What's so remarkable about this Tomcat at this extremely low & fast envelop is that it doesn't need the lift from the wings at all. Because lift being generated from its lifting fuselage is all it needs. That's why the wings are swept all the way back in order to get it out of the way.
Still the fastest jet at sea level after all these years PERIOD.

NAVY RULES - PERIOD. What pisses me off all the time is these morons who think that anything in the air is Air Force, DUMB ASSESS.
Look at the Facts. Navy was first in SPACE (Shepard), first to Orbit (Glenn - yes I know Marines, still a Sailor), first on the Moon (Armstrong). Vietnam - first Ace, Air Force you loose.
I worked on the F14A and we had the TF30, what a piece, TF34 from GE was great and I know the F100 was excellent.
Nothing is better. BIG BAD AND HONKING - F14 TOMCAT.

the vapor cone is just made cuz thers a drop in air pressure near the airplane when it goes near supersonic speeds. it was prob goin around 625-650 knots, but i can't tell if it was accelerating or not.

You can see a vapor cloud forming behind the Tomcat at the very beginning of the video, but then it flickers away. So it's probably going almost supersonic, about 600MPH?

no it is probably not by much tho, you can tell by the sound you would hear it coming at least a little bit if it were transsonic, you can still hear the people until right before it passes
