I agree with criskar5 - This is the Best Album of All time - and I have a huge collection - It is a step above Peter Gabriel's Genesis (esp Foxtrot) and Tim Buckley's Happy Sad. This blows Sgt Pepper away, I am sorry to say. Why it was not heralded as the best thing since Buddy Holly when it was released, I don't know. It is so amazing in it's ability to be both beautiful and passionate, simple and yet deeply philisophical. It just washes my soul clean, and I am ready to believe again
thanks for posting this from end to end ...a great album, arguably the best by Procul Harum ... i bought it back in 1970 expecting more of "whiter shade of pale" and was so pleasantly surprised to get something even better
Oh yeah I couldn't agree more. But in my day I was a teenager when this came out and people still weren't getting it. What can I say, except that you it ! Thanks
This part of the song was Robin Trower's chance to shine on lead guitar. A great ending for one of the most absolutely fantastic musical compositions of the modern era.
I was spending the summer on a 100 year old farm outside Fairfield, Idaho(pop.500) when this album came out. My cousin had just bought it and I cant begin to describe how "cool" we thought it was. I so like finding it on youtube--I still have it on vinyl, buried and inaccessable I my garage...and yes I like the idea of playing for all those "hoity-toitys" of the world--but I think they 'ought to have a whole-lotta "natural"herbage and maybe a few shots to "mellow-out"...
the end of this haunting song is the most impressive of all the music history..... and marvellous..he bring us to heaven or inside the Divine Comedia from Dante Alighieri
The Pope, the President, The Mullahs, The People's Chairman, the generals should be brought to a comfortable room with a superb sound system, made comfortable and given 400 mcs of acid , the lights lowered and this album played.
This is great, I love Procul Harum and hate that all anyone knows is "Whiter Shade of Pale," They made 10 albums each one a winner, and someday someone will set the record straight. Thanks for posting this.
I am thankfull to this day that I puchased this album.....
