  • Stefan Molyneux could have given a speech twice as meaningful, half as long and twice as entertaining.

  • If you believe that you can force others to provide for you and you can tell others what they can and can't do with the products of their labor, then you believe in slavery, freedom doesn't mean you will be safe or that you will be taken care of, other people are not your property, deal with it.

  • 17:07 "...promise to become better mummies." Great line, either the audience missed it or I'm the only one who thought it was funny.

  • I haven't heard so much bullshit since I last watched George W Bush give a "speech".

  • @SamPabloKuper The fact that you would compare P.J O'Rourke to bush tells me without a doubt that this speach is way over your head!!! You call it bullshit because you don't understand it!!! That is clear!!! This guy is one of the most brilliant minds in the world when it comes to politics!!! Anyone who says otherwise is in denial!!!

  • @j19318 Oh!!! no!!! he!!! isn't!!!

    (And for good measure: !!! !!! !!!)

Seriously, though: would you like someone to call a doctor to check you over, or are you already in hospital?

  • @SamPabloKuper You say hes not!?!? Ok!!! Whatever!!! You must be a liberal!!! I feel sorry for you!!! truth hurts right!!!

  • @j19318 What a shining wit you are.

  • @SamPabloKuper Fa shizzal my nizzal!!!

  • @j19318 Since even such an obvious Spoonerism is lost on you, I hereby quit this poor excuse for a conversation.

  • @SamPabloKuper O ok buy!!!

  • @SamPabloKuper Can we still be very best friends!?!?! Ur my buddy ok!!!

  • The only problem with 'The Free Market' is that it is just as real as the magic invisible pink unicorn. No matter how much you wish it were real it will never materialise as the very constituents of the market preclude its existence. Those that preach this dogma are no different than religious evangelists, they are rarely true believers but knowingly playing the game and sucking in the punters for profit.

  • great speech, enjoyable to listen to.

  • PS: I just hear on the radio that Christmas has been cancelled, this year in the USA because of the after-effects of the global economic crisis.

  • @listen2meokidoki - Don`t you believe it, there`s still a little juice left to squeeze outta those credit cards for a Christmas knees-up before they get cut up.

  • OMG. I only listened to the 1st part . To some of the aspirations and YOU American's, even educated serious and laborious ones like the Speaker above, don't GET IT. You have to separate POWER & AUTHORITY. Meaning, abolish the executive Presidency. Go Parliamentary. And abolish elected judiciary. The source of evil in America. Then, short people can become head of state & head of government. Power corrupts. Elected judges wield authority & popular power! Executive Presidents wear 2 hats badly.

  • Is this guy looked up to? I've heard of him, but this wasn't much more than basic republican talking points, and pot shots at Obama. For someone who is considered a thinker, it would have been nice to hear something beyond juvenile logic, and his arguments were very simple minded. Not surprising from this crowd, What about the Gimmie attitude of the wallstreet crowd who are being benefited from QE2 as we speak.

  • As long as government power is used to help business and other corporations distort the market, you will barely hear a peep from the types at Cato and Reason.

  • Huh? Who's free?

We're all slaves to the totalitarian mercantilism on planet Ferengi! You can just choose/are chosen to your best fitting slave position.

No land - no sovereignty; only dependence on other land owners. (Not to mention that more correctly, land owns people, not the other way around.)

  • Elitist Jews promote the "give me" rights because they know this is the best way to destroy individual liberty. Jews were instrumental in the Bolshevik rise to power. One day the world will wake up to realize that a small group of fascist Jews led by Satan control this wicked world. How much more proof does one need to arrive at the conclusion that we have a Zionist occupation of the US government. America is being systematically destroyed so a new world order can take over the planet.

  • @aubreyfarmer Thanks for the history lesson Adolf, and so kind of you to translate your open-minded philosophy from the original Dutch.

  • @aubreyfarmer Those darn Jews. They are always behind everything that happens in the world. For a group of people that only make up less than 2% of the world population, they sure do get around.

  • Average talk by O`R, but his thesis is right, the true nature - of even good Government - is parasitical. Less is more should be the guiding principle, & it should located physically as near to those being Governed as it`s possible to get it, with what power there is being divided as much as possible.

Any other model + human nature doesn`t mix.

  • @kcirdrab Norway & Denmark, part of a spectrum across EU.

Highest tax on the top 2% on Earth, they have become the most Equal & Wealthy populations on the planet. Low crime, best standard of living, democratic, high-skill, green high-tech economy. excellent healthcare & education. Socialized sectors = $ went to people not corps.

Free-market nut jobs like Greece, USA & Ireland failed.. trickle-down propaganda hype.

USA needs to dump it's ranting conservatives like Russia did.

  • @marsCubed - Well now, let`s sift & sort here.

Norway (I`m part Norwegian, so a fan) owes a lot of its success financially to its oil & gas fields in the North Sea. Danes are slightly crazy but pretty canny when it comes to money, as are their foes across the Skagerrak the Swedes. I think all their tendency towards communality in the partitioning of resources from commerce isn`t the foundation of their wealth (they`re ruthless capitalists in business) but rather a by-product of it.

  • @kcirdrab

USA has oil, USA private oil barons got literally record breaking profits recently. plus they also received tax breaks giving them an exra hundreds million of dollars each in one year alone.

Norway has socialized oil, 2/3 state owned, environmental record without rival, Norway's money went to Norway's population, health, education, shelter, skills recreation etc. & taxed for Equality.

    unregulated trickle-down hype is fail.

Inclusion, not scams to make .01% even more obscenely rich.

  • @marsCubed -Yes but America has 310 million mouths to feed, the Norwegians & Danes combined only 10 million. The available oil revenues in proportion to these small populations is far greater than the USA`s, this allows them a degree of communality with the excess wealth that would be more difficult for nations of greater population size & limited resources in proportion to manage effectively

Agreed about trickle down theory it`s nonsense, the super rich just shift their cash offshore.

  • @kcirdrab Norway & Denmark are part of a spectrum across Europe, and increasingly the world. Most have universal socialized healthcare systems of some kind, free at the point of delivery. Japan has increased pensions for the elderly & introduced Art into it's science curricula during her downturn.

In Germany regulations put solar panels on all new buildings, Imagine how much innovation & new jobs that stimulates. It all adds value to an economy.

Wealth is fish in the sea and the seed we tend.

  • @marsCubed - Yes but continental Europe, Japan, etc., continually lapse into tyranny, whereas the Anglosphere has held up a torch of liberty for the individual for centuries

Japan`s in a New Depression with rising poverty beginning to be a real problem & the Germany isn`t as healthy as you think.

To totally dismiss the Anglosphere individualistic model is niave. If it puts up tariffs against the Orient most of the things yr worried about will vanish with the wealth created for its nations.

  • @kcirdrab Staggering inequality, biggest per capita prison population, 1% owning 42% of wealth, rat-race political rants, hyper nationalism, wars, breaking unions, massive debt by people for basics like medicine & shelter, to it's own rich few, 80% only owing 7%, becoming de skilled, Operation Archangel, Saddam Hussain, Hitler (funded by Anglosphere), in the name of profit moronic conservatives who cite selfish greed as their motive; misunderstood?

It's the problem; Ranting Conservative thugs.

  • @marsCubed - Do you feel better having got that out of yr system? lol

There`s a far greater dispersal of wealth amongst the Anglosphere & the European nations (bar the Slavs) than most of the rest of the world`s societies & many of the these things (at least the 1`s that are true) you could level far more at the rest of the World also.

There is an out of control culture in the Square Mile & Wall Street at the moment, but the New Depression that`s about to hit will stop to that.

  • @kcirdrab Will stop that TOO. Or will also stop it. And, I might add, they say that in a recession, subject to a society's ethos, that recessions make people MORE caring and sharing. BTW, I heard that the disparity between rich & poor in the USA has reached the historical highs. These things, statistical, rise & fall all the time, & if you live long enouh, you can feel it - CAN YOU FEEL IT? I can. I'm more private now because I've accumulated some wealth. That's why. So MYOB & go away!

  • @listen2meokidoki - 1stly it`s bad form to correct people for quick typing & editing text mistakes on YT. Engage with the logic of the point not the presentation.

Agree with most of the rest of what you say, there was a HUGE flare up of greed thru the Roaring Noughties but the party`s over (the casino boys in the Street & the Square Mile are just grabbing all they can before the whistle is blown) & the hangover`s gonna hurt big time

  • @kcirdrab The share of wealth in USA is about the same as in Russia, which has a huge rural poor population and has gone through big economic restructuring.

USA also has the biggest prison population, only place where young people are less skilled than older generations.

Inequality and poverty in the free-market style states has soared. The mega rich few own almost half of all the money and live off interest by keeping the population in debt.

Manure is no good all in one spot, in fact it stinks.

  • @marsCubed- Any comparison between the wealth dispersal of the USA being the same as Russia is ridiculous. Russia`s an economic basket case ruled in many areas by criminals & money oligarchs

There has been a recent feeding frenzy by elements with their paws on the levers of finance in the Anglosphere, but - as I said - that`s coming to an abrupt end now & they`ll be a rebalancing.

You seem v. eager to find the worst in America & the best in everything else, I`m not sure that`s wise.

  • @kcirdrab The comparison, it comes from the author of World health Chart in a lecture on TED.

WHC graphs data over time, (free on the web BTW).

"Russia`s an economic basket case ruled in many areas by criminals & money oligarchs"

Strangely that's also the conclusion of many regarding USA. also in need of dumping it's cold-war dinos perhaps?

USA is the hub of rat-race capitalist corps.

My point is that this trashes economies, including USA now.

Others, ie Nth EU are relatively sane & balanced.

  • @marsCubed- I don`t care what silly graph you`ve got from some silly "World this or that" , the Slavs are racked with poverty compared to the rest of Europe & there`s a lot of concern that their attempt to adopt Anglosphere freedom is failing & they`re regressing back to the "strong man" tyranny which they tried to throw off in the 90s

The Anglosphere`s finances have hit the buffers & there`s gonna be a necessary readjustment, we agree on that 1

Rat race capitalism? - check out China

  • @kcirdrab Check out China indeed, strikes there now are demanding decent pay, conditions & a democratic voice, more pay means people are more able to buy American goods.

Rat race competition sinks us all.

Chinese state capitalism is revealed for what it is, Industrial revolution, nothing to do with democracy or socialism.

The majority of regular working people are the solution. Capitalism goes into crisis from surplus.

Tax the hyper-rich & property elites back the Earth orbit internationally.

  • Hah, CATO is as Libertarian as Sarah Palin. Don't make me laugh and don't make Rothbard, Mises, Hayek, and Bastiat turn in their graves. I did enjoy a book by P.J. O'Rourke called Eat The Rich, which is why I watched this video.

  • @renegade2142 it will always be stato to me..

  • 23:10 is not funny at all to many people living outside empire being screwed by that same empire.

  • Good job RT. Well done!

  • Excellent satire

  • @youngbuck189: There you again, talkin' your stupid bullshit. Shall I school you again on economics?

  • CATO Institute? Funded by the Coke brothers, multi billionaire sociopaths.

Libertarianism? The ideology endorsed by the Tea Party and Republicans who want to have sex and smoke weed? Libertarianism just like Conservatism has no meaning in America, as their traditional meaning and values have no resemblance to that which is associated with the modern American facades.

In fact, those terms mean the exact opposite of their real meanings. But that is 1984 America, fascism becomes libertarianism.

  • @youngbuck189 : You are an idiot. Try reading a book or two...moron.

  • @BadToad1963 It is pretty obvious I read much more than you, and books that have empirically proven subjects.

  • There would be a simple way to make politics boring. Take out all the special interest money from campaigning. Big money equates to big interest. If politicians only made minimum wage, then people seeking wealth and power wouldn't become politicians. If politicians couldn't be bought with donations to campaigns and favorite organizations, then corporations would stop finding politicians interesting and the corporate media would focus elsewhere. Attention goes where the money is.

  • @MarmaladeINFP My suggestion is particularly meaningful in response to this speech apparently sponsored by the Cato Institute. Cato and other think tanks are essentially the unions for rich people and big businesses. If you want to find the source of all corruption of politics, you just have to follow the money and most of the big donations come from corporations. Even donations from workers unions is miniscule in comparison corporations and their various special interest groups and astroturf.

  • WHAT'S UP EVERYBODY ! IT'S FRIDAY LET'S GET DRUNK!!!

  • this would be a amazing scoop, but for the fact that i don't think anyone gives a shit about PJ O'Rouke anymore.
