  • well that was disturbing x

  • 1:55-2:20 is absolutely awesome, I have always loved that part with the blaring bass guitar matching Corgan's vocals, Smashing Pumpkins are so fucking innovative!

  • DIZROKS!!!!! SAW THEM AT LOLLAPALOOZA IN '94 IN UPSTATE NEW YORK. WAS RIGHT AT THE STAGE BUT OFF TO THE LEFT RIGHT NEXT TO THE SPEAKA. THEY STILL ROCK!!!

  • DIZROKS!!!!!

  • 90's WILL EVER BE THE BEST

  • FUCK this song is sick.. the guitar is amazing

  • this song embodies siva cause it makes u wanna dance and destroy

  • Two words....Butch. Vig. Production is AT LEAST half the talent you perceive here.

  • What a band ! Can someone please post "Hummer" can't find it and it is one of my favourite songs

  • There were some truly amazing bands in the 90's, and it's extremely tough to be the best out of all of them, however, in my opinion The Smashing Pumpkins are the best.

  • Funny thing is, alot of people who actually say they "love" this band, but never even heard gish...?? Myself, I'd be fine if this was all they ever did...I think this is one 40 year olds favorite album in this genre bar none! Damn it kicks ass....

  • The year in 2005, I'm in my mom's basement and I'm smoking majestic mountains of weed and salvia, munching down magic mushrooms, and washing it all down with Maximum Ice beer. I'm with my sketchy friends. The Smashing Pumpkins Video Collection is what's on the television.

  • Never has a band had such a downward slope for a career. Their first LP was an absolute masterpiece and each one since has been a little bit worse. The next one will be completely unlistenable.

  • @SPICESMUGGLER71 I completely agree. Gish is a masterpiece, then Siamese Dream tried to get a bit more mainstream, but was a decent follow-up, then Mellon Collie was about 40% filler, then I gave up.

  • @Nintendorks12345 You make absolutely no sense.

  • @quantibulousDEW It's called opinion. If it doesn't meet yours, fuck off.

  • @SPICESMUGGLER71 I feel bad for you. I've enjoyed the hell out of all of the Pumpkin's works. Even their most recent album is friggin' amazing stuff.

  • anyone worried about the "radiation" supposedly hitting California chant Siva's name. throughout history, chanting the name "SIVA" has the effect of actually RE-ARRANGING the molecules around you. for example, a devotee was driving on ice and started sliding uncontrollably to doom and chanted SIVA and it was as if an angel picked up his car and moved it 50 yards down the road.

Miracles happen while chanting this name.

  • This music is still relevant today. That's how you know shit is genius. When I can listen to it 22 years later and it's still fresh.

  • Great to hear them again! Thanks for posting! I used to listen to them, on tape!.)

  • This video is so goddamn weird visually, eery even, almost out of context which makes it even cooler to me...

  • don't want to live in your misery

  • Right amount of fuzz.

  • Ode de Pumps!

  • 30 people need to get a f--- life.

  • Hahaha They were on so much L.S.D. back in the day.

  • Seriously, how can you 'dislike' this?

  • This album had a lot of similarities to Jane's Addictions' "Nothing's Shocking" BOTH GREAT RECORDS FROM BEGINNING TO END!! (As is Nevermind)

  • now Billy looks funny with hair - :D

  • I saw them on the 'Butterfly Wings...' tour and they pulled this out of the hat. fucking awesome live. 'Garbage' opened. Anyone else old as me and saw that tour????

  • @Alwaystuned totally saw them in Champaign IL

  • @BiggJake76 Nice. It was a great tour in a great decade.

  • @Alwaystuned totally saw them in Champaign IL. 95? I believe. Killer show. finished with a 45 minute version of Porcelina of the Vast Ocean

  • Smashing Pumpkins+Sonic Youth=MAGIC

  • for you younguns, SP opened the night before many '89 Lollapaloozas in local clubs, where Perry Farrell, Dave Navaro, Siouxie Sioux, Trent Reznor all came to a smalllocal bar to see them play. That ismyu best memory of SP

  • fuk yeah...no better feedback, pink and blue, destroy you while rockin an [8] band since the 60's...i miss the hell out of the band that made this sound, because they never materialized again, despite some folks sporting this name....

  • Back when D'Arcy was hot.

  • Hells yes.

  • the 90s fucking rocked

  • @tzDub92 Hell yeah they did... Smashing Pumpkins, Faith No More, Jane' Addiction, Rage Against the Machine, TOOL, No Doubt, Alice in Chains, Fuel, Sublime, White Zombie, Days of the New, Red Hot Chili Peppers, STP, Nirvana, Filter, Temple of the Dog, Beck, Mad Season, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Blind Melon, Oasis, and on and on and on.............

  • Man, that guitar riff kicks ass!

  • When I dyed my hair blond (to be like D'arcy) I immediately went home and laid in my bathtub just like in the video.

  • so pure xD this is reallllllllly gooooood xD xD

  • being the first pumpkins video i ever saw, this one was always my favorite. its creativity blows me away and how well the song is composed. it's perfect.

  • I honestly believe that gish was a great album.

  • @BlackTeddies - It was the best album they made.

  • Gratest Band of the last 20 years

  • Back in the days when Bolly was a genius looking like Jim Morrison and sounding like a proggy seventies hard rock hero... and when I was just born in fuckin' jerkwater suabia :(

  • This is the song that introduced me to the SP and my favorite!

  • This is the song that introduced me to the SP and my favorite!

  • don't people get this is better and more heartfelt than nirvana.

  • @badjman84 no

  • @badjman84 you're a little off.

  • the 28 Bieber fans who voted down. Go kill yourselves.

  • Since the early days Corgan and the gang show us their talent.

  • Thumbs up if you have thumbs!

  • I do not see how this didn't get as famous as 'Smells like Teen Spirit' by Nirvana. THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER!

  • @TheSPumpkin100 Agreed

  • @TheSPumpkin100 but its way less poppy.

  • Good Music often is, more obscure, and overlooked, and thats a good thing, too much of a trend, and lame people begin to know about it, it gets uncool. Same can be said for Jane's Addiction. But Nirvana was brilliant, and I consider them on par with smashing pumpkins, influence, and creativity wise. Nirvana gets blamed for stealing a lot of peoples thunder. Same Era, both brilliant, I owned bleach and gish when they came out. Some found out later.. Damn Good RocK and ROLL this!

  • @TheSPumpkin100 Smells is catchier! and you can't qualify music as better or worse it's art you like it, someone hates it and "vice versa"!

Yet the Smashing Pumpkins and Pixies were the inspiration for Nirvana (True Story)

as they were the great promoters of Grunge!

    sorry bout my english

    Thanks

  • @TheSPumpkin100 since when does famous=better? if that was true we wouldn't be listening to lady gaga and justin bieber's crap... this song rocks btw

  • @MaoriRock Agreed. I concur, good sir.

  • @TheSPumpkin100

for sure, this very different but not much better...

  • @TheSPumpkin100 Yeah i mean lets not go nuts... Teen spirit was pretty good

  • @InflatableAlien Meh, It was alright, highly overrated.

  • @TheSPumpkin100 Smashing pumpkins are extremely amazing but not as talented as nirvana

  • @mikebonavia Yeah they're not. They're more so.

  • @TheSPumpkin100 I saw both bands live. 'Smashing Pumpkins' were definitely better. And yes, this is a better/smarter song than '...Teen Spirit' and did'nt sell 1/2 as much. It puzzles me.

  • @TheSPumpkin100 the 90's were so stripped down. maybe people disliked the solos. i personally prefer the pumpkins, but nirvana had that punk rock appeal

  • @dharmapunkchick Obviously who's better is all part of personal taste, and while I'm a big Nirvana fan, I prefer the Pumpkins because they were far more creative than Nirvana ever were.

  • @TheSPumpkin100 You answered your own question.

  • @TheSPumpkin100

I agree. You can actually understand the lyrics in this song too.

  • @TheSPumpkin100

I agree. You can actually understand the lyrics in this song too. I honestly don't really like 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' that much. I don't understand how everybody says it's so catchy. It's not catchy at all to me.

  • eargasm 0:37-0:53

  • I like Billy Corgan's pose from the 3:10 to 3:40 mark. He looks like a mixture of Jim Morrison, Natalie Merchant, and Ian Astbury from the Cult. :D

  • From the only Smashing Pumpkins album that ever mattered.

  • @nevcore DITTO!

  • GRUNGE GRUNGE GRUNGE <3

  • Acid.

  • QUIERO QUE ME CACHE POR EL CULO...CORGAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNN.

  • YEAH!

  • Very atmospheric, profound video. Powerful song too - lest we forget!!

  • one of my top pumpkins songs.

I miss these pumpkins.. not the new shit. I really liked billy with this hair.

  • holy crap he has hair!!!!!! he looks better with it XD

  • i cant beleive that pumpkins and sonic youth arn't considered grunge. probly cause they ain't from seattle. I don't like that term anyway

  • @llamasarus1

I always thought that TSP fit more into alternative rock and shoegaze.

    Amirite ? : F

  • @WhiteDeVil3 Shoegaze is another mysterious genre cause the only accessible shoegaze band is my bloody valentine and they aren't even that accessable ( at least at the place were i get my cd's) but ive always been interested in its sound. i never would have thought smashing pumpkins a shoegaze band. first of all. what elements make up a shoegaze song?

  • @llamasarus1 You need WALLS of sound. Vocals that almost camoflague or blend in with the music. And the music puts you in a trance. Check out Slowdive, Lush, Chapterhouse, Moose, Blind Mr. Jones, The Swirlies. HUM's song "Little Dipper" is almost Shoegaze.

  • @llamasarus1 Basically what DX4LIFFE said, a "sound wall" made of guitar sound, and vocals that seem very smooth and blend with the music.

The term comes from all effects used to acquire these two characteristics.

Effects layin there near your feet, so you gaze at your shoes whenever you switch something.

  • ^But in his bald glory in zero when he licks out his tongue and is looking right at you...oh my god fucking hot.

  • this is smashing pumpkins, not like their newest album

  • 27 PEOPLE JIZZED ON THE "DISLIKE" BUTTON!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • wat a songh

  • @adicolor3 dude you are so right. I didn't live in the ninties. Being born in '98. But i've listen to enough bands from that time that bands from the 2000's don't have a clue. I can only think of one other band that gets the points that's from the 2000's and that's breaking benjamin

  • agree with mmm9

  • that was the real sp

  • Damn...this brings back memories...early nineties...going out saturday nights to SOMA and enjoying great live music.

  • Omg I love smashing pumpkins!!

  • press dislike if you are a hippie

  • Whoever disliked this...you don't appreciate decent music from a band that (amongst others) defined an era and a genre in music...you dislikers suck ass!

  • This was the first song to turn me on to The Magic of Rock. Haven't heard it in years.

    A stonker.

  • Billy once had hair.

  • proto-pumpkins grunge. radical talent.

  • Looking back, Gish is probably their best album. It really defined their sound for the next couple albums and every song on this album is tolerable and/or AMAZING!

  • God, we were spoiled in the 90s with great music. I could see live, The The, Smashing Pumpkins, the Cure, the Cranes, Jane's Addiction, Lush, NIN multiple times, etc., etc. and thought it was never going to end...

... and it has ended. What do people actually spend money to see nowadays? It's a desert.

  • @Tothe2012 well, these days people see bands like Alice in chains and smashing pumpkins, sure they aren't the originals, but we are grateful for what we get to see =)

    or maybe thats just me?

  • I freaking love this song, and the old pumpkins <3 :)

i remember i was obsessed with billy in the 7th grade lol, good times.

  • i think this music video is fucking amazing

  • man these guys sort of sold out after this.

  • Silversun Pickups suck ass.

  • @LitleWhiteClown

yeah, but if they were around when you were younger and more impressionable they would totally kick ass right? lol fucking "that era > this era" sooo old and predictable.

  • @DawnpatrolTrev No, they wouldn't. I just don't like em. And there are plenty of bands from the 90s that I don't like.

  • Radiohead is still making some of the best music ever written, roo, and according to their guitarist their best album yet is coming out at the end of this year.

  • Corgan Looked cooler with hair

  • @Somewhereorelse bitch you copied my comment

  • @Somewhereorelse asshole you copied my comment

  • @Somewhereorelse

I really think the same, his hair was so cool!!!!

  • se ve mejor billy con el pelo largo

  • Dudes I love Old school, but if you dig deep, you can still find good music, Wolmother, QOtSA, and a personal favorite that takes alot from SP and U guys should look up is Silversun Pickups, remember a revolution starts from within you to reach out to others PEACE!!!

  • That is the best riff ever in a chorus.

  • god bless LSD

  • Like GnR their first album was their best. Then Billy Corgon got LSD (Lead singer synonym) and took over and fucked it all up. Well to be fair he did write all the music, but he started to not let the other band members even record their own parts.

  • @soulfader The Everlasting Gaze: Guitar 1: Billy Corgan Guitar 2: Billy Corgan Bass: Billy Corgan Vocals: Billy Corgan Drums: Billy Corgan Keys: Billy Corgan Costume Design: Billy Corgan Principle photography: Billy Corgan Written by: Billy Corgan Get the picture?
  • @peniosasdasd Nah Jimmy Done The Drums Thats Why Billy Kept In Contact With Him Lol

  • @ryneldo

And Jimmy did the drums better than anybody else.

  • This is as Alternative as Alternative gets.

  • the new stuff of sp isn´t really good. that isn´t the real sp ...

  • I think Tool and Smashing Pumpkins are a lot alike.

    1. There songs all have meaning

    2. Both have amazing vocalists in Maynard and Billy

    3.They both have awesome instrumentals

4.and there songs are progressive in the way the build up to the end.

Tool And Smashing Pumpkins are 2 of the best bands in my opinion

Tool And Smashing Pumpkins are 2 of the best bands in my oppinion

  • @beanzknights95 I agree with you, Tool and Smashing Pumpkins are the best bands ever.

  • instead of Alternative, just call it GOOD music

  • fuck you the 25 people who missed the like button

  • i am definitely a child of the 90s... most of the music i like or bother to listen to... appart from some 80s and 70s stuff is from the 90s...

and gish was one of my all time favorite albums.

  • Earily Pumkins Rocks and agree with everything since 01' is regergitated at best Classic and underated sum it up

  • I LOVE THE FUCKING 90'S even the pop shit was better than most of the music now a days

  • me imagino basilando estos temas en vivo filete

  • why on most 90s rock song videos have someone that mentions nirvana

  • There is as much excellent music nowadays as there ever was. I'll never know why people listen to rap and screamo and all that but if you've got taste there's still good music around

  • im 15 years old, and smashing pumpkins is the most rescently distrubeted music that i listen to. its sad that as a kid i have to listen to dead culture because music out today sucks so bad..

  • Nirvan is way overrated. Simple songs with simple melodies and hard rock, Sp was a much better band but people would rather smash and mosh and you couldn't with SP's shoegazing style.

And at least, Billy Corgan didn't rip off anyone else's musc, Cobain.

  • everything that nirvana did bands like dinosaur jr. and husker du and the melvins were already doing without the attention of the mainstream media.

  • He's a underrated guitar player. Nice rocking song

  • My favorite Smashing Pumpkins song. And I love almost all of them.

  • The part at 3:45 where the guitars kick in always scares the shit out of people in my car haha

  • Best smashing pumpkins song ever

  • UUGGHHH!!! i need Gish!!

i have Adore, Mellon Collie, and Siamese, i just need this one and Zeitgeist

and enough with this talk of the 90's being the best, it wasnt, its just like every with its good's and its bads, and it only seems good to the majority of us because we grew up with it, theres plenty of good stuff now, you guys just have to keep looking, and besides the good stuff is probably not even big making it that much harder to find

    ...and go Pumpkins! haha

  • Yep. The Smashing Pumpkins were formed in '88. Of course I was born two years after that and they are my favorite band of all time. Funny little world 'innit?

  • @ZeroTearAvaAdore hahahahaha, same here!!! i mean, i was born two years after, they're top 3 for me, but its probably the one bad out of the top 3 that i listen to the most by a small hair haha

  • Yep. The Smashing Pumpkins were formed in '88. Of course I was born two years after that and they are my favorite band of all time. Funny little world 'innit?

  • englishish: well done mate, bare in mind the pumpkins came from the eighties. you guys just need something to complain about

  • is d'arcy still hot now? I thought read something about billy calling her a drug addict or something and we all now that doesn't end up well

  • I love D'arcy ;)

  • It´s the only album i have of them, the best with the siamese dream!!!

  • wat are the lyrics

  • Gish is my favorite album ever..

  • There isn't a bad song on Gish, not a single one.

  • Billy with hair...dont see that too often lol

  • Ahhh takes me back to by freshman year at Southern Illinois University. Home town Chicago angst rock. I loved these days.

  • I forgot how sexy darcy was back then

  • Christ that person in the white facepaint made me jump lol!!

  • great song

  • oooh the 90s! oooh the 90s! oooh the 90s! please take me back to the 90s! i want to die now.

  • @dudeinsatx The Fall: Late Good Bye, Carnival Of Rust, Lift, Dreaming Wide Awake, Locking Up The Sun, War, If you like The Smashing Pumpkins, than you will like Poets Of The Fall. Try Poets Of Diamonds For Tears, The Ultimate Fling, Stay, Illusions and dream, The Poet And The Muse, and Fire. I am not a band member just a fan of great music like what you are listening to now.
