111qq,

I don't think namecalling is necessary and I don't think the ACLU of Massachusetts is involved in such a case. You also did not address the expert medical testimony I pointed out in Sundstrom v. Frank. Aren't you interested in getting the truth to correct your misinformation?

    Thx 4 commenting :-)

  • how much did you and me pay for the experts.. and yes the ACLU is behind it. i dont care about them at all and dont want my money going for prisoners stupid shit ... jail is supposed to be unpleasent as hell.. that is the point of it..

  • O ya and i am a very politicley uncorect name caller its my right for now until the ACLU sues me.. because liberty has nothing to do with LIBERALS all thay want to do is tke liberty from you. gun laws smoking bans and taking your money to give away to IDIOT FREAKS IN JAIL..

  • mike1111qq ,

You provide no evidence to support your claims about the ACLU and I already pointed out your errors. You also are not using the word "LIBERAL" correctly. As u can see at a link on my YT profile to DOZENS of dictionaries, the word "LIBERAL" means:

    a person favoring progress, reform, protection of civil liberties, and more laissez-faire economics;

someone broadminded, tolerant of change, not bound by authoritarianism, orthodoxy, or tradition

    Hope that helps and

    thx 4 comments :-)

  • REFORM and progress ..no thanks ... thats what hitler did or did you think all the people cheering him in the old news clips were forced to be there??

  • mike1111qq,

If u missed it, the definition continues past "REFORM and progress" adding several elements that differentiate a "LIBERAL" from "hitler" (eg "protection of civil liberties" and "not bound by authoritarianism"). Again, the word "LIBERAL" means:

    a person favoring progress, reform, protection of civil liberties, and more laissez-faire economics;

someone broadminded, tolerant of change, not bound by authoritarianism, orthodoxy, or tradition

    Hope that helps and

    thx 4 comments :-)

  • any government (or Romney) who would give up our liberties to gain a little security would deserve neither and lose both. i'm glad romney's gone and i hope he never comes back

  • You forgot to list the founding father who originally said that.

    Benjamin Franklin

{.S. It may have been someone else, but it's most associated with him online.

  • "Give me liberty or give me death" was Patrick Henry, I think. Romney definitely knows what civil liberties are - he's a smart guy. He was dumbing things down for people making an argument he doesn't truly believe. Or maybe he does. But I do think he does actually know, so the first question is null.

  • "Live in tyranny and live"

  • Oh ya, this is the guy who posts videos all day. no job. I suspect this guy is at a government subsidised university. You are a kook. I certainly hope that you have not procreated and infected the earth.

  • Why anyone would actually trust Romney (or Guiliani, for that matter) with being the leader of the free world is totally beyond me.

  • He's a NeoCon Prick!

  • please pass this message arround

fox news has killed our demoncracy

"boycott fox news on July 4th 2008"

this will be a national movement that starts here.

  • Boycott Fox News ALL of the time.

    You won't miss anything.

  • be sure to go to fastcheck(dot)org and see which candidates are consistently caught either lying, exaggerating, or misrepresenting themselves. you can do a search by candidate. i went through the entire database. the results were not surprising. see for youself and then decide who you'd want in the white house.

  • If the election was for youtube voters only, Ron Paul would win, but since it is the whole country, many of whom take more consideration than the utube crowd he wont win.

Somebody tell me why if Ron Paul si so good, he is behind 5 GOP candidates?

  • Nice clip. Beleive me, I wish we had several viable candidates to choose from. Thank God we have at least one. Ron Paul!!!

  • I hate the word, "misstatement", or when someone says, "I misspoke" (like after their purgery is found out). There is no such thing. It's called either being wrong, or, more commonly, simply lying.

  • Obama is fooling alot of people, like Bush in 2000. Ron Paul is the only candidate who speaks the truth.. He is the only candidate who wants to get rid of the illegal federal reserve which has been raping people since 1913. Average savings for americans is minus 2%!!! That means the fed res and the world bankers have all the money! They have effectively raped the american people and raped most of the citizens of this world. Elect Paul to finally stop these criminals

  • Ron Paul has no hope of winning a national election, folks.

  • Useless site. There is nothing of substance being posted here, just a bunch of bigotry about Mormons.

  • BS ass hole.

  • "Any Society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security deserve neither and lose both." ~Benjamin Franklin

But hey what does that guy know, right....

  • If there were terrorists using a church to hide behind I'd see no problem in using wiretapping to stop them. Protecting civil liberties is great and all but if you get blown up for them then it's the terrorists who actually win. As for the terroists remember this, when we capture them they don't become pow's. Their terrorists thus they have no rights.

  • No, you are wrong:

    1. If the terrorists attack us, because we are rich and free, the terrorists have won, when we loose our freedom.

    2. Read the Geneva convention! It has two parts. One protects military personal and the 2nd protects civilians (criminal or not). Nobody is outside of those categories.

  • This guy is a tool.

  • While trying to defend his weirdness over MLK a couple of days ago, Mitt Romney made it worse by saying this:

He added, "You know, I'm an English literature major as well. When we say, 'I saw the Patriots win the World Series, it doesn't necessarily mean you were there — excuse me, the Super Bowl..."

    What a putz!

  • soon they will plant listening devices in retail under ware.

  • A fine example of someone hearing what they want to hear so they can say what they want to say.

  • I bet the the Pubs will either put up Guliani and Romney or Huckabee and Romney, and since thePubs have no chance whatsoever of winning in '08, they'll have to do like George Bush and steal '08.

    Expect them to try it.

  • look out for the october surprise- a terrorist attack, emergency powers, gays getting married- whatever gets a rupublican electorate out to vote

  • no he wont ...he will however repeal the law that makes it illegal to have more then one wife so he can quit calling his third wife his neighbor and his secondwife can stop telling people she is his cousin.

  • also he will use IRS files to see who is in debt...pull federal funding and raise taxes for the area till the LDS can buy it up.Hey We got a Jewish State we fund billions of dollars too ..why not a Mormon state!!! power to the Religions!

  • That is funny. You're trying to be funny, right?

  • From what I've seen of Romney I don't know how anyone could vote for the guy. He seems so hokey and looks like a "politics as usual" candidate who tries to make up for a lack of substance with cheap rhetoric.

  • you shouldnt vote for anyone based on what they look like or how they say things, you should focus on the issues. (that is one reason I hate "political commentators"- they focus on hillary's cackle, Dean's scream, or fred thompson's "energy" instead of focusing and debating the candidates policies.)

  • or that obama is black and hillary a woman....romeny a mormon.....etc etc

    who loves god more.......etc etc....

  • yes, exactly. I am much more interested in thier policies, but they play the media's game and never raise the intellectual discussion. That is one reason I am voting for Paul, because he actually debates the issues, but I am very interested in the democratic candidates. They are so smart but they appear so stupid

  • Pre-911, could the gov guarentee you life? Hell no. And they won't ever be able to. Bad people exist and they will do bad things. Founders knew this, people for the past 200 years knew this, why is it we suddenly feel we must be protected from violent death "at any cost?"

The whole idea of the Constitution was a balance of maximum protection vs maximum liberty. You can't have 100% of either, no matter how much you sacrifice the other.

  • yeah, jonny, that's it. i just like explosions.

maybe it's you who doesn't think enough for your self that you need to watch some dolt's poorly put together program pointing out obvious points.

so yes, it's boring for anyone who has half a brain. i guess that doesn't include you jonny

  • To answer your first question. anyone who spits on our civil liberties should not deserve to run for office, as to why this is allowed is beyond me. Nothing more than a traitor.

  • does liberal viewer know what "boring as hell" means??

no...appearantly, not, because he just keeps going, in that monotone, and very effeminate voice.

    LAME

  • LOL figures that you would consider such things boring and lame hahahaha. thats probably why you dont know anything. if it doesnt have a shallow shouting match or explosions or something, you lose focus hahaha.

  • werunfromcops. not have enough shallow shouting matches for you? not enough gunfire and explosions? i guess you lose focus unless your brain is constantly stimulated hahahaha. probably why you dont know much.

  • you are so wrong, you're one of those

people who would like to give a drivers

license to an illegal alien, instead

of packing off to their country!

  • way to make an assumption there iloveparee. if you dont like illegal aliens, maybe you should tell your neocon buddies to punish the corporations that hire them? if they cant get a job, they wouldnt WANT to come here. not their fault they want a better life. you would do it too.

  • Well, that is one part of the problem (on our side of the border, obviously).

The other is of course to get the Mexican government (which has one of the longest history of corruption of a number of democratic nations) involved on their side of the border to create more jobs for Mexicans.

  • Well done, that "Double Guantanamo" quote always kills me...how the f&^* does he lead in polls...

  • Romney is nuts!!!

  • Niiiiice work. Romney is dangerous and this explains why.

  • Its also in the constitution that we have right the pursuit of happiness. Is the government supposed to keep us entertained? Romney makes no sense at all.

  • The right to be 'kept alive' is a civil liberty? Romney has really got Mitt (Shit) for Brains. Is the govt. really keeping us alive? I would rather be kept free than be kept alive in a concentration camp. Vote Dennis Kucinich.

  • Wow, nice video. This candidate scares me. He's the type of self-righteous bastard who could look me in the eyes and talk to me about protecting liberty, in between electric shocks.

Personally, I'm a Ron Paul supporter but I believe everyone needs to make up their own minds. For all you Romney supporters out there, I'd just ask that you think long and hard about someone who is willing to tamper with our civil liberties, even in the name of trying to protect us.

  • i like to be alive too but with rights, remeber give me death or give me liberty

  • romny is simply not fit for the presidency. he doesn't know what civil liberties are (and probably doesn't even care) and when asked wheather he'd need the authority of congress to go to war he said "i'd have to check with some lawyers". the guy is a joke! i know he has support because some people want to be represented by a guy with "values", but is he really worth the risk???

  • Anyone with half a brain knows what Romney was saying.

  • Hmm, cuz the Feds really kept us safe on 9/11.

Thank you, I'll do just fine keeping myself safe without your facist Federales keeping watch over me, Mutt.

  • My name's Dan so I will call myself Dan Webster. Your definition is wrong, but anyway 5/5 and Favorited.

  • goddamn... I regretting ever giving those mother fuckers my address... that was a whole month of pure hell... HELL!

Christians believe in a hell because their evangelists invented it... AHH STAY AWAY!!!!

  • I do like Mitt Romney, but that is a little scary! But it's not only Mitt. What about all the liberals? Civil Liberties! Whatever happened to them? Seriously. Government shouldn't be involved in our lives. The governments job is to make "certain" laws and regulations that do not infringe upon our rights, but keep us safe and to enforce those laws. I am sick of the government getting so involved in our lives. Check out my videos!!! Just click on my name!!

  • right on! Ron Paul is one cool old ass mofo.

I have a history of HATING republicans... but I am not biased enough to let my hate for Republicans let me not see the awesomecore power of freakin ron paul...

I like Dennis Kucinich also but something tells me to go with Paul this time

  • Your support of Ron Paul shows just how much of a lame brain you are. The problem with Paul is not so much him, as it is all of the wacko, extremist, constantly angry, nutjobs he has for supporters.

  • well its the "wacko, extremist, constantly angry, nutjobs" that actually give a shit about the country.

you hosers2 probably love facism and wire taps. and having no freedom.

ron paul whether you like it or not, is one if not the best option for this country.

but you know what, while the country is still free, youre still intitled to be an idiot.

  • And I'll fight for it, just like you. However, I have no problem with rooting out terrorist in this country before they act. I have nothing to hide from Homeland Security. Apparently you do?

  • i like privacy.

and were more at risk for attack now then before 9/11 because were policing the world.

do you like the fact that people hate our country? because in the scope of things, were the dickheads that go around fucking everything up.

  • I think it is more envy than hate.

  • they envy our iron fist over the world?

    very creative

  • If you have ever lived out of the country, you would know what I mean.

  • "Any people that would give up liberty for a little temporary safety deserves neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin

  • "Aren't there some civil liberties worth dying for?" you ask. Sure there are. However, I would much rather root out the terrorists before they have succeeded in their attacks. How else, but to monitor activities of suspected terrorists before?

  • Civil Liberties aren't worth much if you are dead. We all have a right to live and be free. And I will die protecting that right for my family, neighbors and friends, and yes, even Hillary, Paul, and the rest of wet your pants liberals.

  • Well to some extent... yes it is nice to be alive but the point of that video was to show a candidates ignorance about what civil liberties are

"Any people that would give up liberty for a little temporary safety deserves neither liberty nor safety." - Benjamin Franklin

  • One reason the "terrorists" dont like us in the first place is not that we are free but because our foreign policy is intrusive and disrespectful towards the sovereignity of other nations and cultures...

apparently you havent looked at the Bin Laden side of the issue nor have you ever really taken the time to listen to any voice other than the main stream media... and that is why youre a typical ignorant American...

  • If we closed the borders and brought our troops home from more than 125 countries they occupy to defend THIS nation first; we wouldn't need Homeland Security, The Patriot Act, or, any other BS unconstitutional laws. People would not FUCK with us period!

  • F%@K Off and die MUTT!

  • Most Excellent tube...Mitt is as Dumb as GWB.

  • Mitt Romney followers, among the finest of America's People, are being welcomed with open arms into Ron Paul's vast and growing rebel army.

  • what are you trying to say? I like Ron Paul but any one silly enough to fall for this republican bullshit is probably not going to join Paul's campaign with out a lot of re-learning about REALITY

  • His name is "Mitt"?? lol

  • Romney is a putz

  • Also, I bet if LiberalViewer really had to choose between his right to privacy and his right to life... he'd waffle. It's easy to talk about liberty and life conceptually or hypothetically. It's far more difficult to choose your unnamed "liberty" vs. your right to live when you really are forced to make that choice. Worry not, the people you criticize will make sure you don't have to be put in that situation. The short-sighted bastards.

  • living proof that intro philosophy students do learn something...namely, how to bandy about hypotheticals as if they constituted a sufficient reason for going to war and curtailing the only decent rights americans have.

  • bamock: Your posts here are exactly right. LiberalViewer is talking semantics. We all know what Romney was saying and you have pointed out the falacies of a nitpicker. Romney is rock solid for portecting America from terrorists.

  • Also, while I've noticed that LiberalViewer is apparently an attorney, he's guilty of begging the question when he uses a quote re: Gitmo as proof that Romney is not much a civil libertarian. The assumption he expects viewers to make is that anyone who wants to expend Gitmo must necessarily be an opponent of civil liberties. Begging the question LiberalViewer, shame on you.

  • Lastly, although I am sure that LiberalViewer is one of the enlightened few who can truly differentiate between a "liberty worth dying for" and "life itself," he makes no attempt at defending what liberty would be lost in a wiretap on a church or mosque that would be worth dying for. I would assume he means privacy. Of course, making an argument as to why its worth dying for is absent.

  • And, although I know it's not a very important document, in our Declaration of Independence the founders of our country and many of the writers of our constitution agreed that we should promise Americans life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. Debating semantics is a good time, really it is, but the fact is that securing life is one of the government's most important jobs. To argue otherwise is silly.

  • Next, one of the primary functions of the government, some would argue its only real purpose, is to provide for the defense of its people. Thwarting major terrorist attacks is a responsibility the government has. Unless wiretapping a church or mosque is unwarranted, you have no case.

  • These definitions are from Princeton's Wordnet dictionary. Last I checked, dead people don't exercise rights. Second, civil liberties exist to protect us from "unwarranted governmental interference." If wiretapping a mosque or church results in thwarting a major terrorist attack that will 1) kill thousands of Americans, 2) have a major impact on our economy and 3) boost the impact terrorism has on our society... isn't it "warranted?"

  • # S: (n) civil liberty, political liberty (one's freedom to exercise one's rights as guaranteed under the laws of the country)

    # S: (n) civil liberty (fundamental individual right protected by law and expressed as immunity from unwarranted governmental interference)

  • I think that this video is by far your most important. The solution to terrorism is to show the terrorists that no matter what they do to us we will not fall to them. We need to show them that we too are willing to die for a cause. I would rather die than live to see America fall to tyranny. By violating our civil liberties the government is doing exactly what the terrorists want; for them to controls our lives.

  • The main purpose of the US government is to protect its citizens. It is not the purpose of Gov to offer free health care, retirement, subsidize farms, airlines and other industries. Take from one and give to the community is not the governments job, getting rid of public enemies is.

  • This video is perhaps the most ridiculous argument I've heard regarding civil liberties. What good are liberties if your dead. The point is, yes there are liberties worth dying for. But it should be your choice to die for them, not the choice of the jihadists. Romney's reply is spot on. Whatever it takes to protect Americans must be done. If jihadists are hiding in churches, then you go into the churches. There's no "king's X" where jihadists get to claim, "no fair coming in here."

  • Fairfacts,

U call my video "ridiculous," but never show how any of the arguments I make are "ridiculous." Are u claiming I was "ridiculous" to point out Romney's misuse of the term "civil liberty?" And, why is it "ridiculous" to fault Romney for claiming being kept alive is more important than any civil liberty when u admit yourself that "there are liberties worth dying for?" And how is it "your choice" when the gov takes away civil liberties?

    Thx 4 comments :-)

  • First of all, the right to be alive is a civil liberty. That goes without saying, however, I believe you want me to say it. What I meant by "your choice" is this. There are liberties that we are willing to give our lives for. That is our choice. But when a jihadist tries to murder us, that is not our choice. I simply disagree with you that Romney misused the term "civil liberty." I believe that term encompasses "life."

  • Fairfacts,

It's okay to "simply disagree," but u are not fairly quoting the facts. First, he did NOT say "life" is a "civil liberty." He said:

"The MOST IMPORTANT civil liberty I expect from my government is my right to be kept alive."

And, remember, a "civil liberty" is defined as a:

"freedom from arbitrary GOVERNMENTAL interference (as with the right of free speech) specifically by denial of GOVERNMENTAL power..."

    Thx 4 comment :-)

  • lol. come on man you are a sucker for the man and his jihadists

  • Fairfacts, if you want the government to do constant surveillance on you to keep you alive, so be it. Just keep it to yourself. I choose civil liberties first. Keep your support of unconstitutional laws to yourself. "Give me liberty or give me death!" Have you lost touch with what this country was founded on?

  • If we were putting Americans in Getmo, it would be out of touch. We are talking about terriorists. Also terriorists who are known to be plotting against us can not hide in a church.

Trust me the founders would have had no problem going after national enimies in a church.

  • this guy is weird... i'm kinda scared with bush in the white house... but if that guy gets in there... i'll hide under the earth the next 4 years...

  • this guy is a joke.

  • this guy is a big joke of a man but none of us are laughing are we?

  • Big suprise...Romney is a moron. Wow I'm shocked.

  • For a moron, Romney has done quite well for himself. He's graduated with top honors, become a mulitmillionaire, donates his salary as governor and CEO of the Olympics to charity, and saves numerous businesses, and has a wonderful family. We should all be so lucky to be morons like this.

  • Thank you for a thoughtful video.

  • Civil liberties didn't leave Romney, Mitt left civil libererties.

Not to mention leaving the truth, principles, or any decency for his opportunist demeanor.

  • They're politicians, nothing new, except Ron Paul!!

  • Do you really like ron paul?

  • BTW, for all the Mittwitts out there trying to portray Mittney as anti-Iran-

Romney, who holds assets worth between $190 million to 250 million also invests in casino operators, an oil company that does business with Iran, and a firm with cash linked to the genocidal Sudanese government.[Boston Herald 8/16/07]

  • Usually when people expect their government to keep them alive, they end up dead. Of course, who will keep us safe FROM our government? Mitt here forgets so easily that most of us don't trust our government. He seems to think we all love him and Bush and Ted Kennedy. This guy is even more sheltered than Dubya. LV, someone running for President, should be in touch with reality, and know what civil liberties are.

  • Yeah, republican here... I agree with you but I think your video is kinda like shooting a fish in a barrel. Just sorta Overkill

  • Republicans don't even like this guy. He is too much of a robot. Maybe the smartest on either side, but you don't know how he truly feels. I think it is going to be Guiliani/McCain vs. Hillary/(low tear canidate)...I think the R will prevail at the end. They always do because they have smarter and sharper people backing them.

  • Civil "rights" are not the same thing as inalienable rights. Civil "rights" are contractual privileges you receive when you surrender your sovereignty to become a United States "citizen" (14th amendment corporate franchisee).

  • Is incredible how some people cant even stand up to the truth, the fact is romney does not know what civil liberties are.

Thats the all point of the video.

Romney knows people dont like to see their liberties destroyed and thats why he gave this BS answer. This just ilustrates a guy that will say anything in order to get elected.

  • kulgan18, Hillary Clinton said " I think it's time to send a clear message to what has become the most profitable sector in the entire economy that they are being watched" I wonder who's civil liberties she referred to in that threatening statement. She's running for prez too.Scary?

  • I'm definitely not voting for Romney.

  • Thanks, Liberalviewer, for showing the hypocrisy in Republican candidates.

  • If a terror attack is being planned in a Mosque in Pennsylvania isn't it the government's job to protect us even using wiretaps? If I cannot by law protect myself in such a case would the gov't need consult Merriam's dictionary to protect me if the President thought that my protection was a civil liberty?

  • (2.) I know I am uneducated but dying for my country I would do. But for lack of simple preventative protection? I guess I am too stupid to understand.

  • Ben Franklin put it this way: "Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both."

Government has to be kept in check, else it will devolve into authoritarianism, and under authoritarianism, citizens will have neither liberty nor security. All will live in fear.

  • If the government is merely "afraid" a mosque might be planning terrorism, it's not good enough. There should be probable cause and the rule of law, checks and balances. Without those things the government can run right over anyone that voices dissent, and we can kiss democracy goodbye.

Wholesale spying on millions of people to catch two or three criminals is not a good trade-off.

There is not one thing that you have said that I can find fault with here.Nothing.

Regarding the middle east,I hope that they change ,sort of like the Japanese did after WWII.I would never expect a drastic change. You're right though.Military occupation won't work long term.

  • Urgelt,

  • (2.) On the main line in Phila there is a large property,an islamic center set far back from the road with a long high wall and a sign posted "no trespassing". It gives me that "feeling",very creepy. How does one seek probable cause to take a look around?

  • I get the same feeling walking past a Masonic Lodge! Who knows what crazy rituals are going on in there?

Well, my grandfather knew. I still have his Masonic ring.

  • Let's be honest here. Crime can be punished. It can't be prevented - unless we accept horrible and draconian state powers over all of us.

Don't let fear make you embrace authoritarianism.

Most Muslims in America are good citizens - like most Blacks, most Asians, most everyone. Presume innocence, punish the guilty - and remember, no-one is guilty *before* they've committed a crime.

  • "Don't let fear make you embrace authoritarianism." Excellent comment! Power should be dispersed as it is now in the US I believe. If a group is talking terrorism, war, anti-social rhetoric and making threats then let us investigate, interrogate or even have congressional hearings. Whatever it takes to make sure they are not following through on the threats they promise.

  • Good idea. Now who in the f&%* is suppose to be watching Bush and his paid Blackwater killers?

  • I relate. My father, brother and grandfather were/are all masons. Knew alot of them growing up. Never knew of one blowing up a bus or a coffee shop. Different animal all together.
