@vintagemoth-Nothing special... I wash it more regularly with whatever shampoo I'm using. For times of flaky scalp, I do exfoliate my scalp with a brown sugar, extra virgin coconut oil, honey and hair conditioner mix. Just rub the creamy mix to your scalp in a circular motion, rinse and wash per usual. Your scalp will be able to breathe and probably not itch anymore. I regularly exfoliate my skin everywhere else... my scalp was the next logical step! It works great...do try it! Write back, ok?
@empressnevaeh - I believe my SL Consultant has told me that I have the "standard" size with smaller ones around the edges...but I think that's all considered the "standard size" and approach to Sisterlocks installation for increased stylability.
Sorry, I can't be more specific :-{ Thx for the compliment, though!
ok so yours are beautiful, and i want mine to be just like that. but how often do i maintain them. p.s. dont have them yet. still waitin. but can you give some info on how to keep them up, neat, and smellin good.
shauntaMae, once you get your Sisterlocks you will keep them up by being compliant with your SL Consultants directions for newly installed SLs; you wll keep them neat by recognizing that SLs are low maintenance NOT NO MAINTENANCE; your SLs will smell good because you wash them regularly and allow them to fully air-dry. Keep in touch!!
phylliewilly - my hair was thin and fine with perm on the ends. I started my SLs with 2 inches of virgin new growth. The new growth is the only part your SL Consultant is going to do the SL install on. All SLs start off pretty skinny and thin looking. Then as they mature, they thicken.
@TheDelo20 - Right, you NEED a minimum of 2 inches of virgin hair. SL consultants don't SL the permed end portion. My install took 26 hours (Fri. & Sat.) but only because my SL consultant was brand new in the business of SL and still worked a full-time job that she hated at the time. I'm still a client of my original SL consultant who was a trainee back in 2005. Today, she is installing SLs fulltime; is a business owner of several SL salons; is trainer; and mentor to other SL trainees.
They are great, so you braided them and then took them out to create that crinkled effect? Also, i want to get mine done very soon but my hair is quite thin, was your hair thick or thin beforehand?
Great video! I've been locked for 19 months now and I love it! My hair is very thick and shoulder length. Cant wait till it gets to the middle of my back. I will NEVER do the creamy crack again!
Your sister locks are beautiful... I want to get them myself.... not sure how to get it going... If you have any info can you please share it with me...
