  • My last name is Lovell

  • Troop 60 forever!!!

  • troop 666 is the best

  • Marion Barry is an Eagle Scout too and he is an interesting one!

  • go troop 429

  • I'm an Eagle. Troop 472, Zachary, Louisiana.

  • Go troop 624

  • they're still lame....

  • Troop 69 all the way.

  • U.S. presidents have been proudly accepting the post of honorary president of the BSA since President William Howard Taft in 1910. Actually, every president since, both Democrat and Republican, has gone above and beyond expected presidential duties to support this all-American young men's civic organization.

    Not Obama.

    Why not?

  • @BMWNash Obama is just a disappointment all around... he failed to show up to the 2010 National Jamboree which this Jamboree was so much more special because it is the 100th year of scouting... and being on The View was more important to him than going to the Jamboree! I will not vote Obama in 2012 if he runs for president again!

  • @BMWNash If I understand correctly, Obama did accept the post of honorary president of the BSA.

  • troop 191 is beast

  • Im 20 year old and Im a leader of my own group here in Aruba. But sometimes it so hard for me to help guide the youth of today and sometimes I think of quitting. But I always come back to see this video. It always gives me strength to keep going on. And it makes me proud to be a scout. Every time I hear them say before he wore this uniform he wore this U Got 2 <3 SCOUTING!!!

  • troop 199 rulez

  • Boy Scouts for nubs

    CAP's the way to go

  • 179 U.S. astronauts were involved in Scouting (57.4 percent of astronauts). 39 are Eagle Scouts

11 of the 12 astronauts who walked on the moon were Scouts.

  • geeks

  • hey i want to get back into scouting because i was in once but i dropped out but im afraid ill be way behind....any advice?

  • Just join again.

  • Vital, it doesnt matter how far you made it before, get back into it. It has life long effects you will remember. Whether or not you are able to make it to Eagle, it is still worth going back. I am 35 and joined back as an assistant scout master after dropping out after a few months when I was younger. I feel that helping these young men become leaders will benefit not only them, but society. Get back in, no matter what role you play, it will stick with you the rest of you life.

  • cool i never knew lovell was a scout

    p.s. i'm almost an Eagle

  • great vid this organization is the best thing in my life i've mede great friends done lots of fun things and learnd a thing or to an to all who talk bad about Boy Souting go fuck yourself we do not discrimenate and we are not abusive I HOPE TO GOD THAT YOUR CHILD BECOMES EAGAL THEN MABEY YOU WILL SEE WAT U MISSED OUT ON

  • My one son is now grown. He never had the slightest interest in scouting. He is doing fine and my wife and I are proud of him.

  • Did the Boy Scouts teach you your spelling and punctuation?

  • wardenphil, it took you approximately 7 1/2 months to come back and correct monkeywithipod's spelling.

  • I had bigger fish to fry.

  • it is horrible to talk about the Boy Scouts of America in this kind of fashion. Boy Scouts of America is a great program that teaches boys leadership, and isn't "abusive" or "discriminating" If you thought that what your troop was doing was wrong at that time, you should have reported it to your council or tried to join a different troop. Maybe then you would have learned how to respect other people's interestests and learned great leadership for yourself.

  • I actually do know about leadership and how to treat people...no thanks to scouting.

  • do u know what to do if you get lost....what if you need to survive for a few days....all in scouts

  • Yeah, and also in the SEER Training that Jim Lovell received courtesy of the U.S. Navy.

  • SERE

  • Unfortunately, your suggested action was not possible under the circumstances that then existed. You are a kid, so I don't wish to burden you with the full story of what happened to me - and which I sincerely hope never happens to you. Perhaps I am being too hard on the National Organization, but when I was in, I failed to encounter a single decent adult leader. I am still hurt and angry....

  • I am currently a member of the Brittish Scouts, and I love it. We do NOT discriminate, and we are very helpful, and we even got an honour from the queen.

  • With Neil Armstrong growing up in my area and with him being a staff member as a kid at the scout camp that I go to, I obviously loved this video. I salute you for sharing this. Great video!!!!

  • yo dude it isnt the adults that do that it is each other having fun ending up in an all out brawl and we always make up after the fact and then we attack each other again so deal dude and calm down

  • BEAUTIFUL - anuf said

  • Jim Lovell, a brilliant survivalist in guiding Apollo 13 back home after the ill-fated mission.

  • Jim Lovell will ALWAYS be my hero! His extraordinary skills that brought Apollo 13 home cannot be overstated. He is simply the BEST of America. Captain Lovell, Thank you! And may God bless you!

  • Hear, hear. He's one of my heroes too, and though I am British, I feel privilged knowing what Jim and his fellow men and women of NASA have achieved and continue to achieve. We salute you.

  • while I agree with you, you could have worded that nicer

  • Well spoken, very true.

  • he was my great uncle :D

  • Also does anyone have the one where they sing that song that starts "You say you don't have nothing to do"

  • Does anyone have the Boy Scouts of America commercial from the 1980's where Raul Chavez is talking about the BSA?

  • be nice kid

  • hey, "NachoAzul1", guess what, that is a fair comparison. The Boy Scouts may not teach how to navigate through space or anything, but the BSA gives a person character, it turns little boys into young men, and becoming an Eagle Scout shows that a person has the determination to finish something. It shows that they will not give up when things begin to go the wrong way. Don't ever put down the Boy Scouts of America ever again. Our nation would be much better if every boy was a boy scout.

  • wow you kinda have to suck it up because we have been through alot worse than thaty in our troop and we have lots of fun half the kids in my troop are terrified of somethings now because of us yet we all still love it so you really havent gotten the full taste if you never made it into BOY scouts cuz you said you only were in CUB scouts

  • Supermuffintops 45 (1 of 2): You say you "...have been through alot worse than thaty in our troop...".

Did / does your troop abuse young Cub Scouts? If they did, then you can go to Hell also.

It's not that I didn't "make it" into Boy Scouts - I told THEM I was done with their f-----g "program" (and got the shit beat out of me for doing so). I earned the right to NOT be a Boy Scout. After my experience, I wanted nothing to do with Scouting. Maybe they would.....

  • I think that it is kind of rediculous to post mean comments about a national organization when it wasn't the organization's fault. If you want to complain about the leaders, then complain to them, not to people that like Boy Scouts. I have great leaders and love scouting and I know that many troops in my area have great programs which proves that it is not the organization's fault. If it was the leaders' fault, next year wouldn't be the 100th year of scouting.

  • Was he kicked out? *Waits for good news*

  • went to jail. But what was so weird was before that like a couple of months i went to a O.A. thing with alot of other troops and his troops was there and he rode on the bus with us. So when i saw him on T.V. I told my mom that i went on the trip once with him and she freaked out asking me if i got raped and so forth.

  • Excuse me, but I'm a boy scout and I, in my own humble opinion, support their policy to prohibit gays. Guess what! I don't want to get raped by some man. That's what homosexuals have proven to act like. It's perfectly fair.

  • "Bigots" oppose freedom of association and others' views. A gay group supported BSA in the Dale case as they did not want to admit heterosexuals into their group. "Openly homosexual" are not admitted & that is the key. Many gays have a tendency of wanting to tell everyone that they are gay. Straights don't and sex has no place in BSA one way or the other. Atheists cannot join since God gets in the way. Communist countries do not have Scouting programs. Maybe gays should be a little tolerant.

  • Happy birthday scouting. Now for 98 more years!

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOUTING FROM TROOP 43
