  • Wouldn't every meteor do that though? How does LCROSS just do that? I thought if something hit the moon it just plomps onto it...

  • how much did the logo design cost the American taxpayer?

  • Exploration of Space is a necessary science for good of mankind, well worth it, no matter how much we spent on it. find out how much military budget cost the taxpayer CosmoZorzi

  • trillions wasted, nuking the moon aint cool man

  • It doesn't cost trillions. It costs hundreds of millions. You're off by a factor of ten thousand.

Also, there aren't any nukes on board. It's just a spent rocket stage - basically a big aluminum can.

  • is it 79 million dollars? the man in the moon is going to get really mad, im heading for the bunker

  • Let's hope there's no internet access in that bunker.

  • this mission looks like its a complete dud

  • To someone with an attention span measured in minutes, it certainly appears that way. It takes days to analyze gigabytes of data.

  • i cant wait for the results! shock and awe!

  • I fear you're going to be continuously let down with expectations that high.

  • Tf00t reference? ;)

  • About 100 million...(The war in Iraq costs about $255 million per day)

  • That depends on what kind of American they are.

If it was a Brazilian taxpayer, it didn't cost them anything.

If it was a US taxpayer, it cost them a fraction of a cent.

  • Fantastic video, with it goes my name Kurdistan Planetarium and my family's name to the Moon..

  • Woo i got mine, My wife's, In-laws, parents and pets names on the LRO chip too. :D

  • You can get your name to the Moon more easily than that. Just send a signal with a wireless router. Some of the radio photons are bound to reach the Moon.

  • that maybe so lithiumdeuteride, although its not that easy for that you need a Radio Telscope to fire a radio beam precisely at that point in space where the moon reach it in 1.3 seconds later. even if it reach there it will be bounce back to Earth for sure, so sending your name by that method is not an ideal one, but with LRO mine its there and stay there for sure...

  • I'm watching it live right now at 1009.3782 seconds!! Beautiful!!!!!! It performing a coast adjustment.
