Really frustrates me when people bang on about poodle cuts looking "weird" and "unnatural". Poodle coats are NOT natural. Human beings created this coat and for hundreds of years they've been bred to be shaved.
It's so much more hygienic to shave face feet and tail at least. If you want a shaggy, "natural" look it takes so much time and effort that the majority of people either don't understand or are not willing to do.
@WrathOfPookie . God created poodles AND their HAIR not man. Poodle coat ARE natural, you dont ever find extra poodle coats do you? Man "created" different looks for the poodle. If you can "create" a poodle coat you should be rich beyond your wildest dreams, oh ya your wild dreams are man creating poodle hair.
@cajuncassriverside By "creating" the coat, we removed any kind of NATURAL SELECTION that would have otherwise happened in the wild. We Developed dogs from wolves by selective breeding. A genetic mutation somewhere along the line gave rise to a Poodle's hair coat, which we decided that we liked and developed this characteristic further to create poodles as a breed. Without humans, poodles would not exist. We selectively bred dogs to make the poodle breed and thus, their coat.
I have a minuture poodle with a natural haircut (like the before in this video). He is not neglected and is soft and fluffy. Having long hair does not make him dirty or unloved! I hate the shaved poodles. Everyone always says he is too cute to be a poodle! That he looks more like a stuffed animal than a real dog and that he smells nice (regular showers!) He is not a showpiece to be looked at. He is a lap dog that gets hugs from everyone. The dog in this video was super cute BEFORE.
I think she was cut really good!! she looks beautiful. But I also think that maybe she should have been cut completely so her face hair could be the sabe white as her body's color. But still a really good job! Love it! :D
omg i have a white poodle that i adopted from the shelter... i couldnt take her to the groomers for 2 weeks cuz she got fixed the day before i got her.. her fur was SO dirty and matted.. the groomers did her hair exactly like that! i lovee it!!!
I have a white dog who used to have major dark, tear stains . Since using a product Angel Eyes I don;t have any tear stains...all white and nice. You should try it....buy at Amazon.com
@meand3doggies our husky had it when we first rescued him. After many trials, we finally figured out he is allergic to wheat and chicken. Dog cookies and grocery store foods are the worst.
Thats HORRIBLE!!! He was sooo cute! Just needed a Big Bath!!! Whoever butchered that poor dog should be imprisoned! Poor poor dog. Whoa is me Whoa whoa whoa!
@lordsberg Uh, the dog was matted. When they're matted like that a bath will only make it worse. The blades on our (groomers) clippers don't cut THROUGH matted fur, we have to cut under it. And to brush all of that out would be inhumane and the dog would've ended up with brush burn all over. The groomer did the best thing for the dog, which sometimes, is what our job comes down to.
I had a standard poodle, and as long as I brushed her out about once a week, before her baths, and she didn't get into mud or in briers or bushes, she didn't get matted. But I kept her in this kind of but most of the time anyway because it was easier for both of us to keep her clean and unmatted without keeping her from playing and being a dog. Besides, it's very hot most of the time where I live.
I don't understand how you get the top of the head so nice and smooth looking after, my poodle cross has the same hair as the before shot on the top of the head only no matter what i do it still looks rather straggly?
Nice job by the way, although i tend to like the legs with a little poof. ^^
@iBreakable You need the head hair to be completely straight before you cut it. Brush it foreward while you blow it dry, and buy a poodle comb, use it when it's dry to get the last bit of curl out of the hair. After you set the length with a guard on your clippers, and shape the sides and front of the t.k. use a finishing comb to fluff all the hair straight up and then scissor it in all round. Then it'll look smooth for ya!
im a groomer too and i hate when people bring their very matted dogs in and want u to brush it out or save alot of it and how they dont understand how letting ur dog get matted is not only neglect but its uncomfortable for the dog. if ur gonna get a bishon, poodle, shihtzu, maltese, etc then u need to accept the responsibilty of getting ur dog groom on a regular bases! good job on the dog tho, bet he/ she is thanking u.
Wow, I am a groomer and I have to say you did a fantastic job. What blade did you use? I would be afraid to put my 7f under that mess! Thanks for posting, sometimes I feel like "Where do I even start?" when a poodle in that shape comes in.
@birdpoodle he said that the dog was pregnant so he couldnt take her in for a while, if the dog were severly neglected they wouldnt bother bringing him in at all
@kennakat24 The before is what mines looks like now but I'm not so sure if I should give it this real poodle look. I think I prefer the hair long. I'm torn!!!
@dinh I think I would keep her the way she is. Maybe you could give her a bath and groom her to make her look gorgeous, but getting a dog's hair cut to look like a poodle just doesn't look, well, natural.
@funnywebkinz124 I am professional groomer and let me tell you about mats. If you get them wet they tighten so giving this dog a bath would have made the problem much worse. The mats on this dog were so bad that brushing them out would have irritated her skin. leaving the mats in was ABSOLUTELY not an option. When it ismatted to the skin like that, the skin cant breathe properly and it can cause ALOT of skin problems. Also mats keep moisture and crap close to the skin which causes infection.

@funnywebkinz124
I personally like how poodles look in a poodle cut, some people (like you) do`nt. but this dog was to dirty
and the hair was all tangles and matted. so it is better to shave them all. and get rid off all the ugly hair and dirt.
once the new hair starts to grow the poodle well look fluffy again. also in summer it is better for poodles to be
groomed this way.
kayring13 1 year ago
@funnywebkinz124 they need to get shaved because that cuases health problems
